Nicole, I made your meatloaf muffins. They are so delicious and easy to make. I topped mine with BBQ sauce and mushrooms. I hated meatloaf before I went vegan!! I will definitely make these again.
I’m a big fan! Wanted to add that my understanding is that tahini is from white sesame seeds (which have had their hulls removed) and sesame butter or sesame paste is from brown sesame seeds (which still have their hulls). I understand them to be two separate products with two separate names. I’ve also made both from scratch in my VitaMix and can attest to that being the case.
Yep that's right! But I've seen both labeled as tahini but it just said sesame seeds in the ingredients so it can be confusing lol I want to get a vitamix one day! Looks awesome 😊😊
Tbh I clicked when I saw those red courdoroy (omg I have no idea how to spell that) /velvet pants! They look fabulous on you Nikki! Kept watching for the wholesome content! Edit: omg I completely forgot about Worcestershire sauce!!!! My current go to pantry item is black seed (qizha, nigella sativa)! I put it in salads, very good with any cream cheese style spread or dip, also v good in guacamole, I also put it in my vegan chickpea omelette!
Great tips (as always)! I love the depth of flavor that miso provides and make the EASIEST dip by blending beans, miso paste and thinning with pickle juice. I don't waste the pickle juice and create an oil-free dip/spread for everything from raw veggies to potatoes or even salads!
@@NikkiVegan I like it best with chickpeas, but often just use whatever mix of pureed beans I have in the freezer. I make them in the IP weekly and puree to add to oatmeal, baked goods and other meals so they're always prepped and ready to go!
Learned so much form this video. Also so glad chickpea miso is on this list. It’s been one of the top game changers in how I cook. Can’t believe how versatile it is. I love it for a lighter gravy to top jackfruit sweet potato poutine
Yummm! Sweet potato poutine sounds insanely good! If love your recipe if you have it handy ☺️ I sometimes use miso to make sweet sauces too like in this video. Sooo good ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e-iOIGpj4SY.html
Hemp seeds! I add this to absolutely everything from savoury to sweet. I add hemp seeds to nut butters, pancake, muffin, and cake batter, to oatmeal and smoothies/smoothie bowls. I use it as topping for a lot of things - pancakes, salads, breakfast bowls, sauces, creamy soups, etc. They don’t affect/change the flavour and texture of any dish I add them to and it’s nice to know I’m getting a protein boost and additional healthy fats in my diet.
Nilkki...this is such a wonderful resource video. I am heading into more of a "serious" Vegan lifestyle. This will be a great place to come back to time and again. I know you put in a lot of time on your videos. You are greatly celebrated. 💋
I'm a new subscriber, and it's remarkable the effort you put into your videos. Makes the watch so much more enjoyable and satisfying. Super glad I found your amazing channel and personality! You deserve millions of subscribers!
Ok my heart could explode 🥰 Thank so much, that means a lot to me. I spend a ton of time editing and trying to make my videos as helpful as I possibly can so it feels amazing to hear you say that. Thanks for subscribing and taking the time to comment. I appreciate you ☀️💛
Your videos always make me hungry! I don't like to cook, but I'm wondering if I should spend a day cooking your recipes for the whole week..... Great work!
Tahini is something I have but I haven’t really used bc I’m scared too lol 😅 so thank you for the tips!!! I will try some of your recipes and I hope I like it 🤍
If you try it on oatmeal do a drizzle of tahini and a drizzle of maple syrup. Such a delicious combo and so silky! And if you use it to make a sauce, try the Creamy Tahini Sauce in this recipe nikkivegan.com/highly-adaptable-garden-veggie-chickpea-salad/ and put it on your favorite grain bowls or use it as a dip for potatoes. I’m obsessed 😋
I took a bar tending course... and my teacher would call it “where’s your sister sauce” 😆. I also have to use coconut aminos in place of soy sauce, or tamari... since I’m allergic to soy. Chickpea miso! Didn’t know that was a thing! Cool!!
Loved this video! You always have such great tips and creative recipe ideas. Thank you! Cannot wait for your recipe for the vegan salted toffee bites to be available, looks so delicious! 🤤
Great video Nicole but I don't use coconut oil due to the saturated fat being linked with heart disease in vegans. Otherwise the other products are pantry essentials that I would buy UK alternative brands of.
Do you have a link to the study? I havent heard it being specifically linked to heart disease in vegans. I dont use a lot of coconut oil but I do use it.
Hi Nicole, so excited to see you upload! Just want to let you know that the links for your kitchen favs are not working for me when I was trying to see what blender you are using.
I'm a diabetic with soy sensativity since I had chemo 7 yrs ago and I have to go low carb. thank you so very much for posting about the chickpea miso. I love my miso soup but with regular miso that soybean is suppose to be a no-no for me and I've missed it so much. Many thanks for the video!
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your health but I hope you're well now! Chickpea miso sounds like a great option for you and there is also brown rice miso as well which I believe is a little different tasting but it's been ages since I've had it so I'm not 100% sure what it tastes like. I hope you enjoy!
I’m so glad it was helpful! I have more info on this in my new cookbook: Vegan Party Planning: Easy Plant-Based Recipes and Exciting Dinner Party Themes (Beautiful Spreads, Easy Vegan Meals, Weekly Menu Ideas) a.co/d/bupmqvS hope you enjoy! 💖💖
I saw on another You Tubers channel (How To Make Dinner) that you can spread miso and your favorite butter on toast. It is so good! Edit: Obviously your tips are amazing too!
Oh yes! Nut butter is like a MUST have, you’re so right! And I’ve been realizing that it’s so much versatile than I thought. It’s great in savory dishes like my carrot soup or I made an African peanut stew a while back with red onions , ginger, tomatoes, soy sauce, and peanut butter...some more things too but wow it was bomb. And Deliciously Ella uses almond butter a lot in savory dips and spreads. So cool 🤓👩🏻🍳☺️💛
@@NikkiVegan yeah you have a great channel. Sorry to see you go from the vegan view, so I’m gonna catch up better from now on. Keep up the awesome work!
'Wu-stuh-shuur' is how it's pronounced. A very soft U and an almost non verbal R. The sauce is created in the city of Worcester in Worcestershire, and the sauce has the same pronunciation as the city it is from
Thank you for such an educational video! You always teach me something new 😊🎉 I know this is a kitchen essential you've mentioned before, but I always keep salsa on hand! 💃 Makes it so easy to add soo much flavor to sauces and bowls without having to chop up onions and peppers lol 😆
I’m so glad you liked that part Jenny! Thanks for letting me know ☺️ Most of the recipes are linked in the description box if you’d like to try them at home. Hope you enjoy! Happy Saturday 🌱☀️
Do you have a video for recommendations on kitchen utensils/mixing bowls or other things you would recommend while cooking and storing some of these things?
Thank you Nikki! I always feel so good about cooking after watching your videos. Could you share the article about cooking with sesame oil vs. using only as a finish? I’m interested bc I’ve run into it tasting too bitter before! Thank you 💕
Here you go 😊😊 Definitely just use lower heat or add it in at the end. Makes a big difference! www.bonappetit.com/story/whats-the-difference-between-regular-and-toasted-sesame-oil
Love these tips and so agree with all of those essentials! I also really love having onion powder on hand as a little goes a long way and it makes savory dishes have a different depth of flavor, too (I use it in my vegan gravy, vegan alfredo sauce, sprinkled on my tofu scramble or avo toast)!
I have had miso in my fridge for a while because i kept seeing it in recipes. I bought it and have only used it a couple times😂 now im going to try it in mac and cheese!
Nice! Hope you enjoy it in Mac and cheese! You don’t need a lot, only a tsp or so and you’ll want to reduce or omit the salt and then add as needed to taste since the miso is a bit salty too. You can also use miso to make a sweet sauce like in this video too! So good 😋 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e-iOIGpj4SY.html
Tahini has grown in its versatility for me with its use in baked goods and dressings. What put me off it at first was not knowing what a good tahini should taste like. PS definitely interested in your cooking class or newsletter if you have 🤗
Hey Crystal! Here's the link for my cooking class! It's on sale right now ioa.pxf.io/c/2607796/1015299/12764 Hope you enjoy the recipes! And I agree about tahini, I didn't know how to use it at first but now it's a staple for sure!
Hello Nikki!! :) You are so helpful!! I have a subscription to Thrive because of you. Thankful for the great info and insight of these items. I will be adding them to my pantry. I made you tater tot casserole this week but had a hard time finding the chickpea miso. Only found soy. I did make a trip to Trader's Joe for the other items. But no chickpea Miso. :( I ended up getting the soy but want to replace it. Can you tell me where you found it please? Thank you Nikki for all you do. I hope you are doing well and your family too. Talk to you soon. :) Big Hugs!!
Thanks for bringing that to my attention! Here's the chocolate cake recipe nikkivegan.com/vegan-triple-chocolate-cake/ The Vegan Earl Grey Loaf Cake ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iCTSDo_j1mk.html and the Salted toffee bites are included in my virtual class. Could you maybe explain more about miso’s and how to use them in a video? I’ve a dark miso, I think, somewhere in my fridge :D, but I never know how to use it, and you just saying, white miso, red miso, chickpea miso 🤷♀️ I’m lost in miso I think !
That was a fattoush salad from a restaurant but I’m working on a recipe to recreate it at home because it’s basically the best salad I’ve ever had! It had warm grilled eggplant shawarma, cold crunchy lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, onions, and a garlic tahini dressing. So lemony and garlicky and well seasoned. Loved it
Super random question but have you tried Liquid Gold tahini? 😅 Curious to know your thoughts! Worcestershire is sooo good, veggieburgers just aren't the same without them. I also really love smoked Danish salt, such a good flavor. X
I will never know how to pronounce "worcestershire"... there are so many unpronounced syllables LOL. Cannot comprehend. Anyway, this video is so helpful! Thank you :)
So this is a weird compliment but your lips look awesome 👌 I don't know if it's the lipstick you're wearing or if you got a little plumper going on but it's beautiful ❤
This stuff is great, thanks! 👍 But, but, but.... NEVER cook with roasted sesame oil! ☢️ It destroys the flavor and, because of the low smoke point, you can't cook root veggies before it goes bitter. 😵💫 If you're making fried rice, be like the Korean master chefs and it the very end to finish your dish. 😁
Coconut oil is full of saturated fat and not healthy. I am surprised you are promoting it. Great to see you promoting applesauce which is a much healthier option!
