I don't know why, but I just really love these videos. I find myself watching one every day. I'm an engineer by trade but when I was growing up I painted a lot of cars. So I guess maybe I'm returning to my roots? Excuse my grammar, this is done through voice recognition. And I don't have time to fix it.

I totally agree with you on the settings on the iawat on the clear ... I've always brought the patern in for the color .. but whatever works ..works ..... I totally agree with you in the rp 4000 ...it's a hunk of shit for spraying topcoat. .. but I have had good results with the base coat

Repost of a question I asked on an older video: Have you ever had this gun(Iwata LPH400) shoot heavy on the ends of the fan pattern? I did a silver paint job a while back, and the fan was so uneven it left me with stripes. I tried choking it in to save the job, but failed and ended up redoing the whole thing with a different gun. Settings were: 25psi at the gun regulator, 3 turns out material, full open fan. silver cap. Since then I haven't used it for anything but clear.

I have a sata 4000 and w400 I don't even use the sata any more like you said peel I I have played with every setting I have a 1.3 tip and it slams on the paint but I love the w400 I have 2 of them so much less painful and both cost less then the sata thanks

I have a sata 3000 minijet and it also consumes paint. They very thirsty guns. Moved to Iwata now

try the Iwata lv-400 supernova it has 3 interchangeable air caps and 3 needle/nozzle sizes 1.3mm, 1.4mm, and 1.5mm

My SATA is the reason I bought my Iwata. I could never get it to spray the way I like to. Demoted it to a base coat gun and I don't like it much for that either....

DW Red I have never been able to get it to lay clear slick without piling it on. It's not a great base gun either... but it's a 3000 HVLP digital, lol. I love the Iwata LPH 400 and I want to demo a Tekna ProLite to replace the Sata.

See if you can demo an Iwata. I don't like wasting materials and the LPH400 is a miser. It is not everyone's favorite though. It's a slower going gun. Got to get like 3-4 inches from panel to speed it up for me

As always great work Gunman, Do you ever or have you ever felt the need to use a silicon or fish eye remover in your paint? I Once went through a period a few years back where i had to use it as every job was a problem could not trace it back to anything, But a guy once told me that when you start using the additive you have to keep using it. It would be cool for you to make a video on this topic maybe the next time an apprentice has problems of this kind ie from poor prep work or so, And give your opinion and thoughts on weather to use an additive or not. Hi Gunman, just thought I'd make a suggestion thats linked to your comments on air density. Would I be correct in thinking a viscosity cup will give an ideal reference for paint mixes? Perhaps a video showing a gun on fixed settings and varying the viscosity and its affect on the pattern and peal... This may help some of us viewers to get the mix right with better consistency.

ANOTHER TIMELY RU-vid FIND FOR ME; I am curious as to whether you used the Bellaria with w-400-BA4-2 NEEDLE AND CAP or did you switch out to a 1.2 or1.3 mm needle&air cap; I just opened up my new AWATA w400 Bellaria,which came with w-400-BA4-2 needle& air cap; Can I use the gun the way it came with the current needle&air cap; or should I order an Iwata 1.2 needle&air cap??

Well normally u apply it before color and or mix in color . But it's wet bed technique for allowing the metallics to lay down properly. Many names like intercoat clear, color blender, mid coat, basecoat carrier or binder

Hey gunman great vid mate, i just have one question. I am going to be using some 2k clear, i do not have a booth or anything. i was just wondering using it outside with the appropriate mask be appropriate ? i know the isocyanates in 2k clear is nasty stuff.

johnbeer678 Any paint supply shop will point you in the right direction, I use Sundstrom but there are loads of brands that are just as good.

Nice to not use sealer but c'mon prime it closer to the color. Used way more paint than needed with undercoat being so light. Don't avoid sealer if you are just going to apply more base in place. Good job overall.

In a busy smash shop where we prime from 5-10 cars a day we cant be mixing all these different colored primers, light grey primer is the best you can get for sanding and universal ground. There is no need for wet on wet primer on this job. In this trade you must be adaptable and not just follow what a paint rep tells you, my way saved paint and as you say the finished product is good so I see no problem at all the way I did it, Thanks for watching.

Hello gunman. I have a gun just like this. Just got it shipped from Japan. I'm painting my car toyota cement grey 1h5/fa10 paint code. How many coats of base would you apply over the primed area before you base coat the rest of the car? or does it depend on colour of the base &/or primer colour ?

Yep it depends on the kind of colour and coverage you are getting, most colours I wouldn't even bother about using one if you get coverage after 3 coats anyway then theres no need to use one.

Hey man I work at a production shop were all I do is accent paint RVs. I have a sata 5000 RP but it always seems to mess up on me every other color. It's either heavy spot on the top or bottom, and I'm trying to venture off of Sata and try another company. What do you recommend Iwata wise. Also do you think the devilbiss tekna pro lite would be good a well? Thanks man

Would you recommend wet sand the base coat with 2000 fine grit or just running a tack cloth before applying the clear coat .

No, never sand the basecoat unless you need to remove an imperfection and spray more base over it.

Gunman between the Iwata WS400 bellaria 1.4 ($230) and the Devilbiss FLG5 1.4 ($160) which is the better overrall? Main factors im looking for are the ability to apply both paint/clear while wasting little material with a nice fan size and superior atomization while remaining cost effective
