I love it when you talk and when you talk with Martin. It’s more like we’re there with you and when you’re sick in bed, it makes your tiny world bigger. It’s like getting to hang out with the two of you while I learn some things and see you work your magic. And I’m sure I speak for most of us when I say, we love listening to you and never once have I thought oh she talks too much. Seriously just not so. And I want to tell you again that I am excited this is such a long episode. It’s perfect for a slow Sunday morning and to really learn things and see how you create them and how you fix mistakes. It’s The whole package with you and Martin and I thank you. Now I’m gonna watch you do your magic and I do know that I love the colors you did. I love red and my second favorite color is maroon. So I’ll shut up now and watch your video lol.

Stencils on steroids! Stamps, stencils, decoupage….I have learned to love them all from YOU! And I don’t have a big stash yet but as you have said, you can make it work with what you have. And it does. I have to say the use of acrylic paint pens has totally transformed my work….and where did I learn that from? YOU! No words to say thank you, just know I wait eagerly for my Sunday night date with you and the lovely Martyn. And when my current pens run out I’ll be getting Posca! 🥰😘😍🙌🏻

Hi Lel, Hi Marty, Lel, you looked and sounded much better. I hope that you are feeling better. Thank you for an awesome video. You are one of the best youtube furniture artist teachers. Not only did you teach us about stenciling, but you also gave a great crash course on blending... I am still struggling with it, but I will save this video for the next time I am blending. Staying in the same color family (or something like this) is a HUGE help. Thank you for this pointer. I also love all the pointers with stenciling. I will have to use baking soda to thicken the paint. I love this furniture piece. It came out really handsome and elegant. By the way, since you asked, I thought I would share. After your video, there was a video from Kacha about "how to stencil gold leaf" in which she used tacky glue spray on her stencils. Here's the link in case you are interested and you can judge the results for yourself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xNTQOci5VXU.html Marty, these videos are not only great for the awesome creative teamwork between the two of you, but also because of the fun, varied music you play at the end during glamour shots. I really enjoyed today's selection of music. Thank you. I wonder, when Lel works on a particular bit, do you have to stand still with the camera or are you able to place it on some sort of stand. I was just thinking how much your arms must hurt from holding the camera for such a long time. By the way, nota big deal, but here's a bit of feedback. I hope that you don't mind. The first 4 seconds of this video were a bit confusing because there was no sound and I had no idea what was going on. I thought that maybe my speaker didn't work. So, here's my suggestion. Add some music with this form of introduction and this way, we, the viewers, can sit back and enjoy it, instead of fiddling with our volume controls. Ha, ha. Congratulations on passing 5000 subscribers. Your channel is awesome! Thank you both for a fun and very educational video. Have a good week. Hugs, Eve

Love the cabinet. I tried the tacky spray for gold leaf and I got a smeary mess...no crisp edges and half the part I wanted got brushed away and the part that was supposed to erase...didn't. It was probably my technique but I'm sticking with the way I know to do it from now on.

Hope you've had tried that before and have some suggestions. you're work is stunning, thanks for making these videos.

@@MadebyMarley my legs get covered in paint, we are so alike lol. I wipe my stencils on my bare legs to get the damp paint off because I can't wait to flip it over and reuse 😂. I wish I could show you what I did to my laminate flooring when I was painting during the night... I need a new floor 😂. Never stop being you Lel, you're bloody amazing x

Hello from Southern Illinois, United States. I love your work. I just discovered your channel a few days ago and have just loved watching your videos. You are so amazingly creative and make such beautiful furniture. I wanted to share that I have in fact used the 3M Super 77 Multipurpose adhesive spray to do gold leaf with using stencils and works very well. No issues with it later coming off either. I also use it to hold ky stencils in place and it does not leave any residue on the piece when u remove it. The trick to that is to spray ot on the back of the stencil and let it sit for a minute and become tacky then it's good to go. Same for using it to gold leaf. Spray it on the stencil design let it become tacky and gold leaf it then let it sit for a few minutes and brush the excessive off as usual. Works like a charm for me. Thank you for the great tutorials you are doing. I'm learning so much especially about using alot of color and being more colorful in my designs. Much love from the U.S. Becky

Hey becky I so use tacky spray sometimes to hold a stencil on.... However you have seen me I just normally hold a stencil. I really appreciate you giving the brand you use for hold leaf that's very much appreciated and I'm off to purchase some right now. Thanks so much Lel x

@@MadebyMarley I forgot to add if you use it to gold leaf use it on the back of your stencil first to stick it down really well to your piece then make sure to cover the other parts of your piece with a cloth, towels, plastic, cardboard just whatever to cover the other areas so when u spray the design inside the stencil you dont get the spray on the other parts of your piece. I believe Kacha and Brushed by Brandy have both shown how to use it inside stencils to gold leaf. It does really give a nice clean design bc theres no seepage under the stencil as opposed to what can happen brushing it on. Give it a try. I really like the 3m spray. Works really well and doesnt leave residue on the piece you are doing. Have a wonderful week! Much love, Becky

I know what you mean about some lessons being too complicated. Such cute stencils! Your shoes!!! Adorable. The pens enhance the piece so well... I love how Martyn gets the surprise of something Lel suggests and then he laughs and laughs! "Don't panic Martyn!" Eye Twitch...too funny.! Lel, just beautiful! Congrats on 5K... Well, I hate you and I love you! I'm so envious of your talent, and I absolutely love the artistic pieces you share. How many times can I say, "WOW?" Something new and unique each and every week! How do you do it? Plus, you never miss a week sharing a video lesson. How industrious you are, and how organized. Your pieces are so well planned, and these Sunday morning creations are just one of many pieces you paint each week. Again, "WOW!" I went looking for the peacock stencil you used and found it, but it is not inexpensive to buy in the US. The overseas postage triples the cost ~ sigh... I just completed a smallish chest using peacock stencils, transfers, and stamps, but the stencil you used is what I want to own. Also, just saying, I HATE cleaning my stencils. It takes forever to scrape off the paint even if I do it relatively soon. If the paint dries it sticks and needs tons of scrubbing. Had to complain... The golden interior makes this small chest a treasure box. Just BEAUTIFUL! Also, want to ask about the super detailed piece to the side of you in this video. Do you have any photos of it so it can be fully viewed? I want to admire all you did to that piece. Many thanks for helping to encourage me each week. (((HUGS))) Love always, Sydni

@MadebyMarley Год назад
Oh sydni I also can't stand the cleaning of Stencils but I have a method. I kero a basin of warm water beside me each time I finish with one I pop it in the water. Till I have them all. I then put them in my paint sink over night and really soak them. Then I use a nail scrubber a soft bristled one and gently rub. It takes the paint of or at least most of it. I am naughty and often put them away thinking I will deal with this another day..... And that my good friend is a story for another day. Let's just say it involves marty ha ha ha

New subscriber! This stencil tutorial was exactly what I needed to see. Many years ago I stenciled a border on my walls but wouldn’t dare do it on furniture. You’ve opened many options to me now. Great tutorial. Absolutely gorgeous piece. I can’t wait to share this with my husband. He’s always suggesting I stencil a piece. I’m legally blind. Anything I do takes an enormous amount of energy. You’ve inspired me to try something on furniture I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing. Thank you.

This is so absolutely unbelievable. I wish I had that piece! I need that stencil! Jacob Zook is one of my favorite artists, he makes Pennsylvania Dutch art (or used to). Anyways, love the folk art look with the blended paint and in the stenciling. Then the gold doors inside! 😍 you are inspiring me so much, I can’t wait to try something like this! ♥️ thank you both for your beautiful job and thanks again for explaining how to do all this, what steps you’re looking forward to doing (helps me to understand your process, which will help me!), and just the techniques you’re doing, helping to take the intimidation factor out of it all. You’re one of the greats, please don’t stop making these videos! Appreciate you.

There's no video for that one. I'm currently filming a how to do the Indian look, as I sell a lot of these as commission only work. It's very long to do a RU-vid tutorial on these looks as they are complicated and time consuming. So that piece is a kind of display model in the how to paint Indian inspired furniture course. I will be putting images of it on my social medias soon. And the course will be on our website very soon.... 😁😁
