Me and my friends used to basically play geoguesser by using google maps to locate cameras we found through google dorks. The IP address will only get you so far, we'd have to look at the businesses that were nearby and the street layout and stuff and most of the time we could actually see the camera on google street view.

@Not Convinced its for educational purposes, and can actually be useful in some situations, for example if you want to background check someone without paying someone else to do it. You can also get paid for OSINT on people, because sometimes people want to test how private their lives are. Also it can be useful for private investigators to know some OSINT.

finally, a channel that is just professionally educating people instead of trying to push legislation to knee cap search engines or some crap. I have been interested in privacy for YEARS now, and this is genuinely the first time I have seen a video that is professionally made, well explained, AND not trying to push an agenda, just trying to educate. We need more content like this, content actually explaining things to people and educating them instead of just trying to legislate problems out of existence while keeping people in the dark on the actual nature of the problem in the first place.
@killabite620
@killabite620 2 года назад
if this is the first time youve seen an un-biased educational video on tech then youre looking in the wrong places
@robonator2945
@robonator2945 2 года назад
@@killabite620 no, not really. Even channels I like clearly biased, Naomi Brockwell for instance I think explains things excellently and is more or less factually correct, but she also does show her bias in a lot of places. I personally agree with that message behind that bias, but there have been a few times where she has said something or pushed something that had some factual inaccuracies, then defended them even though they were factual deficiencies. Of course, on the times where she was corrected on something PRO-privacy, such as the legal state of self-incrimination for biometrics not being set in stone, there was no challenge. You can tell in a few interviews as well but I cant remember those clearly enough to make an example. Now, for her case and a few others, even in spite of this bias I think what they say is more or less accurate, but it does mean whatever they say you really have to examine. A recent video from another privacy advocate whose name I can't quite remember was saying something disastrous about privacy in the title, but it was actually about private companies not being forced to uphold your right to freedom of speech, which is not only an entirely different topic, but he also self-contradicted in the video. See his video was about how bad this was that private companies wouldn't be held to the same restrictions as the government and this needed to be fixed (a sentiment which I disagree with but, hey, he hasn't presented his evidence yet) but towards the end of the video he said something along the lines of "if companies aren't restricted in what they do with my data, I won't let them have it" which, yes, just don't let them have it, how is this an issue? I'd call it fear mongering, but I genuinely think some privacy advocates are just too invested in the cause and end up losing the bigger picture. As I said before though, someone simply having bias isn't fatal, both of the people I referenced still get information right most of the time, they just tend to be dismissive towards alternate interpretations or facts. This CAN be dangerous, but by and large isn't a fatal flaw so long as you look at what they say skeptically. In contrast however, this video never appeared to take a clear stance on the issue, and just described it in detail. While this does mean some people might walk away wanting more legislation, it also means that those people came to that conclusion on their own, and many others might simply realize they need to take steps to protect their own online privacy. It's used as a derogatory now due to just how biased many news sources are, but the word bias itself isn't some damning thing, it just means that the information presented always has a tilt. So long as enough of the board is presented that you, as a viewer, can identify that tilt, it's not really fatal. A bit annoying, but not fatal. It's really only an issue for people who click on the video passively and don't really think much about the issue before taking a stance, because those people are far more vulnerable to whatever tilt may be present.

Now try to do the same with just a name of a person you don't know, and with a private facebook profile, good luck. Well, I already tried and found nothing that could help me, just friends in common, no job (although that person worked as a phone operator in 2018, they're most likely doing the same job nowadays) no emails, no phone numbers and no other socials. The nickname was used once and only on facebook, so it lead nowhere. Great video! What is your opinion on SEO poisoning or search-poisoning, where personal details are associated with wrong information to prevent identity theft? EEFIs (essential elements of friendly information) have long been used to suss out classified details from publicly available information, so the various intelligence agencies have been 'poisoning' public information for many years. I think this is a good method, along with some advanced identity methods, akin to credit-card chip authentication, to prevent the release of personal information. This gentleman manages to make two serious errors in a simple Google query resulting in poor results and low numbers. it's not: intitle: webcamxp 5 which reads as intitle: AND webcamxp AND 5 so Google will search for the keyword 'intitle' instead of the keyword IN the title. The query should be like: intitle:"webcamxp 5" No space after the colon, and webcamxp 5 as a phrase to make the space behave as a space instead of a Boolean conjunctor. Additionally, I'd advice to use Shodan for this type of queries.

Y’all should stop calling everything “the bare minimum” when it’s literally not. Respect is the bare minimum, actually going out of your way to comfort and have an open ear for someone isn’t. Doing something like this is truly very nice and a great thing of him to do. I hope shit gets better for you and I salute *sentinel Recover* for being mature when it’s needed!

There will come a time where man will come to realize the price paid for easy access to information was his sacred identity and the safety it had in being hidden from the world's eye. And when such time arrives, it will be too late. The threat of mass ransom is eminent.

This is obvious, you only found information that the victim willingly provided in public places, this is basically what a teenage stalking their crush does. What is really worrying is finding the private stuff, what websites someone visits, who they communicate often, private files 😦.

Just an FYI, all of the major social media sites strip EXIF data from photos and Facebook also strips IPTC information from photos that are available to the public. (though they DO retain all of that data)

OSINT is just a method of logical inference of digital information. It isn't always correct because most people present themselves differently on digital world. Old adage still goes " Never judge a (book)person by (it's)their (cover)online presence."

I didn't have to do all these. No I wasn't stalking, it was investigation. 😂 Without saying much about it, I had to locate an individual who had manipulated my fiance. I wouldn't have been so adamant but the guy was pushing substances on girls and I was going to end that. At least around here anyway. After doing some work, I was using my bike at night to hit the alley and hopefully catch this guy outside. This of course was after the cat was out of the bag that I now had their location. Upon arriving one day I did a walk around the building. Knowing my possessions were partially taken, I spotted my air conditioner hanging on the top floor. Later on when I run into the ex, I revealed that my air conditioner wasn't properly used. She freaked out bc she thought my intentions were to be nefarious with her but not at all. I told her what I had found out about who she was staying with. I really cared about what he could have done to her. I warned her that he probably has her on drugs that she doesn't know she's received. A super long story short, he took her to Kansas and I had to locate an additional address, 3 1/2 states away. I pulled 007 and got work at the building he had just quit in town b4 he got scared. It's easy, his employer had information on where to send his last check. Management was sloppy and they don't secure info. I didn't even need a password. Shortly that week, I was on my way to Kansas..do or die. 😂 Happy ending: Everyone's alive, dudes locked up for separate charge. My intuition was correct. The woman came back home, finally got married, and we both just had our first child. 6 months ago. If I had let it go, I'd never have any of this. I took a big risk, and it payed ten fold
