I haven't put my lupins in any pots they took two years to come through but they have they gave me a lot of joy to see them I thought that blown in from somewhere 🤔😸 how shall I treat them any differently this is my first year anyhow I would be seriously grateful for for, as I think they look beautiful 🥰✅👑
Such a helpful video - thank you! Just to confirm - in all cases, would you recommend using sandpaper and soaking prior to setting them in the growth medium or paper towel?
Thank you for watching! Yes, breaking the shell of the seed with sandpaper is the best way of ensuring germination, so we'd suggest doing that whether you are setting them straight into the growth medium or paper towel. Hope this helps!
Thank you very much it’s very informative and helpful. If I wanted to straight sow it in my garden bedding would I follow the same steps? Would it still germinate and grow outdoors in the cold?
I sowed lupin seed right in the veggie patch which i dug the lupin into they grew good,,,, youd have to google their cold tolerance according to your location in the globe
I bought wildflower seeds last summer and only one lupin plant grew back. The base of the plant look like a big root and leaves grow back after dead heading in the fall. NO special treatment needed
Hi, sorry this comment must have been missed! Hope you've managed to grow them on okay. Lupins prefer a sunny position once they've germinated and established.
@@enviiuk hi yes they look ok but some of the leaves have turned yellow. Not sure if it’s to do with watering or the fluctuation of temperatures in the greenhouse?
Lupin seeds can be sown from February to September, but early spring is generally considered the best time. If you want blooms the following spring, you can sow seeds directly into the garden in late autumn or early winter. However, sowing in the spring 4-6 weeks before the average last frost date will result in blooms later in the summer. Hope this helps!
from my experience this does not work with silvery lupines, a native wildflower, they end up root rotting once they have there leaves, and no im not over watering.
