How to stack a full cord of firewood without using any end bracing. By crisscrossing the corners you can build a solid rectangle block of wood that will not fall over and save you space all while looking great! #firewood
Thanks for another enjoyable Video. Hard to believe I spent the day rushing around trying to Bust Rounds down to manageable size with my Huskee set vertical, Switch back to Horizontal, Split into Firewood while loading into my XL Gorilla mesh lawn Cart. Then using the lawn mower to move it to a Row of Pallets waiting to be filled. Stack............Repeat. Just to come inside and relax while watching your Videos and be reminded I am - Definitely a professional operation - LOL * Oh, I used this setup to take the neighbors behind me about 3/4 cord of wood on Wed. It feels good to help those in need. The 4 Dozen fresh eggs Tony's wife insisted I take was an unexpected benefit for my family. Looks like Rain her for the next week - a Break I likely need, but am not looking forward to. Have a great weekend!
Bark from white Birch is great stuff for starting fires, especially campfires where the burning “oil” in the bark doesn’t cause chimney build up problems. Not worth keeping to sell, but great for homeowner splitters. Thnx…
Hello Chris ! It would be nice to see you dump all this wood inside the trailer to show how you are right on your "level" when you throw a face cord in the truck, 2 face cords on the "metal level" in the trailer and the full 3 cords ! To see how the wood is taking more space when loose =)
Good afternoon Chris. Stop at a Husqvarna dealer to get a chain for my 450 & drop a 445 to get worked on. We got to talking and i told him about your channel and told him you had a 3120 with a 60" bar. He then pointed a a bar he had leaning in corner & told me it was a 72" bar. I think he said he used a 592 to use it. Thanks & keep on keeping on
I'm fortunate enough to have the "T" of my chimney indoors meaning, the chimney goes through my roof. This way, I can inspect and clean it, whenever I see fit. Also, I burn hot, at least once every 2 or 3 weeks. This way, I always end up with a handful of creosote at the bottom of the inspection cap, instead of a mess, caked inside my chimney. Gotta run to the stove store...I've been procrastinating, on changing some of the wood stove bricks for the whole summer. GNI.
If I use 2x4x8s for each face cord's base, do I need to stack them two high like you did with the stringers or connect them with the cross piece (like the stringer) -- effectively using four 2x4x8s per face cord? Or for each face cord, can I get away with just placing two 2x4x8s parallel to each other on the ground? Would two 4x4x8s be better or overkill? I guess I'm not sure how high off the ground the firewood needs to be or if airflow is needed with the 2x4s/stringers. Maybe these bases just need to be just high enough ensure there's no contact of the firewood with the ground, so the 1.5" of the 2x4 is enough clearance???
Bill Update He is doing good. He is back on a 30 day heart study. He also will be part if a new program that monitors everything from home by blue tooth. Blood Pressure, pulse, respirations, rhythm, actuvity, falls, rapid water weight gain, and other things. i am not up on the apple watch but this thing sound really helpful. Data is relayed real time. If he goes into A fib, the cardiologist is notified along with a nurse practioner. Immediate care will begin real time. No pencil whipping the numbers and calling in dsily with vitals if an olympic athlete. This will also help me with the continued care. I will know immediately and he will go for a little ride. Once again the Milwaukee VA has pulled another rabbit out if the hat. When i heard this i was hoing to do cartwheels in the back yard, but then i realized that gravity is not my friend so I did a Kenny Wahoooo.
@InTheWoodyard Bill gets depressed and then I take him to the VA. I say to him. look around. Do you see all of these people wearing vietnam swag. You look really good compared to some of your peers.
Good video Chris. So I know this video is to show ppl how to stack good, but my question is can you throw birch on pallets loose like your other species, or will it not dry as good? Birch requires a little more attention is why I'm asking.
Yes you can, I just used this because I thought it would look and be good for a demonstration. And I agree, birch is wood that HAS to stay off the ground or it will turn into pudding!
Was splitting white birch yesterday. And yes the bark is nasty stuff. The bark on this tree is 3/4” thick ! On the trunk. Was an old tree, but was in good shape. 21/22” diameter at the base. Could not count the rings to see how old. Hurricane Fiona blew it down last year. Sept 24/22. The root has almost came back down to the ground already. Have a great day.
G’morning Chris ! You are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for sharing ! Will you use different sized stones when sharpening the .325 top handle? Or just let ‘er go with the 7/32 ? GoodNightIrene
We have a lot of dying ash here in upstate ny, I’ve seen sawdust in my stacked wood in my garage which I stack 14 f/c in. I think the ash beetle doesn’t care green or not!
Good day Chris hope all is well. I well say this it’s nice to listen to someone that knows what they are talking about. I have analyzed through the video where I possibly can one up you on stacking firewood in all aspects found nothing. Except…..Oh No Chris as gone electric chainsaw user 😂Cheers my friend 👌🏻🔥🇨🇦
When I lived in Florida if you leaned a wooden ladder against the house or building. Come back in a month and try to use it the termites would have eaten the wooden legs off. If you don't have any termites in your area they must have retired and moved to Florida.
Would still be interested in seeing the N&N dump trailer stacked snuggly, to The top of the bottom side board. What a face cord looks like, What two face cords looks like. What a half cords looks like. A whole cord. And just how much a full trailer holds stacked And the net and gross weight of the full trailer. Would that go over your Toyotas tow capacity?
I find the easiest way to stack wood is watching someone else do it! What do you do with all the rotted pallets/lumber that is under the firewood when you take the wood off to sell?
good morning. math note: 48 x 2 is your 8 feet, but you only need another 8 inches on the 40" side for the 4 feet side. or you can go 2x 40 and add the 16" for 8 feet and the other side is set at 48" too early for thinking 😆
Get the wood OFF the ground and maybe put down a couple layers of plastic on pallets to prevent the bugs from getting up in it??? We do not have much bug problems here 4-5 months below zero in the winter will do that!
@@InTheWoodyard everything is on pallets, plus after a mild winter the bugs have been extra bad. Maybe this winter will be different and help things out.
