Great vid, as usual :). One note on kick turns: I see far too many people who start the turn by putting the valley ski at a relatively steep angle. You can save a lot of energy if you actually make the last step before a kick turn less steep, almost flat, and then turn your mountain ski so that is almost parallel to the valley ski, with the legs relatively close to each other. You will not skid and you will need far less strength to make the turn, but you do need a little bit of hip flex :).

Good way to have basic skills is to just go few times cross country skiing or using gliding snowshoes. Basically the same thing in the flat and if you need to turn etc.

Hey Xavier, nice vid as always! Any advice on how to improve edge hold on steep and firm traverses? I find myself often with the ski crampons on and a twisted outer knee of a huge angle to keep grip. Really uncomfortable but probably inevitable due to the width of the skis? Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Keep the spirit!

Hola Danny, what's the most important i wold say is to have a rigid system on a lateral basis. that means: tight boots, high backs not completely opened to the back, large heel raisers and then the fact of really dragging your edge in the snow helps instead of lifting your foot but this is less impactful. have a good one!

Hi Xavier, I love what you're doing on this channel ;) Would you tell me what you think about my splitboarding tuto regarding "how to set up your splitboard bindings?" cheers!

hi Xavier thanks for all the splitboard tips. All the videos are great, I learned a lot, but I would like one piece of advice, I lost the binding screws while snowboarding and splitboarding, do you have any good advice for me? Thank you, may you continue to do well

Hey Xavier, thank you so much for your awesome Splitboarding Videos. When going up and terrain gets icy and steeper my bottom splitboard-ski is sliding away much earlier compared to my mates on normal skis. Do you have any tips for that problem or is that normal and I just need to put on my crampons earlier? Looking forward for new videos ✌️

Hey Calvin, thanks for your question, I have actually done a whole episode about this for next winter! All about free riding with skiers and some of the things that your mates on skis can do to help, and what you can do - like you say, getting your knives on your splitboard can really help. Asking your mates to do less steep zig zags. Or often it is a case of boot packing much earlier they might continue on their skins a bit longer and you just bootpack. Hope that gives some ideas and look out for my episode which will hopefully explain it better. Thanks Xv

Could you share your crampon/boot combinations you use to get up icy approaches? I've always had trouble frontpointing in icy conditions in my boots, despite using a really stiff and tight snowboarding boot. It would be nice to feel more secure on the way up.

@HOWTOXV
@HOWTOXV 6 лет назад

what kind of bindings are those? do the knives come with?
@HOWTOXV
@HOWTOXV 2 года назад
Hey - the knives don't come with them, you can buy them separately, they are the Rossignol www.rossignol.com/fr/rgi0060-0000tu.html And the knives come in different widths - so you just have to get the rights ones for your board, these are the 130mm ones: www.rossignol.com/fr/rossignol-snowboard/rossignol-snowboard-boards-equipment/rossignol-snowboard-boards-equipment-bindings.html
