Thank you, I’m getting so discouraged with my vintage boutique. Looking into ways to get more attention, it’s been almost a year… trying me best not to give up!! VinTeaka Boutique. Keep inspiring!!
Thoroughly enjoyed your presentation, Alissa. I published a book when I was 64, created a website, purchased my URL, webhost fees,, etc. I'm adept at many of the subjects you spoke to in your video. That said, I'm a newbie at creating a virtual store to sell my vintage collection. A "niche" is impossible for me because my collection spans sixty years. I began my collection in my 20s, I'm now 77. I have items (thousands is an understatement) encompassing all ages. My mother was a magnificent seamstress. At a very young age she taught me about fine fabric and workmanship. Most of my garments are silk, linen, cashmere, fine wools, cotton, Rayon, blends and more. Everything I own is timeless and classic; many are one of a kind. Over many decades, I've kept excellent care of everything I own. Most I've never worn. Obviously for me, sourcing is not an issue. Because my garments are so beautiful, so unique and "truly" vintage I know they'll bring a diverse and wide audience. I'm leaning to connect with eBay to begin and then I'll go from there. I'm readying my collection now and very excited to share them with vintage lovers. Thank you for all your wisdom. Your posts have helped me a lot. Namaste
just started a vintage reselling shop called Hippie Thrifty Vintage and this has been so helpful, thank you so much! i will be watching more of your videos. you’re a blessing, thank you!
Alissa, you dropped some major tips in this video. #Following I've been wanting to sell some vintage pieces with an online boutique. You just gave me life with this simplistic video!
thank you so much, you're so sweet! right now between running End of June + my other job unfortunately I don't have much time left to make videos, but I definitely plan on returning to youtube and making a lot more videos on this topic soon!
Thank you so much for this video ❤️. I’m a college student and I want to start a Fresh Prince inspired online vintage clothing store. I’m gonna start sourcing items from thrift stores, kilo sales and online marketplaces. Then I will open a Shopify store and start branding and marketing.
I used to sell on ebay, mercurial, etc. years ago, I've come into a lot of vintage clothes & want to start selling. I found a really unique SAMSUNG phone sweater vest, blue with white rotary phone print! It's probably one of the coolest things I've found. I plan on starting an online shop asap, thank you for your tips!
Thank you for the tips! One recommendation for your shipping packages, is to use paper envelopes or recycled packaging, like Eco Enclose. Since we are making an effort to not support fast fashion and reduce apparel waste, we should also be conscious of how we are packaging vintage items and avoid using plastics that are even worse than the fast fashion epidemic itself. I hope you can relate to my viewpoint and make a conscious move forward to combat the ecological crisis. Thank you!
absolutely! I've been using Noissue (another brand with recycled packaging) for the past few months and actually just placed an order from Eco Enclose! thank you for bringing it up!
I have thousands of pieces of 1970's vintage clothing and don't have time to sell it all on etsy. Would you be interested in buying them at bulk prices or know another place that might be interested?
I’m selling harry styles phone cases on depop & ebay, I’m trying to find something harry related to sell which would be give me more profit but ahhh it’s so hard but I have ideas
can you do a how to video tutorial explaining how you use lightroom to edit and which features in lightroom are best for fashion edits please. There are so many features in it. Ive used it, but a tutorial example of some fashion edits and what tools you use would be so great. Thank you.. i thumbs upped and subscribed..
Happy June! Love these tips. I have a vintage store on Etsy with a little over 200 sales but lately things have slowed down so I’m thinking about posting my items on tiktok. I’m just wondering did you create a tiktok account for your business? Or did you just post on your regular tiktok?
I created a tiktok account for my business but you could definitely post on your regular tiktok as well, it just depends on the vibe you're going for! I post edited/styled/more "professional" looking videos on my tiktok (@endofjunevintage if you want to see!) but I also see a lot of people make casual, candid thrift haul videos or videos trying on their items on personal accounts, so you could do either!
Awesome advice! Im thinking about making an etsy shop and selling my art prints and vintage dresses. I will say though, there are some stores on etsy that sell vintage for cheap. Usually they are not cleaned and the garment is staged horribly in the photo but they can still be in good condition.
Hiiii I just want to say that this video was INCREDIBLY HELPFUL thank you so much 💜💜💜💜💜. I'm also a Harry Styles stan so I got obsessed with the concept around your shop
great question! I spent about $1000 before I officially launched but you could definitely do it for much less. about $500 was on clothes and $500 was on website costs, packaging supplies, etc. depending on what you want and/or how much stock you want to have before you launch, you easily could do it for $500 or even less
Great video! Learned a lot thanks! I definity subscribed so i dont miss any new video's! Are you going to do a video on cleaning and preparing the clothes for shipping? Would be great to see😁👍
Thank you for sharing the tips and advices! I have a question-how the return customer can use a discount coupon? Just tell you that he has one and you adjust the price? How many times the customer can use one coupon? If once then its hard to track if she used it or not. I used to sell on Etsy and the coupon system was very easy and automatic, but with Insta I scratch my head figuring this all out
Loved this video! It was so helpful!! :) My small biz is called Lelio!! I have my own products I design, but I am planning on having a "thrifted" part of my store too! Wish me luck :)
Hello. I have some questions. 1. Can you find thrift buys, add some patches or accessories to the clothing and then resell? 2. What are some more ways to put into your business so you don't have people coming after you like "this shirt made my skin rash up" and they try to hurt you and your business? I think the legal stuff scare me.
I just discovered this video and I have re watched at least 3 times. I feel like I've taken something new away each time. I am just beginning the process of putting my business plan together. When you initially started did you use personal capital to purchase your inventory or what form of funds were you able to start with?
Hi! I love your channel. I’ve been always very confused with the term “vintage”. How can I assure that something as vintage? Is only because I the brand is confirmed to be old? Is because the item is used? Could you please help me to understand? ❤️
great question! by definition, "vintage" means it's over 20 years old. when I'm thrifting I always look at the tags and can usually tell if it's vintage from the brand name + style (for example if the tag is embroidered instead of printed, or if the brand name is in a retro-looking font). then I usually do a quick google search of the brand to try to find out how old it is!
Thank you, Alissa, your video is exactly what I was looking for. It was all great advice, clear and thorough, you answered so many questions I had, and gave so many great tips. You're so sweet and kind to help others. :)
YESSSS, thank you, this video is so comprehensive. Would you be able to share the excel spreadsheet with the formula you have for pricing? Thank you so much, that would be super helpful!!!
Hey everyone Jordan from GA lover of all things thrift going on 8 years. Just started Chic Thrifts so excited about getting my website up and my launch. Your video has helped me so much to stay organized and up to speed on the best marketing methods. thank you 💙
