So glad to hear Deng describe this movement; Always loved watching her compete- she's such a technician and her movements with the weight are like poetry in motion.

P.S I was listening to a guy say Olympic weightlifting too complicated better sticking to back squat deadlifts OHP for muscle development. Then saw him receiving simple instructions on a new skill and he wasn't a very intuitive student when receiving good instruction, seemed obvious to me what was being instructed. SO if a quick learner, olympic weight lifting a good way to get strong for other sports?

whats actually pulling the arms up if you're not shrugging and also not using the arm muscles?

Momentum from the vertical leg drive should provide majority of the power. The shoulders and elbows upward movement is to guide the bar path. It's movement cue so that people don't end up doing an Upright Row.

Olympians no wraps. How do u train grip? If dont need to how come? I guess extremely small minority lift the super heavy weights and to get to that point a lot of other limiting factors?

it's important to keep your arms relaxed for weightlifting. usually, you do that with the help of hook grip, but sometimes, your thumbs get beat up or you just don't feel like it that day, so you use straps instead. I don't think most weightlifters care about their grip strength lol
