Hi Sabrah. So nice to see you again , hope all is well there🌸 💕 Thanks for the lesson, it was great and lovely as always. I've just realised that I need to spend more time learning about intonation cos mines is still a work in progress. I would say that one of the ways to sound professional is to just be yourself and avoid using overly formal words cos one might end up spending too much time looking for the word in the head and that's where using fillers comes from sometimes.

Hi Sabe I'm so upset and disappointed. For the very first time, you didn't like my comment. How come?... Is it because of the substance (I was very sincere) Or because of the form? Of course i voluntarily used these fillers taking humorously the opposit view of your point in the lesson; but maybe it's a fail or badly written this time ... Please feel free; be totally blunt and frank with me; I just don't ask for any better; we're a bit like friends now, al least I wish so.. Je t'embrasse, bisous! 🥰🌹💗

Oh in fact Sabe, it is not that better here you know ;-) If you mastered the French language (but you do, don't ya!?... ;-), you would realise it. Fillers , especially 'euh' and many 'verbal tics' are not uncommon even among certain presenters and celebrities! Just as you showcased concerning Boris Johnson :-) But I understand what you mean... Regarding 'like' I do agree so much !!! And even though a non native, I just couldn't Not notice it indeed especially with the 'youngsters' ... A real pain in the -a..- neck for ya I imagine as a tutor, right? ... Gros bisous Sabrah; thanks so much for your kind answers that always please me so much! You are a treasure and such a wonderful teacher; your students are such lucky guys! 🤗 Love ya! 🥰🌹🧡 PS1: By the way, I watched a vid. where you were speaking of the British Summer time with Leila, you remember? And in it, you adorably said 'crème anglais' /kʁɛm ɑ̃ɡlɛ/; so cute (!) but in fact, 'crème' is of the feminine genre in French and therefore you have to put the adjective to the feminine i.e. 'anglaise' and here you can hear and have to pronounce the final 'z' that sounds: crème anglaise /kʁɛm ɑ̃ɡlɛz/ . If I'm talking about it, it is because, you know what? ... I love 'la crème anglaise' !! 🤤 P.S2.: Of course, if you are interested Sabrah, I can quote you a few fillers overused these days in France, tell me! Not too many, say, 5 or 6; that way you will be able to identify them if you happen to watch a French progamm ... 😉😊 Je te souhaite un super week-end, ma belle ! Amuse-toi bien ! 👍 (I wish you a super week-end my lovely! Have fun! or éclate-toi bien! (more informal) = Have a blast!)

For a little tenderness I would change my visage I’d change my drunkenness I would change my language Why do you think, ma belle, That at the top of their chants Emperors and minstrels Quite often abandon Glory, powers or wealth? ... ... ~~~~~The Pipe Band Of Glasgow ~~~~ You didn't expect it like that the route There was no briefcase when you were a kid Your body locked up in a silly suit You didn't imagine..., yes, I do know it And I too, I dreamed, a few dreams, too bad! You saw it big and it's a very small life You didn't see it like that, the story line You, You were a storm and a blacky crag But who, in the end, broke your crystal ball Broke your desires, and made you banal? You're ugly in moustache, in ugly sandals Wobbly, bum, little shopping mall caporal You didn't see it that way bro, and next And slowly your life put you knees to carpet You were eight years old when you saw yourself And that very dream, I guess we all had it : First clog, binary drum, first lace and first hat Dancing Bigouden, Cork or West Lothian Blowing thunder in the reed, flutes and pipes Not you within it, not you the beautiful! Who tucked you inside of that drawer, flat packed Like a swordfish swimming in a bathtub? Ugly on weekends, your kids hanging out Missed cap'tain week boat of a funny fair club You didn't see your life like this, right bro? Tapioca, pasta, soup, salsify, tins We all go the same: so so, medium, mezzo The great adventure, yeah, my foot! Tintin! I too I have dreamed of bagpipes of glee Now it's over. Tell me what tickles you? You hadn't quite seen it here, the story You'd have glad done it on a roses venue First clog, binary drum, first lace and first hat Dancing Bigouden, Cork or West Lothian Blowing thunder in the reed, flutes and pipes Not you within it, not you the beautiful! And you didn't foresee, slow, life put you K.O. You're not the one in it, not the one aglow You're not the one within the Pipe Band of Glasgow. F. 11 04 22 Theme: Disillusionment 💗🌹

~~~~~~~~~ O my freedom ~~~~~~~~~~~~ O freedom, I have kept you for so long As a rare pearl and gem O freedom, who helped me the way along Drop anchor and set sail To go anywhere, till the end travelling On the paths of fortune To pick dreamily a rose of the winds On a beam of the moon O freedom, facing your wish and wills My soul was submissive O freedom, I' d given you everything My very last shirting And how much I suffered so that I could quench The least of your demands I changed my country and I lost my friends To win your confidence O freedom, you knew how dismantle My habits and schedules O freedom, you who made me adore Even the solitude You who made me smile when I would see ending A beautiful venture You who protected me when I would go hiding To heal my wounds; and cure O my freedom and yet... Yet I left you One night in December I deserted remote paths and venues We followed together When feet and fists tied and with no distrust I let myself be led And I betrayed you for a sweet love prison And its lovely jailer And I betrayed you for a sweet love prison ... and its lovely jailer. Hey darling Sabrah Long time no see I've been hectic with Uni studying I won't take the C1 I will go straight to C2 (Yeah, I know) Jacob Breath fresh air C2 is tough But seriously I've been studying since I was 5 yo' And two years ago I was also studying for my C1 during almost 2 years The teacher said her self I am waiting you to take the exam Sure you'll pass Then I thought I will go directly to C2 Cause' both are rather expensive Anyway What do you (both) Leila & Sabrah think, teachers? Xd Do you think I am reliable?? Not going to tell you when But I consider myself to have passed like at the beginning of 2023 I'll tell ya' the result Which is likely to be a "yes ma'am, got ya'". Sounds rather obnoxious I know But I promise I am not My self confidence is upgrading yo next level (Not only in English, generally speaking). BTW, what about think it over?? 3:45 You both take care now 🧡🧡
In my language Sabrah? Well, not so much I guess, but maybe and having a thought about it, I tend to use 'en fait' (in fact/basically) a bit too much, with a few others probably... Even if just like you I happen to use 'euh...' (your 'um' and 'errr') sometimes, that is not really a defect I have like so many people here. In fact (;-) I would tend to slow down my flow a little bit to give me more time to think or even pause as you advised very well. You are very right, pauses are important in a speech ... And besides and perhaps to make a rather relevant comparision, it seems to me: aren't the silences as important as notes in Music ? Eventually, what would be music without pauses, right? ... And you, Sabe, except 'err' or 'um' are there some others you personally use sometimes? ... Bisous ma belle and most lovely 😊🥰🙏💗
I don’t think I use too many filler words but Um and er sometimes yes but being a teacher I have tried to cut them down especially for presentations. The worst word to repeat all the time here is ‘like ‘ lots of people have that habit but it doesn’t sound very good! Of course though everything sounds better in French!
How many days it's been, how many nights it's been? How much time has it been since you have left again You had told me "this time, it will be the last break, Fo' ou' torn remote hearts, it is the last shipwreck; In spring, luv', you will see, in spring I will return Spring, it's so beautiful to talk 'bout love and dream We'll go see together all the rebloomed gardens and we will stroll throughout the nice streets of Paris" Say!... When will you come back? Say!... At least do you know? That all the time that flies Can't hardly be caught up That all the time that's lost Can't be caught up no more Spring has fled already, spring has fled a long time The dead leaves are crackling, wood fires are burnin' To see Paris so nice in this late autumn Suddenly I languish, I dream and I 'frisson' I reel, I rock, I roll, and like in the refrain I go, come, twist and turn, my own self I'm draggin' Your images haunt me, I speak to you softly I have the hurt of love, I have the sick of thee Say!... When will you come back? Say!... At least d' you know it?... That all the time that goes Can't hardly be caught up That all the time that's lost Can't be caught up no more And I can love you still, I love you forever I love no one but you, and I love you with love If you can't figure out that you need to return In my best memories, both of us I will turn The world amazes me, I'll hit the road again I will go warm myself under another sun I am not of these whom from grieve let themselves die Do I have the virtue, faith of the sailors' wives? Sabe!... but when will you be back? Say!... do you know it at least? That all the time that's past Is hardly caught again That all the time that's lost ...Never can be regained! 💗
Hi there! Here, what you need is an adjective instead of an adverb; so it is better to say: 'Good class!' and not what you wrote. 🙂 Well done, good class!
Great lesson, Sabrah! I feel the overuse of "you know", "like" as fillers, somewhat hideous. Removing emmm, errrr will be more challenging, but I will give it a try. Hope to improve!! Thanks for your advice . Cheers!!
