In this editing tutorial, I cover the basics of stitching your Milky Way panorama images so you can get a level horizon. I make use of both Adobe Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC for this tutorial.

Thanks so much! You have a very good way of explaining things, concise and clear with no missing steps in your your method (very helpful for a beginner like me!)

Great explanation of using the wide adaptive filter. If one shoots the panorama in a vertical format using a nodal slider can one eliminate more of the distortion that is shown in your image ?

Yes it will help to reduce it. But not completely so still useful using the adaptive wide angle filter 👍

And did you use stacking for each picture or is it all in one shot?

All in one shot, no stacking

Why can't just use a ultra wide angle like 12mm that can capture everything and if MW turns out to be quite horizontal and if you prefer an arch, just use a warp tool and push the middle MW up and the extreme two outer edges down. That was how I do it and spend very little time

You could, but not everyone has an ultra wide angle. Also using a wide angle around 20-24mm for the pano will give you really nice Milky Way detail and foreground compression you won’t get shooting ultra wide
