Thank you so much for your fine channel. It is so nice getting an education at my age (77). I recently added an inverter to the solar system in my camper but have run into the same problem as others, which is a charging loop i.e., -battery-inverter-converter-battery. I wonder if I can solve this by putting a diode between the converter and battery so that power can run from, but not to the battery on that circuit, however I don't know what size diode or where I can find one. The solar system charges the battery separately. Thank you again for you fine channel.
While I agree on using a clamp meter to find relative consumption for power, the issue with the example of a fridge for instance is that the compressor uses a very high amount of power when it kicks on. Unless you measure this appliance at that usage, then you will be measuring less than your required power use in this specific case. Otherwise, the information here is great!
you forgot the starting load of motors and other units ( ac, well pump ect.) called inrush current as in 220 volt 11 amp run but 33amp to start (1/2 second) that is why i use low frequency inverter. they have better surge capacity for this
Hi,1 am having a submersible water motor of 1 horse power but actually consume 950watts,can I run it on 2.5kva or 2.5kw inverter, the inverter maximum output current is 8amps.
i have a 3000 watt inverter, im guessing the surge max wattage is around 6000 watts for a few seconds. I tried to power a 6000 BTU AC and i cant get the inverter to stay on for a few seconds. There is no way this small 6000 BTU AC compressor surges more that 6000 watts. My Inverter powers my other AC but it is a little smaller at 5000 BTUs. Why do you think the inverter refuses to power the 6000 BTU AC @ 618 Watts?
Hello Manny, it is good to hear from you. It might be useful to verify the rated surge current of the inverter, and measure the current draw as you start the AC. Good luck! Jesse
I have a question that ive asked several channels and none have answered. Im wanting to run a 5,000 btu window ac in a cargo trailer for boondocking. Last summer i was told it couldn't be done by a dozen channels that are solar related, i argued with them and now most of them are proving it can be done lol. They are ignoring my questions now, i guess i upset them. I have 8 280 3.2 lifepo4 cells, for weight reasons and in case of a piece of equipment malfunction or if i just need to take one out for a temporary use for something else, I'd like to do two 12v suitcase banks and run them as 12v in parallel. Is it possible to get a solar charger controller all in one that will work on two banks in parallel, and still work with only one bank while also being able to handle a pma vertical axis wind turbine? I want to stick one on the front of the trailer to charge while driving or parked in case the sun isn't out. I believe ill need over 1,000 watts of solar, so I'll be using 4 330 watt mono crystalline panels on the roof with a raisable frame for optimum charging. There are different pma alternators from 12v to 24v 1,000 to 3,000 watts, and i have seen a comment that you have to match the wind generator charge to the solar to incorporate the two systems, but I've never done either. Until i know what i need and can do i don't want to start buying equipment. So far i just have the 8 cells and know what i want to do. Ive watched to many videos to count, and none cover what i want to do. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hello Mike, it is good to hear from you. What you are describing is possible indeed. I can provide you with advice through one of the service options available on the main website: I will paste the link at the end of this message. Alternatively, you might also benefit from browsing the topic-related playlists on this channel. Good luck! Jesse www.solarsolution.co
An interesting question John! Why are you considering this, and what do you intend to use it for? Semi-conductor powered inverters are generally the superior choice compared to dynamotors / motor-generators due to reliability and energy efficiency. I am looking forward to hear from you, Jesse.
