What's the importance of sampling the sound in a new audio track?
@No.0.o.0
@No.0.o.0 2 года назад
Consistency, efficiency,. Once you commit to audio you can add it to your snares folder and then move on to the next one if you're in the mood to just make a bunch of snares. Also warping and pitching.

but that snare you created is completely in mono... today's snare drums sound very wide in the high end... I analyze a DLR snare and it has nothing to do with yours... and in current tracks of yours the same thing happens with that type of snare I assure you that you will not be able to compete in the current market I assure you
@basho5493
@basho5493 Год назад
lol comparing apples and oranges, as DLR is a totally different vibe and subgenre of dnb - TK are top neurofunk producers and have been for nearly the last decade (even since they were paimon/place2b). It's like comparing lenzman's drums to noisia, or break with black sun empire. Obviously different subgenres would have different stereoimage requirements and tastes. Plus this is just them being kind enough to share their general process of making a snare. Also, a super wide snare might work with more minimal stuff, but could clash with heavier neuro basslines/percussion/distorted rides to fill upper freqspectrum: so opting for something more centred and snappier might cut thru the mix better and possibly replicates better too on more mono systems on a dancefloor - valid considerations.

@@basho5493 "Also, a super wide snare might work with more minimal stuff, but could clash with heavier neuro basslines/percussion/distorted rides to fill upper freqspectrum" Well, I have to tell you that I hardly agree with you... these guys only show the processes they want... which seems completely legitimate
@basho5493
@basho5493 Год назад
@@endosick3998 Fair enough we don't have to agree. But to say TK can't compete in "current market" because of a snare tutorial video they share with fans is kinda crazy. These guys have had long term success in the neurofunk scene, are OGs, and super talented with sound design and song arrangements. I've learnt so much just from watching their youtube videos. If u wanted wide snares, u can do whatever they show here, then follow up afterwards by applying any stereo widening plugin or very short delay or reverb, then maybe mid/side eq the lower end into mono, while keeping the upper end super wide. Just google or youtube how to make sounds wide then add it to what you learn here. This process of making a snare is pretty much what everyone does, with slight differences. Basically: Frequency-considerations = Bottom/Mid/Upper layer + Time considerations = Transient/Body/Tail. However you make/find those elements is up to you. Check out the tutorials from icicle (who also layers with live drums) and current value (synthetic sounding drums). Icicle uses more detailed FM technique to build up the harmonic content for the bottomlayers to match/support a particular live drum sample's frequency profile. Current Value only differs in the envelope-shape for the white noise layer/EQ automation, and not layering with a live sample (his particular taste/style/sound). Also similar process in Fade Black tutorial on drums. Ultimately, everyone shows that the basic concepts are the same as in this video. So your criticism about "no DLR wide snares = can't compete in current market" isnt really fair and makes no sense, as it would apply equally to icicle/currentvalue/fadeblack etc. as well, but obviously not true, since they're all successful in dnb just like TK. This isnt a tutorial about making a DLR style wide snare, or whatever snare on a song that has the most views on drumandbassarena/skankandbass playlist. It's just TK sharing how to make original sounding snares for their style of dnb, via layering, so everyone doesnt have to keep using the same samples from packs. At the end of the day, whether a snare is wide or centred, is really just a matter of taste and depending on the subgenre. Anyways good luck and have fun making music!
