Sealed product over time is almost always a good investment. I wanted to do this with boxes too but did a collection of unopened packs instead. I think I have about 250 different packs right now. I started when the price of cards peaked to cure my urge to collect while I waited for prices to come down. Most all of the packs I have are junk era. 1985-1995, but they were all the packs I used to buy when I was a kid. Baseball, football, basketball, Marvel, Garbage Pail, etc. It's pretty cool to see them all. I'd like to find a way to nicely display them all together someday.
Some great insight there especially from the newer collector! That’s the problem so many people are stuck in the past, but people need to look at now. Great job!
Thanks for the video fellow waxer lol. Don’t forget complete sets I was buying 2020 NFL Donruss complete sets when nobody was and now it’s 5x same with 2019 MLB. Complete sets are good also. Don’t buy Pokémon u are correct on that. The shiner the cards the more people want them. Those sets are worth buying up. Oh and don’t be scared of flippers if u really want those products. I bought a bunch of 2020 select, mosaic, prizm for double the retail price now it’s 4x the retail price make deals flippers just want in and out.
Yesss I have a couple complete sets, always a lowkey snag for the retail price smart moves! Yea I dropped a bunch on select 2020 blasters at $65 now they 85 already so learning that also!
This is how I collect. I have about 60 unopened boxes on my shelf. I'm not going to lie, that B&N $25 per year membership sure pays off when you get 10% off every purchase.
Not buying Bowman was my mistake the first two years I got back into hobby. But since 2018 I bought a ton of it and between all sports boxes in my PC I now have over 400 sealed wax boxes between the main 3 sports and that doesn't include cellos or packs. Nice stash you have but yes I'd avoid anything but Prizm and Optic in football and basketball tbh. Baseball Topps Chrome and Bowman are king but I prefer Bowman.
Ok sweet ty for the advice thisnis hwya I’ve been focusing on investment wise lately, rare cards; Tom Brady/lebron James singles, and top tier retail or hobby product! Would love you to make videos on your collection!
I respect it thank you! I just think it’s everywhere in the stores, horrible pull rates and sets aren’t super rare like the original series where, but who knows ten years from now what’s gonna be hit
I’m a fortnite card collector and I’ve been collecting them since the first series of the cards. And series 3 is the biggest one yet and I’m glad whole bunch of people are getting into it. I just hope it doesn’t get to the point where everyone is buying them just to re sell them and people like me who have been collecting them for 3 years can’t get my hands on them.
A new subscriber here. I've always wanted to invest in sports cards but thought I couldn't because I live in South Korea. Recently, I found a hobby shop nearby that resembles a hobby store in the states. I want to collect sealed wax like you but not sure which sport has the most upside and where do you benchmark the price of sealed wax. It seems like Amazon is way overpriced. Any suggestion would be helpful and would love to see more videos like this one!
Only buy retail if you can! I get my stuff from target online drops, fanatics.com and in store Walmart or target or Barnes noble drops! I’ll be back to this Chanel eventually but follow my Geebzer asmr Chanel I do most my card stuff there
that walgreens hanger comes with several different types of packs so you should crack it cause it has not-so-great marketing but keeping the packs from inside sealed would go prettier in the sealed pack box and are marketed well
if you're looking to stock up on more, i'm letting my sealed wax collection go. i have optic, prizm, select and mosaic. i stay away from playoff, chronicles and the less value brands. lmk if interested
You got into it one year too late! Imagine if all that was 2020 football and 19-20 basketball boxes! Would have a gold mine! Ha But was a lot harder finding retail during the boom
Didn't show them the actual worst purchase you've made, that under no circumstances should anyone ever touch with a 10ft pole... yeah, I saw those "NFL Five" boxes!! You are incorrect about Magic and Pokemon though... they are different markets. Sports, your hoping a player in that product catches hype and you can move that product within that time period. Basically, you're trying to time the market on sports. MTG is more like your blue chip stock, it's going to go up 10% a year on average. Except for whatever the special set for this year may be, in which case WoTC (makes MTG) will dump jet fuel into the engine and it'll double in price off rip. Gotta get in early to capture that one though. Baseball can do really well and if you are going there, Bowman is really what you want. Anything Bowman except "Bowman Platinum". The problem with baseball is the way they selectively put different players RC's into series 1, or series 2, or update... so, the odds of those products ending up with nothing but players who crapped out after their first couple MLB games is much higher than a basketball release. Just some of my thoughts... though, for anyone looking to do this type thing as an investment, you should really know where you're going to off load these products when the time comes... ebay/paypal you're going to lose 15% in fees. And if you sell over $600 in a year, the tax man is coming... 20% haircut to the 85% you netted after fees... you aren't making bank unless you have volume. It can be really fun though. ✌
