Great talk. Been enjoying your videos. Business First. Photographer Second. This is where I started and am still learning: Created a Business Model (Focus Area(s)) Name, Logo, LLC, pricing strategy, customer relation management system (Honeybooks), money management system (Quickbooks). A good lawyer to write contracts and a good tax professional. Website (WordPress/HostGator - I can sell art, has a direct booking option, and can get paid through the website). Started a professional email account, and Social Media (Mainly points to Website). Finally, now I can work on photography and improving my skills.
Great video! Help to clarify things as well, I´ve just started my photography business, since I´m still looking for what could be my style and trying out a little bit of everything at the moment, I guess I made the write decision by going for a company name at first rather than my personnal name...can´t wait to see what´s coming next, keep posting !
That sounds like you are doing all of the right things :D I am going to edit the next video this evening and try and get it uploaded in the next few days.
I'm Starting as an independent photographer, I have always been an editor or work behind the screen because the situation forced me to. Because of the damn virus, I'm probably confident to say I'm broke. (might not have enough for rent next month) F So your videos are a really nice guide to know how to take proper actions to start working. YOU NEED MORE LIKES.
Yes, finally hahaha! Funny, I think I have started to get and idea on what my style will be, I seem to be leaning to hard lighting as well, particularly trying to use shadows as much as I can.
Thanks Scott, invaluable no nonsense information from you every time- very refreshing! Thank you I don’t do any food photography at all (and probably never will!) but the general ideas and thoughts can be used across many genres of Photography I’m mostly music and headshots...
Hey Scott, thank you for the great insights, I’ve been learning a lot. Before the lockdown, I’ve been aiming to become a contemporary portrait photographer, now I’m steering focus to food photography. What are your thoughts if I run only to those 2 genres?
