Just some advice I've painted many things from younger to now from wood to automotive, invest in a heat gun it will help you speed the process happy painting
I've been using a low-powered hair dryer for years to speed up the flash time in cooler temperatures slightly below 50F. It has worked very well without issue
Wow finally somebody doing a proper video on how to paint ABS plastic. I'm used to seeing the alcohol, primer, paint, clear. Lol now this is the proper way to do it, thank you so much, I'm doing the interior trim on my Mustang
Painting plastic is no problem at all as long as you use the adhesive promoter. Also it doesnt look like these mirrors have that heavy of a texture but could just be because it's hard to see in a video
Great vid man, will be doing this to a rear diffuser I got for my mustang in white as well...already got all the nessary hardware that you recommended...by the way your mirrors came out like factory. Beautiful truck. Love it great job 👍🏼🤙🏻
omg, before watching i subbed because i have the same freaking cans on my project.. i know how to paint but i have some after market fender flares on my jeep that are kicking my butt and just seeing what is out there
Great video. Very good info. Your anchor tattoo would be alot cooler if it were a Marine Corps Eagle Globe and Anchor Tattoo. So its ok I guess. Coulda done w/out the sniffles though. But. Thats what Id expect from a dag-on nasty Squid. Lock it up.
I’m gonna let y’all know it’s not a bad idea to do all those preps but I just painted mine without doing anything to the plastic and did some clear coats and it turned out perfect. Not much to it reaply
Can you do a video on how to do the wet sanding on gloss I always seem to screw up when doing that. And then I don't know if I'm supposed to use a polisher a compound or how all that works. Or maybe you even have a video that you can point me to already.
Professionals don’t put 2k on top of plastic because it cracks, they don’t put primer on to the adhesion promoter because the adhesion promoter pulls the paint into the plastic. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean it’s correct.
Wait as long as you can (at least a few days)! I've tried to re-install parts after 24 hours when the clear is dry to the touch and nicked it with the mounting hardware.

Very Nice work. I'm doing a set of aftermarket GMC Sierra Towing mirrors, two-tone white and black. Should I paint everything white first, then tape off the white after a few days of curing and then spray the black?
dude I am not making fun of you that was a good video but you should try some Sudafed before your next shoot that would really help the audio. I learned some stuff thanks
Bro very helpful video. I just need some more help please. Im trying to paint my car’s diffuser with the same textured plastic. I sanded it down first with 400 grit and sprayed adhesion promoter and base coat and then clear but that came out so horrible, so many lines and tons of scratches and textures were visible and super sticky. So I planned to do it all over again. I sanded the whole panel down to bare plastic with 80 grit (went wild on it) and smooth it out with I guess 320 and 600 but there are a lot of deep scratches due to 80 grit sanding or what not and some scratches were already there. What can I do to overcome this problem? Thanks man
best thing to get out those deeper scratches is to move up slowly in grit. start right sbove 80 at 120, then 180, 220, etc just move up slowly. 320 wont have enough grit to take out 80 grit scratches
@@rosbelvillarreal4641 absolutely. you wouldn't need to start with such a low grit sandpaper though on smooth plastic. start with 400, primer, sand primer with 600, them you can spray color
Scott B thank you! Been roughly 6 months on and they still looks brand new. Since getting the new wheels that stick out past the wheel wells I was afraid of rock chips but they have no damage at all!
