I realized companies like Walmart have non profit organizartions to get grants and if you have a business this is a great way to get grants you don't have to pay back to support causes in your community or business.

In New York State, it is possible for a single individual to start a nonprofit. However, the application requires the incorporator to provide the names and addresses of at least three individuals who will constitute the initial board of directors. Additionally, in general, the nonprofit must have at least three members who all have full voting rights. New York abolished single-member nonprofits in July 2019. The nonprofit may have one member but that member cannot be an individual. That single member must be an entity that is itself controlled by at least three individuals.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! We took a look a New York State nonprofit statute and it does not appear that there are any regulations that say you can't use Spanish words to name your nonprofit. Here's a link to the statute: www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/NPC/301 Please reach out if you have more questions or checkout our New York Nonprofit guide: howtostartanllc.com/start-a-501c3-nonprofit/new-york-nonprofit Or, get help with forming and running your nonprofit when you create a nonprofit with Northwest for $29 (plus the NY state fee): go.truic.com/3PFCcjZ. of for churches - if i understand this correctly, they are considered congregations unless they incorporate, correct? can not buy property, once they incorporate they can. And they must be incorporated in the county the main church is located. Can a denomination (district office) incorporate itself and put all its local churches under that entity number, thou they all have their own ein. in other words, can the district office be incorporated by one name - with all these 5 local churches having the same name but different ein ?
There are ways a church can own property, even if it is not a corporation, like for example, through a trust. Yes; articles of Incorporation for a New York church are filed with the County Clerk where the church will be located. A group of associated churches with a main office can organize as one corporation, in which case there would be one EIN. Or the churches and the office can all separately organize as individual corporations, each with their own EIN. An EIN is an identifying number. It’s difficult to see the benefits of having “subordinate” organizations use the EIN of their “central” organization as well as their own EINs.
