Hi Meli, I've got a question please! You said at the start of the exercise when you go down, relax the jaw, to raise the soft palate. But then when you're explaining about projecting the sound forward, it looks like you're relaxing the jaw as you sing the higher pitched note. I'm trying it in my local park at the moment and it seems to work best the second way! Have I got this completely wrong? It feels like lowering the jaw on the higher note amps it up a bit. Thanks for the video, it's great, always seemed to strain my voice singing high previously, but this feels a lot more natural and less like I'm battling against myself.
Thanks for the question . As you go higher in pitch you should aim to keep your mouth flexible and a little more open, doesn’t have to be too much. As always listen to your intuition, if it feels good then it’s good 👍
Doing this as a warm-up to practising "Crow Jane" now, the old Skip James song. It feels a bit like a high-wire act, but relaxing into it it seems to be working🙂
