Fantastic demo. Appreciate the use of the X-acto for cable stripping.

I tried to solder neutron right angle connector yesterday but my volume was way low in the finished cable. Your video teaches me what I did wrong. Thanks dude, you are great. Rock on!

I'm about to try soldering my first right-angled Neutrik, so that was really helpful, thank you!

You need to dismantle the first black isolation even further. Just to the beginning of the bridge way before the soldering log for ground. Hard to describe in words. Greetings from Frankfurt, Germany 😉.

Outstanding. These Neutrik right angle jacks are a real pain in the @ss. This gives some great tips. Thank you!

Maybe you can shed some light on a perplexing problem I've had with My Mogami/Neutrik project. I'm using the NP2R, but the black version with gold plating. Same 2524 cable. I made two cables last night, both straight plug at one ends and rt angle at the other. Both are cables are similar length within a few cm. They sound different. At first it was a drastic difference because on one I failed to strip the black conductive sleeve back and had a 600 ohm short. I fixed that and now both cables measure the same DC resistance tip-tip (near zero), sleeve-sleeve (also near zero), and tip-sleeve is open circuit, as it should be. But the two cables I made sound different. One is absolutely darker than the other. It's kind of subtle but not the kind of thing you need a special ear to hear. It's obvious with a Telecaster. I measured the capacitance tip to sleeve and it's about 500nF for both cables. I'm at a total loss as to explain why they sound different. I'm going to make a third cable and see if it's more like the first one (brighter) or second (darker).

I'd hazard a guess that you had [at least] one bad solder connection....it might be connected but not completely, hence altering how much signal is transmitted. I'd try resoldering all of the connections, cutting off a little cable on each one first to have a fresh go at it. how did your third cable sound by the way?

Mate I’m deciding between the G6 or the Mogami for my bass cables. It’s a subtle difference from what I can gather. Thoughts?

Kade Turner depends on where you’re going to use it. I prefer the sound of the mogami, not hyped and clear. But it doesn’t lay very well.. can be a little stiff. Canare feels lovely and lays really well.. sounds great.. not as neutral sounding as mogami.. but still really nice.

@@tonerevivalengineering4847 Awesome response haha! I thought along those lines also. I love the way the Canare feels and how useable it is, but I thought the Mogami had a better or more clear “sound”. It’s a bit of a trade off I think. I’m building a custom pedalboard and already have G6 leads, so it may pay to stick with them, plus it comes in red which is good. I’ve never used or felt Mogami so just doing the research now.

Always been a big neutrik fan, but this connector is probably one of their poorest designs. The amount of those small shielded tabs that just break off for no reason has caused a lot of comebacks.
