Im a Malaysian, moved oversees at 4 years of age. Growing up, I surprisingly sounded and enunciated the words exactly the same, picking up some slang as I visited my motherland and family. Still incorporating Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese, English, Cantonese and broken hokkien in sentences and phrases though. Great video!

About the sarcasm, for me in about 13 years living in Malaysia, actually was opposite, especially with my Chinese gf family and friends, they rarely could get my sarcasm and even jocks. About extra sounds ( a, meh, ah and ...) I aah got so much influenced by you guys that people often assume I am Malaysian too 🤦‍♂️😁 sometimes it's really hard to express my feelings leh without using them la 😁 Anyway it's lovely and cute 😘terimah kasi, ok tq 😂

Western people do use sarcasm a lot, but they make it obvious through their intonation. However sometimes it's not appropriate and sarcastic people can be seen as pessimistic or mean

The complaining all the time, I am curious… ¿Maybe this is less common among Malaysians who are Muslim? Among my Malaysian friends that we are all Muslim, I feel like don’t complain that much, possibly because our religion Islam actually discourages from complaining a lot. Islamic teachings encourage us to be patient, live with gratitude to Allah, and more so try to “see the silver lining” even in challenging situations. Only thing I hear complaining about among Muslim Malaysians is what *all* Malaysian will always complain about, which is “jam” 🚙 🚗 🚙 in the cities or poor state of the roads themselves in kampung. Occasionally hear complaint like you said of “Why the sun so hot bah? ☀️ “ haha 🤣 ¿What is your impression of this based on having lived in Malaysia your whole life, aside from your time at Uni in Australia? ¿Have you noticed that Malaysians who are Muslim complain less? Just curious 🧐
