I love this song and I haven't sang for years. I picked this one because I hear it and listen to it often. I"m 64 and sang in choir at school and church for years. I only sang a couple solos during school performances but was always called on to sing parts the teacher wanted me to have the other students hear how it should sound. Ok LONG story but I'm having trouble UNlearning what I was taught especially by one teacher in church was to pronounce each word with extra effort to be heard and understood I guess. I forget so much. I quit singing about 20 years ago when my mom died who always sang with me. Now I have health issues and bad lungs (genentics) because I never smoked and can't breath . So I have some big challenges. Ha ! OH could you explain why vowels are the big thing and how singing has changed over time, or has it and I had a bad teacher ?
Its SOOO beautiful! Thrilled to hear that you are focused on singing. How we understand the voice is always changing because vocal scientists are always uncovering new information! This means our approach to teaching shifts too! I suggest you check out the Singeo members area - we just released a whole course on vowels and how they change everything. It will really help bring clarity to the current science of singing :) I also suggest you use a straw to exercise your voice - sing through it.. doing slides and singing scales etc for a few min each day and it will improve you voice! Finally, my best advice is to let go and ENJOY singing. Forget for a little while about being clear with your words and just enjoy singing for what it is.
What can I do when emotion overrides the entire experience, chokes me and I can’t sing at all? Seriously… this is an issue I’ve struggled with for a few years now 😌
