Love this process and how you laid it out! Lots of new community builders are scared to do the "live call" portion of the work, but it pays such dividends! Do you find that the people who were in a "cohort" together tend to form bonds in the community as well?

Thanks so much, Crowdstack, for the lovely comment! I definitely think that people in a cohort form bonds. This is one of the reason I recommend this early adopter initiative: it provide a simple way to form early bonds in a setting with a focused set of discussions and engagement. :-)

Amazing information! I just found your channel and I’m here to stay! I’m about to launch my new community and this is the exact approach I wanted to take, I just wasn’t sure how. Now I know 😁

Conversation starters. On a video platform. 15 minutes on why, vision, mission. Describe the starting content. How you can help form the group. Feedback needed. Call to do share one fact about yourself. Run a demo. Rinse and repeat.

Appreciating your efforts with the video(s) Jono, thank you! : ). _If_ one does the fun 'introduce yourself and share something semi-nuanced about yourself' thing within the call, would you add another CTA for post-call too?
@jonobacon
@jonobacon 2 месяца назад
Thanks so much! I think the CTA at the end of the call should ideally be to contribute in a simple but meaningful way (e.g. kick of a discussion, share an idea etc.)

Sometimes, it seems starting a new community is a bit of a random thing: "I'll initiate a community, and if it's good, it will run by itself." Not so... So thanks, Jono, for this more structured and goal-oriented approach! I'll be sure to try it out. :-)

Loved this ! My biggest question with the early people in the community is what’s in it for them? Would you pay them to be there?

Fab video, Jono - it would be great to see some examples of successful decks for use in the first couple of steps. What should they contain?

Thank you for this video. In our case, we already have a community of around 700 costumers but want to change them to another platform and reset it all (we are even changing the name of the community, so that it's clear that it's going to be a "new era"). We are planning on starting off this new community with them, and later on open up for new users (even if they are not costumers). Do you think it's a good idea to start the first cohort directly with all of the 700? They have been around for about 3 years with us, although our FB group is dead :/ (more reason why we are doing all this).

Exactly what I needed to learn, Joni (ps searched u on LinkedIn and requested to connect). You mentioned the construct of the deck/intro. I have several that have worked in the past but not for community. Do you offer a deck outline? Thanks.
@jonobacon
@jonobacon Год назад
Thanks so much! Sadly I don’t have a deck template right now to share, but maybe I could create one in the future - could be handy. :-)

Thanks for this video, Jono! Wondering if there is a prerequisite research done prior to deciding on who to invite to the first and subsequent cohorts? And if so, how does one go about doing that?
@jonobacon
@jonobacon 3 года назад
Thanks, Mai! As a general rule I recommend the cohorts are people who you know and are already enthusiastic about what you do such as eager customers, avid social media fans, etc. You want them to not only help you iron out the kinks in the community, but also feel great that they were selected and invited first. This will help them to become Core members.

@@jonobacon Thanks so much for this, Jono. So it's also like we are discovering what kind of community we would like to build together.
@jonobacon
@jonobacon 3 года назад
Exactly. 😊 When communities feel like they can be created and fostered together, it increases the sense of ownership and involvement from members, and that in turn creates more interesting, diverse communities. 🤘
