Hey guys! Quick update on this video as it seems people are still watching. I would not sign up for Starstock at this moment in time, they seem to have laid off most of their staff and things are pretty dead on the site.
the thing with card investing with basketball is that the player that scores more points is always worth more, defense barely matters, just look at rudy gobert cards, invest in cards with people who score more
Just to be clear guys this is just *my opinion* and how I *personally* would get started. You can make profit a million different ways and there's no one right answer on how to invest in the hobby. If you personally think buying raw then grading is the way to do it, feel free to leave a *respectful* comment stating so. This is not a video telling veterans how to do things, just hoping to help new people with literally only $100 to work with.
I stopped collecting cards back in 98, but trying to get back into it, I have some rookies cards like Jeter, Frank Thomas, Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, Bonds some cards more than one so where to start
Greetings mates, Most newbies usually undermine and neglect the importance of technical analysis with regards to trading. Technical analysis overly predicts the movement of assets prices regardless of what is happening in the wider or broader market. Essentially, the education involves studying the paths of a particular asset movement in this past so as to establish a sustainable pattern that can be used to predict future movement of an asset. Doing technical analysis can be quite different which is why most newbies / traders neglect day trading their stocks/ coins and stick to holding which is very dangerous as when the market goes bearish, advise any newbies / traders to buy the dip for traders who are still wondering to enter the market or old time traders who are holders to seek help from not just any trader but an established trading expert with at least 96% trade accuracy .I underwent series of trading loses l'd best not talk about before I was introduced to trading analyst Mr Elvis Hercules My contact with him has been the Pinnacle of this year for me, under his careful guide and his signal service I've been able to recover my losses and even grow my trading portfolio massively from 1.6 BTC to 7 BTC and also from 10k to 67k in stocks ,in just 5 weeks. I orientation of trading will advice traders and newbies to before they involve in it. Mr Elvis Hercules, makes you learn daily while you make profit with his signals. he can be contacted via mail! disagree re: insert cards...many of the inserts from the 90's and early 2000 sets are worth a lot of money...agree with everything else you talked about
I live in florida this is Saturday almost five I purchased today a book from someone it has almost 60 cards Patrick mahones 8 cards are in there and the jaguars baiters I am losed
you should do a 2024 update video like a 100$ and maybe a 500$ dollar video I got 1200 that I am going to the massive detroit show and kinda confused what I should go with.
Buying raw is more than fine... so long as you're 100% the card is in top condition and has a realistic chance of getting a 9/10 psa rating. However that's a long game. If you're just in it for the short-run then of course buying raw isn't the best

This is very helpful! Wish I saw this video first before I got into NBA cards this year. What would you recommend for those who have already started investing on boxes and box breaks? :)
If your trying to make the most money most efficiently I would not do breaks/ wax only because it’s a hit or miss and if you buy an expensive team or something there’s a chance you go negative into money
9s are very under valued. They should be a 3rd of the price of a 10. They are super undervalued right now and honestly if a collector your better off with 9s or even 8s in some cases. Some 9s easily could be cracked and resubmitted and come back a 10.
@@TRIKE415SportsCards yeah its already in order as off 3weeks ago...😉 try and return a card when it gets delivered to you snd ill buy u the box if they let u do it 😂😂
Rui Hachimura Level 4 Court Kings sold $130 as Raw then $180 as a PSA 10. His prices are dropping like a rock, going to try and sell his cards as a lot to prevent taking a loss.
Great Vid. Don’t forget to use Sports Center like the Stock Market . If a Player starts to get a lot of TV time or Mention, Buy Their Rookies. Also, Summer langue NBA and Preseason NFL. Watch the players that are shining and performing well. Just because they are a first round QB doesn’t mean they will play or start if they are 2nd to a existing QB. Receivers and Running Backs… this is always up for grabs and if your Scorching it and Productive in pre-season… your probably going to get a lot of Playing time. BUY the Rookies like he says here.
👆He's the real deal, late last year, I bought the 2020 Bowman Sterling Baseball Hobby 12-Box Case for $200 off eBay through him, I just made $4,750 from redeeming my card
Its actually ✌✌overwhelming when you barely know someone who does his work with sincerity and precision, thanks for the sales and delivery of my sportscards
Appreciate the thoughts and your insight. Starting to agree on raw... at least with EBay. Last few cards I bought raw and hoped to grade have no chance. They seem to always have a ding or something. Think I’m only going to buy raw in person. Anyone else have similar situations with eBay?
Been collecting off and on for 40 years. I only buy raw in person. I only buy psa 9s or 10s off eBay. I only buy hobby. Never retail. But that’s just me.
How can you get a top star player on a PSA 9 prizm for 100$? Everything PSA is expensive unless you go with higher pop like Optic or Hoops. Bam Adebayo is not a top player yet. He has potential but all we see is Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, Luka etc... I think for 100$ you can afford to gamble and make better money buying raws and flipping raws. Sure it’s risky but instead of getting 1 card you can get multiple raws and have a better chance of making money. Imagine getting 1 card and holding it for months for profits while the other cards go up? if you aren’t playing short term buy raw cards of a player you like and hold. Just make sure it’s in an amazing condition or just go on Starstock and forget eBay. A lot of RU-vidrs bought raws off eBay and got a PSA 9 and 10. Also with 100$ you can’t get into the vintage NBA game buying PSA graded
Bam Adebayo Prizm PSA 9 is around $65 on Ebay right now. If you have less than $100, you cannot afford to really invest in the Jordan and Lebron's of the world. You can certainly make money with raw cards, but with the risks involved that's not personally how I would get started on a small budget.
Great vid Troy! Btw, Gilas fan here. Just a question, what is your opinion on buying GUs and Auto cards? Are they a good investment? Or should I stick to the grades ones? Thanks!
hey mate, what do you think about the other base "variation" for Ronaldo in 2016 Prizm Euro. Like the flash and blue red white, price are cheaper than the silver prizm.
Glad you enjoyed! I think you're referring to the guys I said I'd be "taking a look at." I'd still buy Bam Adebayo and Cody Bellinger, but don't think I'd be buying Sancho
I wish I saw your video in early time, im on my 8 breaks right now, a bunch of hanger packs, and your right, i havent got a hit, I will defenitely be more smarter. Thanks
great stuff, but the best thing to do, is buy winners who won a championship...... so many fools buy trout who has done nothing and havent seen the post season since alds 2015..... the best buy is mookie betts.... 2x champ.... 2018 mvp and only 29.......
Raw cards are the best investment actually. If you look at cards 96 and below it cost $100 just to grade them. Raw cards are gems especially the jordan era. When these legends start passing away its gonna boom. Buy the 90s cards now. Kobe made that happen sadly…
P.s. dont buy these new stars nowadays. Buy the legends who actually did something unlike these rookies who gonna be injured in a few years. If u look at football for example. Only cards worth money are Quarterbacks.
Hi, curious your thoughts on buying 90's NBA rookies in PSA 9. Such as Grant Hill, Jason Kidd, Anfernee Hardaway, Kevin Garnet, Chris Weber etc. These were the big name rookies when I collected as a kid in the 90's. Thanks!
The reality is that cards outside of the ones you mentioned go up and down all the time and are very unstable. The sports card market is very volatile. If you can't afford the expensive cards that will definitely hold value, then you have to buy a player and flip them after a couple of months. You have to know know the windows of when to buy and when to sell. For example I bought some Naomi Osaka cards 2-3 months ago and now that she's won the Australian Open, her cards are up 2-3x. Unless you have a Topps Transcendent card of hers (/50 or lower), you have to sell because the other cards are mass printed wont retain value. Even if you want the card, its better to sell at the highs and buy back in the off season when prices return to normal or crash. Honestly sports cards are not the best alternative investment, l'd rather put $100 in bitcoin or another top 5 Crypto to be honest.
Your 1st piece of advice I think is wrong.... you can buy boxes, you just need to know what box. Modern, NO way... 1996 Space Jam or 2003 Lebron Rookie box set... those are gold! Many more buy cant give away my secrets. Same for packs, just need to know what packs. 1993 sealed nike pack... ya at $2k now. But again, if you have only $100, but best PSA 10 you can afford.
Inserts like Emergent, Freshmen Phenomes and The Rookies (lol) are not rookie cards under the official definition of a rookie card. Rookie cards are only the first year player cards in the base checklist.
@@johnnylv5452 Rookie cards are only the cards in the base set. patches/memorabilia, and autos are not officially rookie cards, regardless of whether or not it has the RC stamp. Google "Beckett Rookie Card Definition" for more information.
$100 wrong hobby for the most part if i was that strapped i would probably by wax boxes to establish a vintage base for cheap early hoops n donruss, but generally good advice i think like any investor I like to mix it up buy graded, raw, mostly rc but if ya research a 3rd year brady never hurt anyone, i think ya gotta get into it thinking long term unless you have a bankroll to start buying heavy out the gate
I'm new to Soccer cards so looking at Jadon Sancho, he has 2018 Topps Chrome and a Donruss Rated Rookie. Why did you suggest his Donruss Rated Rookie over the Topps Chrome? Isn't his Topps Chrome 2018 card a RC too, and would be viewed as a "higher end" card.
Reason #1 would be the rated rookie logo I generally prefer cards that have that designation on there Reason #2 would be the fact that he's in his England kit. He won't always be on Dortmund but he'll always be on England
