The Ukulele Teacher PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do a Kaiser Chief song! their are soo many that would be cool on the ukulele like Coming Home, Ruby, OMG and I Predict a Riot. there are no uke tutorials on their songs and they are my fave band so I am dying to learn. BTW your channel made me get a ukulele because I saw how easy you make it to learn 😆
"Don't play that song, that Achy-Breaky song, the most annoying song I know. 'Cause if you play that song, that Achy-Breaky song, I might blow up my radio..." -Weird Al Yankovik
I used to be horrid at combining singing and playing at first. But I've been getting there. It's just a lot of practice and getting confident with the ukulele and the playing and such. I'm still horrible at both playing the uke and singing . But putting those two together isn't giving me as much trouble anymore :)
Even though I've been playing music since I was 10, I found learning uke to be difficult because I can only sing or play, never both. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who has struggled with this Thank you!
Guys there’s a really good channel Elise Ecklund she does ukulele and guitar tutorials and she’s panic! And tøp trash ect she has an amazing voice also 😂
this came at the right time because i have to perform at school soon and i still don't know how to sing and do the dduudu strumning pattern at the same time
CutieMarkLessPony I practiced that strumming pattern forever and literally never stopped even when I didn't have my ukulele with me and it became automatic so I didn't need to think of strumming, also try to do dduudu without saying down down up up down up ect so you are not relying on speaking it to get the right stumping pattern then your mouth will be freed up to sing
i saw a comment asking for a vid on singing and strumming on one of your videos. I subscribed today in the hope that you'd make it some day. There must be a god above.
I wish I'd watched this video when I was trying to learn my first song! Would have saved me days of confusion! Now I'm ready to decide on the next song to learn, and I'll feel much more confident! I was feeling pretty good about singing the song in my head while I strummed it out, but as soon as the words came out of my mouth out loud, my fingers suddenly forgot what THEY were supposed to do. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Love your app, too!
I really struggled with this when I first started. I still struggle with more complex strum patterns so tend to keep it more simple, but I've also only been playing for 3 months so I have lots of time to learn! I love your tutorials!
I think the number one step would actually be to practice each individually. Combining the two is easy, if you know how to do each on their own. The problem is that people are impatient and want to learn two skills at once, singing and playing. If you first learn to play the song (by heart) and separately learn to sing it, it should be a cakewalk to overlap it.
If you try to play a difficult pianopiece you also dont just learn both hands at the same time. You first figure out what each hand is supposed to do and then combine them.
Hey I just wanted to say thank you for doing these videos, I thoroughly enjoy watching and you are a very skilled teacher. The way your lessons are set up very is very accessible for a beginner no matter which song or video one chooses. You communicate your methods very well via video which I find is a very difficult thing to do. At this point a day does not pass when "HELLO it's ME! THE UKULELE TEACHER!" doesn't blast through my speakers at least once. You've played a significant role in bringing and keeping music into my life and for that, I thank you.
I have always admired the way you make tutorial videos and tried to lear to play but I could not really sing and play at once. Now I'm confident I will succeed, thank you so much again!
let me just get it out there that you have been so instumental in teaching me the ukulele. i know so many songs now. i am self taught and enjoy your lessons so much and find them both helpful and entertaining. you are better than the populele! keep it up!
I gave up guitar as a child because I couldn't strum and sing. Ran into the same problem as an adult with the uke but this tutorial is really helping me slow down and process the steps!
Yes I love all of these little helper lesson videos and the tøp ukulele ❤ Also could u do a video on muting and strumming patterns because I find strumming back and forth with muting and not is hard
This is the best video I have watched so far! I gave it a go immediately and I managed to get a few words in for once doing the four strums down. I have hope and I'm excited to keep practising. Thanks John!
I bought my ukulele a year ago, and this is my new year resolution to learn ukulele! Your videos are so helpful! It's my second day learning, and I love it!
Thank you so much for this vid. I felt so stupid not being able to concentrate on playing and singing at the same time. I thought I was the only person in the world who had this problem, I swear. Now I'm better. Gotta practice more. Nice exercises. Thank you once again, the Ukulele Teacher!
I am only a Uke Beginner but i love how you explain all the chords used in the song or excercise in your tutorials. I am very keen on practicing and your videos are the reason why. That's why I am very #Thankful4Uke .
Oh yay! I've been working on learning the uke since August and have a teacher and everything but strumming, playing the chords and singing were just not in my wheel house. Well, NOW it is! I watched this video over and over and slowed it down and played and played and I GOT IT!!!! Thank you so much! Love your channel and can't wait to follow a whole bunch more of your videos! Cheers!
Thank you so much! My music teacher said I need to practice playing the ukulele and singing at the same. I wasn't sure what I should do and I was to scared to ask but seeing this video has been uploaded I absolutely freaked out ❤️
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Lots of videos on strumming but I haven't found anyone else who taken the time to show how to strum and sing and how to figure the timing. Thank you so much.
I have been so frustrated and upset because I love music a lot, but I could never sing and strum at the same time, but this really helped! I super appreciate it. :)
wow this is such a good way of breaking it down. i've only ever played drums before so trying to figure out strings seems really complicated to me, but i think this will help a lot so thank you!
I needed this video! I've been following your work since two years so far, and at the same time I learned how to play uke, I improved my english, since I'm not a native speaker :) Now it's time to practice for me, because my brain refuses to sing and play at the same time... Thanks, you are awesome!
This was honestly the most helpful video I’ve ever watched. I went from being so frustrated that I couldn’t play and sing at the same time, to doing it with ease. You sir are a great teacher!!! ❤️👌🏼
Thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed and I even understand it. I learned with your channel more about music than in 10 years of music lessons in school...
Could you do a supplemental video teaching how to do each individual song? (Amazing Grace/ Achy Breaky Heart) Because I feel like that would help with the strumming pattern and singing if we knew the bigger picture to go along with the lesson!
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS I've had trouble with strumming and singing for a long time and so this really helps Also, out of all the videos I've seen on singing and strumming, this one has made the most sense, and been the easiest. So, thank you!
Mate, you are awesome! I am learning a lot with you, and I really needed this lesson! I started playing the uke 3 months ago and now it's my passion. Could you teach us "Personal Jesus" from Depeche mode? Regards from West London!
Espe Barrera I wanted to buy it last October but it was out of stock. However, it was in stock again two months ago, that's when I bought mine. I don't know if that's still the case, but I would just check on their website :D
I've been doing it at the same time since I first started learning about 3 years ago, and for me it's always been really easy, so it always confuses me when people say that it's amazing that I can do that and I'm like ok then
I didn't realise this was something people found difficult. The first thing I played when I got my ukulele was 'Let it go' and I already knew all the words so I learnt the chords and that was that.. haha
Could you do a lesson on the song "Scared of heights" by Espen Lind? I love your channel, it has helped me learn ukulele faster than I could imagine!! Thank you sooo much :D
