Just to let everyone know, there is a spelling error at 1:32. The text should read "Written in a Major OR Minor Key", not "Major OF Minor Key." Sorry about that! Thanks for watching =)

I like this video. You should do more videos. I am in my third year of vocal training. I am trying to get into a professional choir and oof is that challenging. I must learn to sight sing both the major and minor scales in order to get into the choir of my dreams. I failed the audition two times 😫. The choir director thinks it's great that I keep trying. (It's also expensive to pay for the vocal training). I'm almost there but its been very challenging. I love the journey and it's been amazing. Anyway, the point is that sight singing is not hard per say, it just requires a lot of focus and practice. I didn't learn to sight sing using the numbering the note method. I was taught to use the solfage syllables Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do method. Either method is correct. Why does sight singing matter? Well, a vocalist cannot sing in an advanced choir without knowing music theory and how to sight sing. Sight singing enables a vocalist to learn music faster. To better explain this, let's say your choir director hands out the music to sing at choir rehearsal. You never heard the song before and it's not on RU-vid. So you solfage the melody then you know how to sing it faster. One other important thing about solfage is that you need to also learn rhythm because they both go hand-in-hand in identifying the song. I noticed that if I am off rhythm, I can't identify the song even though I sang the solfage syllables correct. Last thing, in an advanced choir, the choir director could add a soprano descant to ornament a song with an 8 measure interlude before the descent begins (this is not uncommon) and the sopranos are required to identify and sing that descant right away. The point is that if the vocalist doesn't know solfage, he/she will not be able to sing on the same level as the other singers. The director will see this and then the director speaks with the vocalist and asks you why aren't you singing? This is how a vocalist gets cut from the choir and isn't allowed back until he or she passes the sight singing test. It's very important to learn it. It benefits choral singers as well as musicians. Once you master it, you end up loving it because the music becomes so easy to sing. Sorry for being long-winded. I just wanted to explain what happens in choral singing if you don't master solfage sight singing. Believe it or not, I saw a vocalist pass a solfage test because she knew the song that she was tested on. She got into the choir but ultimately got cut from the choir. Looking forward to your next video. ❤

The remaining videos are still in the works. Scripts are written and footage is shot, it’s just the editing that remains-which takes a long time lol I’ve had a really busy year and now have more time this summer to complete this project. Thank you so much for your comment!
