He's doing extra work- if you download the official app you can start the saw with the electric starter instead of using the cord. Also, if you get the optional 27" bar you can fold it up to fit in tight spaces.

You forgot to mention that the saw runs in reverse when you start it this way.

I have a love hate-relation with my chainsaws. Sometimes it requires quite a bit of swearing to get the thing to start and sometimes they are dirty, wet and full of resin but they start immediately. I tell you, these things are what I point at when young lads talk to me about troubles with their girlfriend. There is absolutely zero point trying to figure them out, they'll just do completely illogical things and drive you crazy

A lady used to ask me about what chainsaws have automatic start. I told her the electric saw is the only one that starts automatically, but they weren't very good back then. Battery saws have improved vastly in the last five years. I would confidently recommend a battery saw for homeowners who struggle with small engines. No electric saw can replace a real felling saw. We are at least ten years away from that being a possibility.

Cody you always get me with the tricks lol I’m usually good at telling if something is fake.

I know some of them you can’t do it, but my grandpa bought a steel that he could use because he was getting weaker as he got older. And let me tell you that was the smoothest cranking chainsaw I’ve ever seen. You could literally barely like jerk like small little pools and it would like build up something in there and crank it. It’s hard to explain unless you’ve seen it before but like say you give it a little porn don’t start instantly sometimes like within a half a second would start up after you’ve already let go. It was somehow take the fours from your pool and like put it into something to help crank it. But I’ve never seen a chainsaw that easy to crank. With that little force, and it was made to do it. It wasn’t just a normal one.

Game changer, only if Stihl has conquered the problem with their carburetors after they’ve been sitting a while..

Well I learned two things. I didn't know you could cut it off with your cellphone. Can you tell it to go cut a tree too?

Well Stihl does actually make an option on their smaller saws that has a rewind that helps people start the saw. You actually do just that. Pull it all the way up then let go. ALSO IMPORTANT: If you try to start the saw like a normal saw, you will wreck the special rewind and it will become a boat anchor until fixed.

That’s possible, because when you pull the string, it twists a piece of metal which passes by a magnet inducing, a current inside the spark plug, starting the ignition process to drive the chainsaw

It is weird that new chainsaws these days do have a micro computer in them. You have to prime start and then let sit idle for 5 minutes before first use. The computer calibrates… something. It’s interesting but seems maybe like something a mechanic can’t fix easily without a ton of hassle. I like my older stihls and ye old Echo

I heard if you replace the flux capacitor it’ll start even easier.

That gave me a good chuckle. Seriously though having a starter from a wound up spring powered by a ratcheting pull cord is a great invention.

Its because its a kinetic starter the impact of the pulling and fraction is what makes the tool start like that your just giving one really good hit to your starting assembly and it has to be well taken care of to do that nice saw but id take a look at your bar it might be a little dented

This will only work if the motor is warm from use, but once the saw is warm, you can just as easily start it by pulling the cord only 6 inches.

I instantly noticed that you didn’t adjust the choke or push the primer bulb, so I assumed you did that before you started filming. You had me for a second ti’ll I noticed the chain was not spinning, nicely done!

I actually had a very loose grip on the pull start and I Always pull the pull start chord all the way out 1st you know and then I let it back in slowly and then it usually every time it will pull start but this way you're showing us I did on accident Always pull the pull start chord all the way out 1st you know and then I let it back in slowly and then it usually every time it will pull start but this way you're showing us, I did on accident😮 And figured out the easy way how to start a saw without standing on a ladder or being in an awkward position it's very simple, very easy, and it is very easy up on a ladder, And/or Any uncomfortable position that involves a ladder or some sort of limb climbing from the ground just a few feet to achieve the maximum goal it helped out very easily and it really kind of got me a raise that was over looked, and way over due l. just by being able to pull start our [500i]off as I'm running up to the ladder to hand it to the boss man. So I guess it is not a fluke.🙂 and thank you for your messages/ "shorts" I really like the content and the execution of the content!. I wish I could get my 30+ year old Stihl wood boss to start that easy ! I bought an Atlas 18" chainsaw with 80V rechargeable battery at Harbor Freight to keep me sane and not having a heart attack trying to start my old Stihl ... I love that Atlas !

In theory any modern pull start engine can be started in a similar fashion but its good to know the you dont actually need the strength required to even lift a chainsaw to seriously injure yourself with it

Almost all of Stihls entire product line is designed to do this. I used to fix a lot of flooded motors and broken pull chords/mechanisms for overzealous homeowners who thought the machine sucked. Then you show them the 1 pull easy start on their machine and their faces would drop.
