Thanks so much for this informative and helpful video. I was refused last year on the ground of lump sum. Though the documents for the sold property was attached in my application but was refused. Hello sir I just got admitted to Ubc and I got a funding of 28k. I need to show a proof of funds of about 5 million naira apart from the funding. I am a fresh graduate and I have been using Microfinance bank for my day to day activities. My dad is ready to send me the money with a gift of deed..Is it advisable I open a new commercial bank and tender it as a proof of fund with the money in it?

I think you can use one which is the sponsor not the dependant... Then he should add your own living expenses there 5k + making it 25k + CAD

You can show both cash and bank statement. But if you are carrying CAD$ 10,000 or more in cash you must declare it.

So my question is this; if my mum is sponsoring and I am submitting her bank statements buh I also want to show that I have some money in my account as well to proof that I have funds easily accessible to me by saying that my mum sold something and asked the buyer to send the money to me. Do you think it will raise an eyebrow from the visa officer why my mum sold something when she’s already financially capable?

If you are applying for a PhD and you have funding, you can show your funding letter, plus an additional 1 year cost of living if the stipend does not cover the cost of living requirement.

Hello Sir, I have submitted my application and my sponsor is my elder brother. I submitted his two banks statement ( salary account and his savings account). I didn't submit my own bank statement because I didn't have enough money and he didn't send me any money. Is there any problem with that?
