My challenge for myself this year was to learn how to make my own stencils and how to stencil on cookies using royal icing. This is my second attempt and I think it came out great! Using silkscreen stencils instead of plastic stencils has really aided in mastering this art form.
I'm using the Sweetest Tiers Sweet Stencil Holder and a homemade silkscreen stencil for these Mother's Day cookies. You can buy it on Etsy. It's pretty pricey, so shop around. However, it really works great to hold your stencil in place and I absolutely love that I can put my cookie outline under the plastic flap - it makes lining up your cookies with the stencil a breeze!
My royal icing was a 20 second consistency and I used a Thingamagenie to scrape the icing off
