Watching this video with a 17.5 year old (female) cat lying between me and the keyboard... I'd argue that "Burnt out ends of smoky days/The stale cold smell of morning" should be an octave lower; at least, that's how Elaine Paige sings it in the commercial release.

This is a challenging song because of the low note to high note transitions, and you definitely need to be emotionally connected to the lyrics for the climax to have maximum impact. Thank you for all those good and usefull advices. I love this song so much, but as a man, it is very hard for me to sing it properly, not for the down notes but when it climbs to the "Touch me" and even more on the "it's so easy" which climbs even higher !" I reach them, but it is impossible for my voice to keep a vibrato on these high notes. If you have an advice for me to be able to keep it, it would be great. Thanks.

I use to re-text music pieces of all kinds for small cabaret and private events and was quite astonished how substantially hard to sing "Memories" was because of the extremes highs and lows. You helped me a bit to calm down and take it easy ;-). PS: I don't believe there are really singers who can do 3 - 4 octaves!!!
