Math is one of the only unbiased and objectively true subjects that school has to offer. That should be enough to make it one of your favorite subjects! And in math, your either right or wrong. It's the universal language

If you don't spend enough time in math, your future will be hell. Math relates to the physical world and if want to see behind the curtain, learn some math.

Hello Mr.J So, my teacher just started a new lesson 'Perimeter and Area'. At first me and my friends thought this will be just a continuation of the topics we learned the previous years (I'm Right now in 7th grade) But when we looked into it a little bit further we found whole new topics like (Pi) and perimeter of parallelogram. So What are your tips on learning these concepts

If a square foot means a number times 1 square foot, would 9 square feet mean both 9x1 square feet and 3x3 square feet? Thanks
@SpaceCadet4Jesus
@SpaceCadet4Jesus 8 месяцев назад
A square foot means an area that is 12 inches left to right and 12 inches up to down. Picture a 2d box. 9 square feet means an area that is 9 feet left to right and 9 feet up to down. Picture a much larger box. In your question, your words are confusing square foot (a measurement) with a similar sounding mathematical symbol called squaring or squared. Nobody confuses themselves by saying 3 x 3 square feet or 9x1 square feet. If you want 3 square feet, you just say it. John, we need 3 square feet of tile in this bathroom. That automatically means you want 3ft side to side and 3ft up and down. Same with, if you want 9 square feet, you just say it. I need 9 square feet. What if somebody came up to you and said "I need 2+3+4 square feet of tiles." That's 9 square feet, right? No, that's an idiot you're dealing with, get a better employee who can talk straight. Hope this helps.

A square number is the product of two numbers multiplied by itself. A square number is not the number multiplied by itself to get the product
@SpaceCadet4Jesus
@SpaceCadet4Jesus 8 месяцев назад
How's this example? 3 squared = 3*3 = 9 (a square number) Whereas the reverse; 9 (a square number) = 3*3 = 3 squared.
