For everyone struggling out their.. I followed Cathrins advice and now have 50,000 subscribers on my skincare channel... You will get there Love you since The Content Bug days x
this was a REALLY good video Cathrin. I've been doing RU-vid full time for over 3 years but vlogging is not my forte. The set up & thought that clearly went into this video has not gone unnoticed. Thank you.
This set up & thought is awesome! The things we notice after we become RU-vidrs ourselves… lol… congrats on being a full time RU-vidr for 3 years!! I’m going to check out your channel!
I used to over think my videos, starting and stopping so often. Then I decided to just have fun and I've been having such a good time and posting consistently because I took the pressure off myself! Doing something because you love it and bringing people along for the ride is the best feeling ever. And there's space for everyone to do it too!

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO! I love how you bring such an entertaining vlogging feel to your educational content. It makes your channel so binge worthy 😍
Oh god! Really! I spent the whole day today thinking and planning my vlog for tomorrow, kinda ‘a-day-in-life’ and your video comes out exactly right before 😁🤩 it’s a sign 😄😄 and it’s great!!!! Thank you 🙏🏻🌸🤗🥰💖
My fiancé and I are starting our vlog channel with our trip to Paris this weekend. I promise, your video came at the PERFECT TIME for me! Love your content, Cathrin 💕
The ring light is great for putting on make-up because it eliminates the shadows, but for video, you WANT some shadows to cast across your face. The best approach to lighting is to mimic the same conditions of the sun. BEST SOLUTION: Bounce a strong light off of a white wall so you don't have direct light hitting your face.
🌗yesssss ma’ammmm love this. How are you doing love? I want to say thanks so much all your information you share. I decided to start my channel a week ago and my youngest daughter/ caregiver is editing my vlogs that are to come. My first video was a introduction of me singing and from that point on it will be a preview of my life of who I am and what I deal with from day to day. I just took a leap of faith to start my channel to encourage and motivate others through my singing and how I deal with living with severe chronic pain, nerve damage, muscle spasms etc. being disabled and allowing others to see how I managed life. It’s gonna be raw and authentic. 🦋
I don't want to vlog, but I watched this because I pretty much have watched all of your videos (since 7K subscribers). I love how in this video you included a lot of actionable advice for people who want to vlog.
Thanks for the work here, Katherine! Not worrying about the niche is a good tip, I believe, especially when starting out ~ which I still am, despite having began some time ago now. I’m an Aussie (part Brit) living in Korea, and trying to go freelance, with more divergent ideas than almost anyone I know, so I guess I’m niched enough already. And I’m pretty sure others are more than they realise also: What’s normal for us can be pretty niched for others!
Cathrin, i did the chalenge and I am back with an update. So, you challenged us to change it up a bit for our next vlog, changing angles and stuff, then report back. My average duration INCREASED by almost 5 mins! It used to be about 8 mins, now its almost 14mins!! Thank you so much for the encouragement to change things up a bit.
How you make your vlogs and your sit down videos is the reason why I fell in love with your content. The amount of camera shooting you had to do just to make this video is insane. I've vlogged before and it can be super tough. Love these tips
You are always on point. I wonder how you can read our minds. If ever i have problems in making contents, i just go to your channel and always find answers. Love you so much! We really appreciate the effort you put in everything. You're a gem😍
WHAT!!! Sponsored by Best Buy?! I’m so proud of you. Been thinking of changing my content to more vlogs. I was worried vlogs would hurt my channel and then realized the majority of my new subs come from my vlog videos. The problem is I feel most of the views don’t do as well as sit down
I feel this exact way. I love doing vlog style but feel like no one will watch it because they don’t know so I’m like I gotta switch it up. It’s defiantly tough
LOVE THIS!!! so many out there are discouraging others from vlogging because "no one cares yet" and its so true in so many ways. but you also never know unless you try and you're giving people information to try for themselves so THANK YOU :)
WOW. This is SUCH a good video. Recently I have been wanting to start a RU-vid channel but I didn't know where to start and this helped sooo much. Your tips are so helpful. This video really inspired me to pick up my phone and start recording. THANK YOU SO MUCH!❤️
Changed my strategy just a few weeks ago and my new system is so much more rewarding! 2x a week uploads! And I’m generating content all the time. I’m really excited for the end of the year. I just feel something good coming!
Your video made me laugh. It took a silly turn suddenly. Good advice. I PUSHED RECORD TODAY!! So excited, confused and nervous. I'm noticing that people don't really understand the you tube thing to its entirity when I try to talk about it. So I can see where we can get secluded as an entrpreneur and a creator. Then again, this just feels so right. Sincerely, Me
Thanks for the tips! I just did my first vlog and you’re right. There’s no way I would’ve learnt all the mistakes I made in my vlog by trying to be too perfect. Because I filmed without watching these tips, I came up with tips of my own to try make my blogs better. You’re so helpful
Perfect timing! I uploaded my first work from home mom vlog this week and because I didn’t have an AWESOME advice video like this, I just watched tons of vlogs and incorporated elements I liked. Thank you!! 💕
I love vlogging but it’s difficult to grow with them but the memories you can look back at te awsome I actually look back at my vlogs when I miss a moment
Thank you so much for the help as always Cathrin. I couldn’t have made it this far without you! Alright I’m implementing these tips in my video this week and I will come back this Friday to share how it went and any new tips that arise in the moment!! Keep pushing guys!
Okay guys!! Super sorry this is so late, so I used the tips of facing better lighting for a better shot and not having a full detailed script but just a little outline of the day. It made editing easier when you adjusted the lighting in your shots. When you have a rough outline instead of a full on script, it makes the vlog sound much more natural and fluid compared to a script and more of your personality comes out from what I’ve seen! Overall loving this new format so far!
Your videos are truly so helpful! I work full time in mental health so I fit RU-vid into my spare time, and it’s been tough trying to learn how to make better content while trying to produce content. Your videos are to the point and specific so I learn a lot in a short period of time and that is so helpful when you’re already time limited. 🖤
even though you said to stop watching videos on how to vlog …. I’m here watching and appreciating EVERY TIP GIVEN. Starting a new vlog channel has been hard but you always give great tips for us, so thank you for this video❤️
Yeeees! More and more content about vlog channels! Thanks Cathrin for sharing your experience. The question for possible future video topic: how to actually promote vlog channels and why is it so difficult to grow in this vlog niche?
Taking the vlog challenge. Definitely felt like I needed this video. Just upgraded to a new camera and trying to take this to the next level. This will help. Thanks Catherine!
Great Tips! To anyone looking to start a vlog... Best Advice: Get out there and DO IT! Good Job Cathrin! as a side note, I've been doing it daily for a year and a half... you can't make every day exciting.... but you can still make a story out of it.
oh this was such a good + timely one :D don't think I'll create a separate vlog channel anytime soon but integrating vlog type content into my videos has breathed such fresh air into my content (and my approach to it) thanks again for all of your tips and insight!!
Can't wait to apply these tips. I started a vlog channel about 2 months ago and I'm loving the process. I've been in a little rut with what to film but I think this will get me back to filming. Thank you
The fact you can run through sentences while applying mascara... I make the absolute weirdest faces while applying mascara while concentrating on the application haha. Am I the only one? LOL In all seriousness - Cathrin bc of you and this channel, I started my channel over a year ago and have nothing be the greatest and most humbling learning experiences in creating content. Thank you for the amazing lessons and entertaining content.
Id never thought id see the day the moment u just got out of bed. Beauty in her purist form, u with no makeup. Im learning alot from your videos thank you
Haha this was awesome! I've been with you since your early days of around 20-30K subscribers so it's awesome to see you do so well! The biggest challenge I find is actually doing the editing. Like you mentioned there really is so much that goes into vlogging it is a great deal of commitment. Between working full time, studying, vlogging + finding time to edit it definitely does create a bit of strain sometimes! But I definitely love the memories. But since we're in lockdown in Australia still so it's we can't film any content 😓 But I remember someone saying that even 1 upload a week gives you 52 chances per year (52 weeks per year) to get your content going to build audiences. Thanks for these amazing refresher tips and good luck to everyone on their vlogging journey!
I just uploaded my first vlog and I re-watched it and realized so many mistakes that I thought I caught before uploading it.. I got so discouraged and stopped vlogging all together and then I ran into this video on my Home page and I decided, "eh, why not." After watching this through, I feel a bit more encouraged and even caught myself laughing when you mentioned "stop watching these kind of videos". Thank you for uploading this video, and I'm super thankful to have ran across this video! I feel a bit more inspired again to give vlogging another shot (kind of regret telling my husband that I quit vlogging and told him I don't want that camera I mentioned before >_>) so wish me luck and please stop by to say hi, I would really appreciate it!
Those are great ideas! The one that stood out for me was "talking about something from the last vlog". First time I hear that one. Will sure use it! Thanks
This is the first video I’ve watched on vlogging tips. Although I watch almost all of your main channel videos. I guess I’m doing something right because most of what you said it’s pretty much how I do it.
Amazing video! You're a great speaker and your videos are always so engaging 💕 i especially love the tip about getting people invested in our story. Thank you so much 🥰
Cathrin! Girl you’re in my head as you’re explaining what goes on to create a vlog!!! I’m still working on my skills but your vlog channel helps me so much! Weird thing is I outline my vlogs as I record bc I’ll forget what I was doing at work! 🤣🤣
