How to Smoke a Boston Butt on a Recteq Bullseye

This is Part II in our "How to" series on Smoking a Boston Butt: The Cook! This particular series is geared towards the novice bbq’er that is just getting into bbq.
We injected this 7lbs pork butt with a 50% mixture of Uncle Yammy’s Grilling Sauce and Apple Cider Vinegar and seasoned it with Kosmo’s Q Cow Cover Hot, Dirty Bird, and Texas Beef. The pit we’ll be using is a Recteq RT-B380 Bullseye and finishing the butt in the oven to save on pellets. **NOTE- Your times will vary depending on your temp you cook at (250-275) and your pit.**

I love my recteq grills! I use my bullseye to cook anything! I actually cooked my thanksgiving Turkey in it this past year. I mostly use my 700 for brisket. I’ve been wanting to try a brisket in the bullseye because it does pork shoulder fantastic.

I just got this smoker and forgot I had a baster with a needle for injecting meat and apple cidar vinegar sounds like a good deal! you got me excited man! i also like the idea of the throwaway aluminum as a drip pan.

Y didn't you cooking that on the Bullseye rather than the oven that's not smoking or grilling?

We did smoke it on the bullseye until we had to wrap it. After it’s wrapped, we put it in the oven to finish off so we can save pellets. The meat is not going to get anymore smoke once it’s wrapped, so why not save money on pellets and use the oven to finish it off.

@@smokeytirebbq I always finish in the oven (and then rest in a cooler). Correct it doesn't matter where the heat is coming from once it's wrapped. and the oven will offer a far more controlled and easier finish.
