Dear Lois, thank you so much for the singing tips of this song that I love. I live on Montserrat island in the Caribbean and love classical singing. With no one to teach me, I taught myself to sing and took exams up to Grade 8 in both the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College of Music in London. By telling myself "Yes you can!" over and over, I enrolled for Trinity's Associate in Classical Performance and, to my great surprise, passed the performance section of the exam. I had to forgo the written section as there were no computers on the island (hence no Google) at the time and no music books in the public library. Before I die, my greatest wish is to have even one singing lesson.
Hello! What an incredible story....and congratulations on your significant accomplishments. What songs did you sing for your Associate? And what will you do next?? Thank you for singing with me!
Hello, I'm from Poland and I've been performing this song many times. I appreciate your effort into this video and I'm grateful that you've made this song even more popular. But I've got some issues about pronunciation. You're actually teaching an Italian pronunciation. We pronounce "h" in Latin, and we read "g" not as dʒ (e.g. in "judge"). But is understandable, because Italian tenors sang it in that way. I mean you should emphasise, that this is "an Italian pronunciation". It's not Latin at all. Moreover, I assume that you're posting your videos for English-speaking world. The point is that normally the letter "r" is always read as "r" (you can't use the sound ə here). Without this "r" at the end, "pauper" (meaning poor, humble) becomes "paupe". There's no such a word in Latin. Thank you for your film, anyway! :-)
Hi! Thanks so much for posting. You're right about my chosen pronunciation - I personally like Italianate Latin, and could write pages about why! 😄 My videos are intended to be user-friendly and confidence-boosting for the widest range of vocal abilities, regardless of first language. I guess my online approach (with inclusivity at the heart of what I post) is more about keeping things fun than intellectually stimulating! 🙃
@hamutulia5556 the pronunciation of this Latin ( it sounds like Italian phonics) belongs to the Eclesiastic Latin, in other words, the standarized pronunciation given by the Catholic church. Panis angelicus is, obviously, a Catholic song about Eucharist. That' s why the " strange" phonetic from the teacher. The sounds you are suggesting correspond to " Classical Latin", the one based on Virgilio's or Cicero's writings and comments, as there isn't recordings from the real spoken Latin. In fact, both versions ( eclesiastical and classical) are correct in their own contexts.
I certainly can! There are many settings of these sacred texts. Do you mean the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria? And which version of The Lord's Prayer do you have in mind?
Thank you for explaining things so clearly! I have been learning this song for a while but I wasn't sure where to breathe!...thanks to you it s all clear and simple! I was running out of breath at the end!!! May God bless you! Yvette A.
Thank you VERY MUCH for taking the trouble to create this video. My choral group will do this on the feast of Corpus Christi and you are our Teacher. 😊 Thank you again, you are blessed with such a giving spirit. Extremely grateful, may you and your family be abundantly blessed. 😊⛪️
Hi there! I'm so happy to hear this. I'd love to see a video of your group singing it - would you consider sharing? Maybe I could zoom in to one of your rehearsals? Thank you for singing with me! 😁🎶
Thank you for this wonderful instruction! I will be singing this at church next Sunday, and though I know it, this was a great help to me. The only change I made is to sing it the second time in English. ( O, Lord I pray to Thee...)
Hello Loiuse. I would like to express my gratitude to you because of this video I was able to sing this song for the ist time and ist Latin song. I was able to sing it successfully in a church singing competition on the elimination round...and your comprehensive video on "Ave Maria" helped me a lot and won the final round. 🎉 Again Thankyou very much for your kindness and generosity by sharing your singing knowledge and techniques here in youtube. God bless you immensely.⚘️💕🎉

Hello! I am trying to find who sings this song in English, I am Brazilian and we sing in portuguese. But can't find the song singing in English. Need help, please, thanks.
@@ver63carlucia Hi - welcome to my channel. That's a tricky one. Some things just don't translate well, and I think this is one of them which is probably why it's hard to find it sung in English anywhere. 😁🎶
Writing from France but I can undertand a bit english. Since I don't know how to read music, it's so precious videos like the one you have made. It help me so much. Many thanks 😍
