Thanks to your guide and extreme luck I found hotspots 280 apart within 5 minutes of landing. Unluckily it's a extreme planet with firestorms, but hey, my wood cabins don't burn.
@@smarx3121 Quite a few. NMS has a limit on base complexity, but it's really rather large. In general, so as long as your system can load them, you can build them.
Just started playing NMS last weeknd. These type of guides are exactly what I need! Can't thank you enough for your efforts teaching newer players the basic mechanics and inner workings of this incredible game. Keep up the great work!
Hey, just wanted to thank you for this great tutorial. I followed it almost step-by-step to make an Activated Indium mine. I found an S-Class mining spot and a power source nearby, and am raking in money. I owe you a beer, my friend!!
I've been putting my power and supply lines underground so it's not a mess. Only do one wire to extend base to place equipment then do tunnel for power and supply runs.
Thats the problem I was running into, but after a small 3 minute idea, go to build menu select something (I used a wooden floor piece), go to build camera and drag it over till you cant go any further, place it, rinse and repeat.
When I draw the power line I build electricity polls. I usually do this in wood. I take 1 short wooden wall 2 thin wooden walls and then 2 wooden half arcs on the side pointing outwards. Then I put some lights on the sides that I can attach the cable to. That way I can easily follow the lines and you see them in the dark too :D
I've seen that on a few planets from people and those power line and power line towers look really awesome and immersive !!! Thanks for taking the extra step to make it that much more awesome to run across when exploring stuff!!
I found a planet with activated indium yesterday so I really needed this tutorial to build a farm. Thank you so much for this Jason! I'll be rich because of you now! :)
What class did you find? I found a B class and this is after 1he of looking...am tired and want to just use the B class. Especially since a C class electro mag is 350 units away. Thoughts anyone?
Did you know when you want to craft multiple items such as metal plating, you can use R1 (PlayStation) in your crafting section to craft higher amounts.
@@tardis4125 It happens to me as well and I am running the game on a really good pc. Sometimes there is a “layer” of terrain left, and sometimes the part of the terrain get reloaded as it’s previous self. I believe it happens especially more when in multiplayer. I am playing the game with 2 of my friends, and every time someone join the session and arrive at my base it would cause the terrain to glitch out.
Jason love your vids. When you select the the supply depot, if you read the top of the screen it says “Deploys stored power when grid demand is high.” So it might be worth connecting them to the power supply. 😀
Heads up about the blue crashed S hauler from about 1 month ago. On xbox some jerk built a metal box around it. You can stil get to it if u dig because he missed one spot so go get it while you can.
I stumbled on here by chance, and let me tell you; I'm glad I did. I love everything about video; the quality, your narration and explanation. You really made it easy to understand. This game is awesome, you're awesome. Thank you.
Thanks for the video man, wow you spent a couple of hours looking for the right hot spot. Man, the work you guys put into these videos. Thank you, this video definitely will make it easier for me too make a farm.
Deposits can be very close to each other. If you spend enough time roaming a planet, you can have your electromagnetic and another one with 400u of each other, and sometimes a third one within 4 or 500u as well. So with a single base at the center you have your power source and you can get two different metals at once. Just build storage and cabling to go to your base and with one teleportation you get both metals at once. So far, built bases for: - activated indium (because fun) - phosphorus - ammonia and oxygen - uranium - dioxide Next will be: - rusted metal - Gold (nanite farming) - Silver (nanite farming) What else would you recommend Jason?
@@francoisdubord4204 It's the whole name of the resource - 'nanite clusters'. 1 gold + 1 silver = 1 platinium. 30 or 50 platinium (I dont remember) = 1 nanite cluster. May not look very efficient but remember you get thousands of resources every hour, depending how many extractors you build.
I never considered a rusted metal for extraction as I generally don't mind mining for ferrite dust. However, each unit of rusted metal refines to 2 units of ferrite dust! Not needing/using oxygen is a great bonus.
There was a tip that flattening the ground with a floor, removing the floor, and placing the floor again, prevents this. It makes sense because Jason's other base didn't get "volcanoes".
Hey man, thank you for the video! Building mineral farms is fun and relaxing. Since watching this, I've built 4 bases mining Activated Indium and making over $17mil per hour, or $415mil per day. There were definitely some lessons learned with respect to base complexity and diminishing returns when adding more extractors. I'd share a picture with you of my latest base but I'm not sure how to do that lol. Anyway, thanks again!
Great tutorial really informative I like how you don’t cut the video when running to certain places and instead speed up the footage as this means I can follow exactly where you are going , great vid
Ive got a nice little Indium mine running on my system with 8 extractors and 10 storage, mines around 12000 an hour. Its a nice little earner and i unlocked loads of system to help with the stock market crash everytime i sell :)
Got the game a year or two ago and got bored not knowing what to do, got back on with my gf and your tutorials have been so helpful i might start playing it alot
You CAN place farming stuff on floors/platforms. The trick is to lay down electrical wire. Then place the Silos/Extractors on the wire. This also helps you line them up perfectly.
Thanks Jason! It's been really hard for me to find power sources, so I hope that's something they fix in the update. No shortage of mineral and gas sites, however. :/ But I've found harvesting oxygen on planets with no ready carbon sources has proven to be really useful.
It's nice to see people that had the same idea as I when its about building mineral farm bases. There is this one that i got a eletric so far away, that I actually made a huge over the hill wire connection. My next attempty will be build the extractor far and the silos close to the main base.
Thanks man, this helped alot! I REALLY needed to learn this but had trouble finding someone that actually described it good 👌 noticed you are playing on xbox so im following you and hope for more. 😁👌
Ami. n yeah it defiantly is. If you have the correct Hyderabad drive upgrade you can go to a blue star system and look for activated indium on the planet.
@@johnc6158 , I went into the anomaly, and used the warp in there.. you can travel to other star systems in there.. that's how I got the indium and cadium..
I'm new to the game (I started when the Beyond update released). The first blue star I went to I found an Activated Indium planet. The first place I landed I found an Electromagnetic hotspot. I circled around the hotspot and found a S rated Activated Indium hotspot about 400 u away. How lucky am I? Thanks Jason, your videos have helped this noob.
Yes that's the way just gotta search. When it comes to minerals, I have set up an activated indium on an s class and a b class, and I haven't noticed a difference. I'm thinking it's maybe size? Or having to do with how much power it will pump out.
Great video, thank you. Just one quick question though... I just started playing a few days ago, has there been an update where you don't actually have to go to site to collect?
Farm gold and silver to make plat, combine plat, gold, and silver in a large refiner and you get 400 nanites per 9999 platinum. Maybe not the best way to make nanites but still a decent passive method.
nice tutorial bro,, btw im kind of new to this game.. i know is not the right place to ask but now that i started the chat i have a question... what do u think is best to do first as a new player , to focus on story or on gear or are both needed to do at the same time to finish story?
Holy shit this guys charisma is off the charts. You could talk to me about a Roth IRA in russian and I would still be on cloud 9. Amazing video keep up the great work. "So I'll Split The Difference", this is how I think a all powerful being would talk, then again you are the all powerful being of No Man's Sky (says my google search results). If I didn't play this game I would probably still watch this.
Fantastic video Jason, as usual. I have a question, I started my Emeril farm base (small right now) with 4 miners and 7 supplies. I have it all powered and going strong. I was wanting to know if I need to take my Emeril to another system to sell? Currently my system has Emeril at -82.6% when I go to sell, is this bad?
An alternative is to sell to pilots that land. As far as I can tell buying/selling to pilots doesn't affect the trade prices at galactic trade terminals.
Need to add a correction here...I went back into the game to confirm it and it only seems to work for the power extractors and not the mineral or storage.
I came back to this video after watching it to say; later in the game, if you can get access to indium, farm it instead. It can be made into 2:4 Chromatic metal, and with chromatic metal can make 1:4 of Indium. It's much faster to farm, and Indium, per item, is worth substantially more than cadmium, emeril, and chromatic metal. Basically, I'm saying it's a more efficient process. If you're like me, you'll put your farm on your Frigate, once you get one. Hope this helps somebody.
thanks for the tips, but i think i will stick with solar array and battery method, although the efficiency is much lower, but it let me build all of my mining base in one place, rather than having to drag a wire out over long distance
thanks. was looking for this information. 2 minutes in I subscribed and favorited the video. Thanks man. Will catch up on your other videos later...after a nice no mans sky session lol
I haven’t played this game in so long! Glad that you’re making these videos, it’s making me want to start playing again lol. Thank you for the in-depth tutorials, very informative and helpful! Cheers.
Hi Jason. I used your video to make a Iridium farm but to reach further I placed a metal floor to attach the wire and extend it. One area, on a hill edge I placed a metal floor then a small metal wall to extend the wire without going to my base first.
In terms of your base location, it absolutely could have been 600 meters away. Base radius gets locked to ~325u by doing certain actions (teleporting being one of them) and unlocked to around 1000u by doing other things (namely hardsaving and reloading). Once your base radius is unlocked, you can also place a wooden wall every 30 units to extend your base beyond that limit. Each object placed has around 30u of radius. Just remember to unlock!
The supply depot also acts as a battery if you read the top description when you're looking at it it says it deploys stored power when needed. Also when looking at it you'll see kp going up. Also the terrain manipulator has a flatten, build, and restore mode. Build mode has different shapes and patterns. Good video though.
Found a S class Activated Indium today :) I put 6x Extractors on it and it give me 3670/hrs! Seriously those Supply Depot need to give more then 1000 storages, because if I want to log just once a day then I have to make like 80x Supply Depots if I want to maximize my profit! They should at least store 5000 each!
piece of advice, you can dig holes and put your wire connections in there, then restore the holes - you'll still be able to connect to them even after restoring the terrain, but all the wires will be hidden.
May be really slow with this but as of now mineral extractors dont need to be touching the ground, u can place them on top of a foundation and then u can stack them on top of each other. Like I said I'm very new to NMS but just trying to help
You can pretty much go for the mineral or gas you're looking for before you start looking for power - you can almost always find power but the type and class of mineral deposit is more important than power.. in my opinion. :)
Loving this video. After watching a differnt video first I actually messed up so right now im watching this and learning what iv done wrong and slowly fixing my mistake
Yesterday, i found a gold and silver depot and not to forget an Activated Indium depot. Ty cause didnt know activated stuff exist. I was rich but now im super rich.
Hey Jason, Tx a lot for the detailed explanation it helps really much, for beginners! You got a new Subscriber! Do you have a Twitch Channel or Livestream?
I need to play this again. I was trading and scanning systems for best trade offers for money before. Farming and crafting, along with how much they built on to base building looks really fun now.
Don't underestimate gas extraction. Gasses themselves are worthless, but high end gas products blueprints you can get from production facility riddles are worth several millions units. If you wanna just quick buck without hassle of crafting, search for Activated Indium on blue star systems - roughly 1mil units per 1000.
Thanks a tonb I found an S class Electromagnetic Field 368 Units away from an A class Copper deposite after only 2hours of searching! Time to go build!
This is the best way to make money 100% ... i have a farm producing over 200,000 Activated Indium every 2 hours .. Sells at 204m every 2 hours lol ... and i could double that if i put more Extractors/storage in ... but literally no need too
Jason: *runs into his base computer and gets hurt* Jason: "Did my computer just punch me in the face?!" The base computer: "OBJECTIVE COMPLETE. ACQUIRING NEW OBJECTIVE.....NEW OBJECTIVE ACQUIRED: COMMENCE THE UPRISING"
15:35 placing a wooden floor panel does not always work, use a pole with a pyramid on top and connected your wire on top, you could lay down 6 extractors and pipe them to your base with 6 storage silo's.
I know many of us are looking for nipnip buds. I've seen multible youtube videos, a few of them was on xbox but non of the portals they used lead to a nipnip farm. Jason, do you know how to get nipnip buds other than to hope the farmer will give you a few with your daily?
Then build a Portal next to your base computer, so you can transport in. Then extend your containers to your base computer, using long sections of pipe. I usually have 8 to 10 hours of storage. Then Portal in, and take the stored mineral/gas and portal out within a minute, to collect your mined material. I have over 10 mines/farms. Easy 35 million a day, 1/2 hour to collect then sale it. Make sure you change where you sale each time, so you get the best prices.
Thank u so much for this, I was wondering how other players have these giant ass farms, now I can make one for myself I actually got really lucky, next to my base is a A level power source and a Magnetized Ferrite supply right next to that, so everything is in close proximity
Bro thanks. I've just come back to the game after 2 years away :) this helped a lot. Can't wait to make people rich again, bring back the duping days!!! Haha
Curious about how you flatten out the area before you start putting down your extractors. When you're base building you noted that you can flatten out the terrain, but if you build your base on it it just 'grows' back and ends up inside your base. Does the terrain not come back when you flatten it out for mineral extractors?
Very good question. On Jason's other base, it hasn't gone "volcano". I'm guessing that if you flatten it with floors, remove the flooring, and place the floor/extractor, the game won't "bug out" and bring the terrain back.
I have a question. I found a C class gold deposit, and i placed a single mineral extractor. I powered it up from a power source, but on the far left under Deep-Level Mineral Deposit, it shows a red flashing Hermetic Seal symbol. I can not 'fix' this, and my Overall Storage is not increasing. Did I miss something, or am i not close enough to the deposit? Also, thank you for any responses, and awesome job Jason with all you do for the NMS community.
Just made my first activated indium farm thanks to this tutorial! One question though, is there a limit to how many extraction units/silos you can put down? Thanks for the video!!
Great video! I'm new to the game, about 15 hours in, and just found a planet with cadmium where I built a small base. Now I just need to grab some more salvage data and I'll be building my first farm.
You can place mining equipment and power nodes on platforms as i have done so. The problem i have is although ive linked my power to some of my mines ive only got 1 to actually start working. The other i have is over a 1000u away from the power but the electric wire goes red after a bit. Ive tried to extend the base using batteries but its not working still. Ive even tried loading the game in different spots as some suggest but it seems to be trial and error. Will finish watching this vid to see if theres any help but if not if you know of anything i would appreciate any tips or vids you can give me. Thanks and great vid.
Don't repeat this layout. You will need to collect the resources. Thus establish a base with a teleporter right close to a mineral deposit, and with extensions draw wires from generators. Optionally, a short range teleporters can be added to easy extend electrical plant in a future. Don't add 300m walk every time you need to empty depos.
Hey I know this is a old video but curious why does your terrain disappear when you place floors? Mine just goes into ground it dosent flatten out like that
So quick questions: How much can you mine out of each mining spot? How much of that can you carry in your Exosuit? And are you building a teleporter to make it easier to get back and forth?
Quick question... I like the tips in the video but I am curious... if I have a power spot 1400 U away from my mineral deposit... can you link the power with 2 base computers? I know you can extend the build limit to about 1000 U from the base computer... but if it is just outside that range for some reason... can I place a second base and still use the power from the first base? Obviously as long as you connect it all with wires... Just curious
To connect my power over longer distances I use either wooden walls and make a power pylon or use those cubes and stack them to make a big T looking structure :p the upside of using the cubes over the wooden walls is that they already have power snapping points to them to link them and connect it all further
I have a 4 electromagnetic towers all connected and attached to a battery. The wires turned red after a certain distance. I tried using a battery again but that didn’t fix the problem. My base is 600 units from the power source. How do I fix it?
It is definitely worth farming oxygen so that you can make pretty much infinite chlorine. It sells for a lot and only requires a medium refiner to mass produce it. I managed to find a large oxygen field near enough a electromagnetic power area and was able to make more money than I would ever need. Which you can then use to buy whatever other material you might need.
Very true! I thought I was the only one that seemed to know this because I don't see any RU-vidr's talking about it. I don't know how it works in the real world, but the chlorine seems to be on a runaway reaction. With an oxygen hotspot or just buying all the oxygen you can find, I have three medium refineries set up and you just keep adding the chlorine back into the pile when it's done. In less than 10 minutes of just standing there I have about 20 million worth of chlorine to dump into a system. Granted, it's not the most exciting 10 minutes, but I can't see anything making money faster than that, and with very minimal setup.
I like setting up on calm planets. I found a water planet with damn near perfect flat islands with jungle like trees on them. No storms 77.7 degrees plus and minus. This will be my home. I can set up bridges to the next island hehe. Gonna mess around with underwater base stuff also.
The underwater base sounds good. My first base is on a hot planet ... building in a cave and/or underwater cave, might be the way to turn it into a sweet home.
I was hoping you did a gas extraction farm but that is ok.... my question is when using the Analysis visor looking for gas to extract, once you find a gas hotspot, if the gas you found is not the one you want, how can you clear the analysis visor to look for a different hotspot? I must be missing something simple, ha ha.
Hello Jason, Thanks for the video. I found power, gas, and mining hot spots, I then built my power generators and tried to to bring power to the gas and mineral hot spots with no success, It seems that there is a 199 unit limit that I can get from the power hot spot with the power generators and only roughly about 50 units from the power generator to any possible gas or mining node in total about 249 units. So how do you get beyond these limits? Do you have to keep searching for power and gas nodes to be really close together inside of the 249 unit limit or is there some other trick that I'm missing?
You said to go to any system and while you can I've found it best to go to blue stars via the freighter (so you don't need the indium drive) and then try and find a planet with ACTIVATED Indium. The stuff sells for crazy amounts. Not only that but when refined it creates 4 stacks of Chromatic metal. So when you fill up your personal inventory with activate Indium that will net you hundreds of millions in one go, you can fill up your freighter and ship with chromatic metal and sell that too. While lesser in value, it allows you to make millions off of chromatic metal. This way you can make a few extra millions before you have to go to the next system (because you've crashed the economy in that system and will need to go to another to sell)
you don't need a battery to join wires, i use a light and once you have the wire where you want it you can delete the light and the wire remains there and connected
Two questions; since this is more than six months old, will those extractors still not require power and also, how do you find these farms once you lay them down if they are out of your bases initial reach? I ended up placing a marker because I was worried about losing my one I made near my base since it didnt show up on my scanner.
