A video tutorial on how to open and start your vehicle that has a dead or broken remote key fob. If the remote key fob for your vehicle has a dead battery or is otherwise not working, you will need to use the valet key located in the bottom of your remote key fob. Once the valet key is removed, you will then use it to remove the cover and unlock the key hole on the vehicle's door.

What if, after you get in, the security doesn't beep and nothing comes on? Dead battery? Something to do with the transmitter?

This was really helpful. My Dad who has a 2006 Lincoln navigator lost his keys and does not have a spare.... I'm not a car person and neither is my Dad and we didn't know the steps on how to acquire another key..If I understand correctly can we call a locksmith with the car information and he csn make my Dad a replacement key so he can drive to truck or does he have to go to the dealership,? Also can you give me a ballpark figure on how much it may cost? I called a few local locksmith s and it seems like they were double talking me about the prices and procedures of getting another key. Thanks in advance for your answer... Also do you have any advice about this situation?
