My conure loves being with me in the shower so much that he’ll fly into the bathroom and sit on his shower perch whenever I have my bathroom door open :)
@@FlyingFids Aww I like your birds names. But that is funny how they will go with you but not your bf. My birds will go with me or my niece but no one else unless they got to know you and they like you. Mine act like the bird counsel when it comes to people they meet. They are too dang smart. 😂
find a thing funny recently: my 8y amazon parrot has only taken bath with 2 things: a waterhose and a spray bottle, and everytime i get one of them to shower some of my father's plants, she just happily waddles on my way thinking is shower time, still think is funny lol
My two conures really love the taps. Like whenever im in the kitchen or the bathroom with the tap on, they'll just fly to me and try to get under the water. They call it the 'magic waterfall'. X'3
thats okay! there are some birds that don't really like water as much as others. as long as you can bathe your bird how they like to be bathed and when they feel like bathing, then thats good enough!
My bird doesnt like water but he likes going to the bathroom with me.. he'd sit on my head while I'm showering BUT he will not let a single drop of water touch him. It's been 4 months now
My cockatiel was terrified of the shower and the sound of it a few years ago, so I began taking her in and starting with the sound of the sink tap. She got used to that and enjoyed popping her head under it (with light pressure). Today I decided to bring her in the shower with me and she loved it! The pressure was low and she sat on my hand. I’ll definitely look into getting a shower perch, especially since it gets super hot here (Australia).
My bird took to it right away. I bought soap holders with suction cups from Etsy for my parrotlets and I just put in an order for one 3x long with 3 suction cups for my IRN it works perfect in fiberglass tub/shower. My ringneck falls asleep in the shower.
I can't wait for my cockatiels to be chill enough to pass through the livingroom, then through the kitchen, and then being happy to be in the bathroom. One of them is only halfway the livingroom now. The other not even that.
My sun conure also decides when it’s time for a sink bath, and, like you said in another video, pay attention to their body language. She will just fly to my shoulder and lean into the sink. I sing itsy bitsy spider and she hops into my cupped hands for a very splashy bath. She even runs back up my arm and down the other - kind of like I’m a water park slide. We are both pretty soaked after that.
haha both pineapple and pumpkin do the exact same thing if they're feeling like bathing in the sink! i'd like to think that they're trying to give us a bath too 😂
Thank you soooo much for this information currently buying a bird and the store employee gave me no information just the basic on how to feed them!! Soo thank you for this!! 🐦💙
I put a small plunger on the wall for the bird to stand on. He does like being directly under the water, he stands there and I move him around the water. Even on his head, his head will be bobbing from the water hitting his head. And he will stand there. I won't do it to long cuz I don't want water in his ear holes or im scared of him drowning lol. But it's the funnies thing. He'll be soaked and look bald from his feathers being so wet. It's hilarious 🤣
Loved this elpful video.....I shower with my parrot Ricco.....and he is liking it more every time.....I have been placing him on a hand towling on my chest and lightly wrapping him while we have our " CUDDLE" time Where he usually falls to sleep for around 40min while I'm massaging around his head, neck and beak. When he has had enough, I use potty training to go on the towl before playtime together on my bed, but now I will let him dry off naturally and then have cuddle time without the handtowl...
Thank you! Such a lovely relationship with your conures. I got one about 2 users ago. He's three now. A bit feisty, but he loves a shower in the sink. I put the multi stream on very light. He also loves a bath in his water dish, daily! I'll try the shower. I think he'd like it. He loves lots of attention! He's talking, and quite cute.
Your birds are so beautiful! I have a Peach Faced Lovebird and he is always coming into the bathroom to take a little bath or shower. It's just bout the cutest thing ever!
My cockatiel named Tweety ( a male) just likes to sit on my head while I shower because I don't have a shower perch, but it's kind of hard to do. This vid was very helpfull and your little conure is so cute and fluffy!! ❤
My greencheek actually lovvvves the pressure from the shower, haha.. Granted I don't have it set to the highest pressure or hold him too close to the shower head, but strong enough to act as a massage for him. The way I got him used to it (and still shower him to this day) was to sit him on my finger and cup my other hand and hold it just above his head like an umbrella (or a parental's wing) and slowly bring him in to the stream. It was a bit of a process and never forced him beyond his comfort zone, but it only took about 2 weeks until he was in love with the experience and quite often starts to fall asleep. 9/10 if he's being super bratty and I can't work out why, I'll take him in to the shower with me and for the rest of the day he's the most gentle, affectionate little dude.
you are SO underrated for no reason! i love your videos they are always SO helpful! im getting a cockatoo in about a month and im so exited! your vid are honestly the best videos the educate so many people and just so helpful in general! just subscribed and like the vid! TYSM YOUR THE BEST AND I LOVE YOU LITTLE BIRDIES!!!!!!!!!
I shower with my cockatiels they love it.I'm gonna introduce my Lovebird to showering.I have taken her countless times to familiarise her with the bathroom so now it's just to try and get her in the shower and take your advice from there.
@Flying Fids In summer time i showered with my cockatiel in the rain outside. Her wings were NOT clipped and she was not free flight trained. She just trusted me and stayed on my finger while spreading her wings in the natural rain and having a shower.
My bird loves baths and when we are like turning on the sink and he’s out of his cage, he comes over and bathes under it, so I think he’d be fine with a shower
These birds are the cutest little ducks I’ve ever seen my birds wouldn’t do that in 100 years but I still love them to such friendly but there is $60 for their personality is a steal of a deal
Surprising I just watched this video today and watched to try it out. My bird usually likes taking a bath in the sink but if I take a step back or do any movements it’ll just stop and fly back on me then that would be the end of its shower because it won’t go back in. recently now I’ve been struggling to just get it into the sink now. So I tried this method and my bird loves the shower sitting on my arm. it’s so satisfying to see it close its eyes and enjoy the water.
My bird is so young and doesnt understand the concept of actually water bathing as she does it herself, I've been using mist from a spray bottle, and also brought her to the bathroom, she is getting used to it, and I can't wait to see if she'll actually want to go into the shower.
Mine loves the bathroom he showers with me , loves to sit on the shower rail m I got a bird shower stand the one you about had it years , he’s not fussy on that , he does love the dryer , he put his wings out , he so funny
I've always wanted to try this, but have always had one concern that I can't seem to find the answer to... Can the fumes from your shampoo and body wash hurt your bird?
Thats a good question, this needs answering lmao, cause ive been half assing my showers whenever mango is with me soap wise cause i just dont want to mess his feathers or resp. Tract up...
I hold my gc conure in one hand and then use my wet hand to damp him down. He'll even let me do under his wings. I then put him on his perch with me and he waits till I've finished. It's great 😄
Loved this video! The part about "NOT blow-drying your bird", I DIDN'T know about, when I first got my bird almost 4 yrs ago, so I did do that a couple times (Oops!) Now, it was maybe a whole year after having our bird that i found out about NOT burning scented candles, NOT using teflon-coated cook-ware, etc, & was also told that a lot of times EVEN BLOW-DRYERS use that "so-it-won't-catch-on-fire teflon-like coating/s", & how ALL of those things can cause serious harm to birds' breathing system! (Eeks!) On a LIGHTER note, our youngest (6 month old) bird ALWAYS follows me to the bathroom, & whenEVER he hears the toilet-paper being unrolled, he "HAS TO get first dibs", as in, "have to" take the FIRST TWO squares of unrolled toilet paper, & rolling them up into a little ball, & toss it up in the air for him to catch it, before he'll leave me to attend to my own business!
My Conure and Budgie love just being in the mist of the shower. I love the other ideas of offering baths in different ways in the bathroom. Great video 👍🏽❤️
wow i never knew that. My budgie is always so eager to go in front of the water so I let him do that. He loves standing right below the water hose. He always shakes his head and I didnt know it meant they had water in their nose. Thank you!
Our pineapple conure love to sit on the shoulder, will place a washer there so has something to hold onto. Most days it a simple shower and others can be a full on soaking lol
Hi there! I’m buying a cockatiel tomorrow, and I wanted to know how often I should shower with them and how often for them to shower/bathe for their health.
I tried the shower, my 8 week Rosie face lovebird was not keen, but loves a warm bath in a soup bowl, then we sit in the sun for a bit and have a cuddle 😁
I have 2 budgies, a fat one called Sky and a very soft scared one called Ocean. Do you have any tips to help a scared bird become used to me? Thank you so much for creating your videos. Your birds are so beautiful!
My cockatiel is terrified of water, so he never bathes. The only way he’s been in water without freaking out was in the shower, but he still wasn’t preening it bathing himself kinda just sitting there chill
My red lored Amazon named Baby used to shower with me and he loved playing in the water and mist. I had him from age one, and he was one year old when we got him, so we grew up together. I lost him last year at 41, and miss his company and daily blabber speeches. Everyday. 🌈💖
