Another idea is to wear it over a polo or T shirt .. seems that is the latest trend and tones down the formality of the jacket .. makes it easier to wear

Good video, thanks. A couple more suggestions are: 1. Look at the structure of the jacket and consider an unlined and unstructured jacket to start with. These drape more and are less formal so a good way to start. 2. Don't wear a pocket square at first. Wear the jacket without one at the beginning while you and others get used to you stepping up the formality slightly. Then add a pocket square in a similar colour to the jacket so it's there but doesn't stand out. Finally when you are comfortable start playing with the colour, pattern and fold of the square to make it a more obvious part of you.

Great advice. I love watching men's fashion channels like yours's. I wish I had learned to dress up when I was much younger. I always thought sports jackets and blazers were cool. Nowadays, everyone walks around in public like they're lounging around the house.

This is very helpful to me, as I want to have the choice of wearing a sport coat for certain occasions and certain venues where wearing a sport coat can help me look a bit more sophisticated and sharp than my always wearing an outerwear jacket on a cool spring/summer day/night, and of course in the fall/winter. It’s nice to have more options and stand out a little bit without looking pretentious. 👍

I bought my sport coats at a Goodwill boutique store which is a high end thrift store. I have three which are from Nordstrom, one from J, Crew which is Moon Yorkshire tweed and a Harris Tweed. I wear wool slacks with them which are from Eddie Bauer factory village and paid fifteen dollars a pair for these two hundred dollar pants. I machine wash and dry these pants and they are some tough well made pants. Crease is gone but no shrinkage. So, my look is more casual but just what I want. I get comments all the time like today at the food bank. When I last bought a sport coat the store clerk said, "so you wear those." But, I am confident about wearing them. Seems our culture is in to throw on clothes. I don't feel better than others but just feel good wearing these clothes.

I love to pop up the collar of the sport coat, it is the ultimate way to dress down a sport coat.

Actually, very good advice! I line in a very casual society in a hot climate (Israel) and this would take more courage to do. But I'm gonna try.

Excellent motivational video, my main concern is about fitting. It is hard for me to find the right size out of the rack. Sometimes I buy 42R but they sleeves are too long, sometimes 44S IS a better fit for me. After spending a few dollars, you want to get your money worth. I think size changes depending on the brand. Dressing well but not overdressed make you feel great about yourself, people will also treat you better. Solid colors, such as blue navy, gray, black are definitely the way to go.

do you have any recommendations for brands? I been looking at some from Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren but not if its worth the price. I do have a vintage one i thrifted made by Burberry that is in a grey Donegal tweed that i love to wear.

If you like to go out in your PJ's and look like a bum , do it, just stay away from me...

Its a shame now you need to explain why wearing something sharp now looks overdressed. Just rock it daily and if they ask you about it, ask them why they look so sloppy. The nice thing is that you can buy them now at prices not much more than a glorified hoodie, and stock up with a few .. and more stores are carrying quite a lot of them again! Let's dress like men again guys!
