You can only use this to refind the password of an already connected network. Some older phones also show the password under the qr code of both unconnected and connected networks for some reason. 0:52

This is good cause it worked as saved passwords. So if you go by someone house whatsoff and they put in the password you can see what they put it. Some people does hide their wifi code
