Dude, this was absolutely awesome. You provided enough detail without making this video super long and boring. And all of the examples were perfect. Even the detail as far as using brake cleaner to start all over was VERY HELPFUL! Thank you!
when using rattle cans its best to hit the object with long continuous sprays rather than a bunch of little short sprays. When doing little quick sprays it tends to bead up the paint on the nozzle and you will get spatter more often than if you just hit a long continuous spray that you use to cover a larger area. Even using one long continuous spray to hit the entire object as a coat is better than small sprays that could lead to spatter. Just a tip u may wanna try brother
I used to use this stuff back in the day ... I was into lowriding and back then some of us couldn’t get our rims anodized or buy them anodized ... so I’d tape up the spikes and hit the outter lip and it would come out nice ... or I’d tape up the barrel and paint the spokes ... you can use it for a lot of cool stuff 👍🏻
I love it for color matching taillights and other lamps in the car. I did a set of side markers in green to match my car, and with amber bulbs they still shine amber light.
As a VW guy, I'm a big fan of metalcast. Hella colored taillights are 300$ or more ,and I wanted a green set to match my green car. Voila ,green metalcast and 2 coats of clear and they look like a million bucks. On another VW ,I changed the amber part of the lens to red so it is only 2 colors (white and red) for a more uniform look. Usually 2 coats does it ,and a couple coats of clear to match.
I love it! Finally someone who knows how to use this. Seen so many videos of people spraying this over whatever color the thing was before expecting a pretty candy color, being disappointed, and calling it a ripoff. I've used the blue and the orange metalcast.
I've been wanting to repaint my wheels for awhile now, They're currently black but I want to either do a bronze or a silver metallic look next. Thanks for the video!
i painted some chrome wheels with the blue duplicolor metalcast..came out looking great! only problem is i feel as though the paint is very THIN and chips very easily.. i hit it with some adhesion promotor before painting...
Lobo Entertainment That’s a good idea I had some right behind me i thought about using it but it’s mostly demonstration but I should have mentioned that. It’s definitely thin paint
Duplicolor does sell a "primer" with the metalcast lineup, its called the Ground Coat, but this rustoleum silver is pretty close to what that can does too
4drek I never looked at it like that. But it makes sense. At the end I did say that they make a silver made to go under the color coat though lol. But yea it’s basically a silver flake paint.
@@JamesDguy yeah I didnt have the volume up while watching (lunch break at work lol) but ive used both the ground coat and the rustoleum silver you used, the outcome is identical either way, i just found the ground coat to spray smoother
4drek Yea any silver would shoot better than this frozen can of rustoleumI was using. It was literally 12-14 degrees that night in the garage. Outside was colder lol
I know.its a year old... But if you follow the directions...most importantly is applying this over chrome or other shiny surfaces, then it works as advertised.. Anything else and you get the results shown here.. I shot some over a gloss bright white and got EXCELLENT results. .
Cool, a James D video! I was worried that with your move to Texas you'd be slowed down on production. Thanks for this video, I've viewed the paint at Pep Boys and wondered how it looked. Nice results here. And love the idea of the chalkboard paint! God bless you and your family, my friend.
Just want to ask 1thing! How to paint transparently? Like if i make a metal swirl pattern, and i wanted the swirl pattern painted but still be able to see the pattern for the "burst" effect, what would be the best method?
Isn't the Rustoleum an enamel paint? Are there any issues painting the metalcast over it since I think the metalcast is a lacquer? I'm thinking about using the metalcast stuff for model kits. It seems to have a relatively fine spray, so I think it'd work good on really small parts.
Ken Sendelofski Yea the Metal cast is no easy feat when doing a whole car I have done so many Rustoleum paint jobs and it’s amazing how they turn out for the last 11yrs never had a issue with Rustoleum or duplicolor the worst ones I have had when painting entire cars would be metal cast duplicolor and the krylon crap it never worked good for me.
I have a couple of CnC pieces that I want to paint anodized orange there already kinda shiny and nice would I need specifically a base coat for them, if you want I could email you pictures of the pieces and you could tell me? Thanks
Where do you buy that air filter at? It looks like a ssqv bov. It'd be hilarious to cut.a hole in it and slip it over my actual ssqv make it look cartoonishly large lol
sinformant This was one we had laying around bought years ago off eBay. It’s actually a decent filter. That would be funny though I would love to see what it looked like after. It does look like a blow off valve though
Cory Brown Has to be silver or the aluminum. I’m sure other colors might work but it might not come out as good. But primer then silver yes that would work.
