Describing my experiences with runaway boats, and the method I personally developed to safely stop them. Nothing is easy about this situation, and it can put a lot of other boaters in harms way, so it's paramount to safely stop these dangerous vessels. Ive seen a bunch of these cases, while each one is different, the common issue is the efforts to stop them are usually drawn out and/or very sketchy. Hopefully people can learn from this, and implement if necessary..

Terrific video. It's reassuring that there are people like you out there solving the intractable problems we boaters insist on creating.

It just amazes me the number of people that DON'T wear the safety lanyard! Blows my mind!

Jesse, you have always been a great innovator. Keep up the fantastic work and keep making videos.

I think your channel would take off if you put more of the job in each video, 20-30 minutes each. I would subscribe. You might as well get paid twice for each job you do...

I could maybe throw some stories in while towing of things that come to mind, or in the slow zones on the way of what I’d expect, but the most interesting parts of a tow are the technical ends. It’s hard to remain focused on the job, and talk to the camera in front of a customer. I’m still adapting, and figuring out what this channel is. Id love to implement more 360 videos because it’s a true representation of a passenger, but it ruins TV viewing. I wish I could post more shorts, because that’s what drives subscribers, but it again ruins the TV or Wide screen views. Just trying to keep it 16x9 & to the point for now because it retains attention..

It’s sad it happens this often, not an official count, but I think I’ve seen it 7 times personally

isnt the lanyard required on small boats now?
@CaptainRetriever
@CaptainRetriever 6 месяцев назад
It is for boats under 26', but you'll probably never find anyone enforcing it.

No matter what you say or do, 90% of boaters will never clip that lanyard on them😂

What is your opinion on the Honda outboards?
@CaptainRetriever

The last sets we bought are pretty good, the only corrosion we’ve noticed so far was just below the impeller. The older sets corroded around the exhaust manifold by this time. Stay away from fly by wire, changes zincs religiosity, run salt away through them and I think they’ll be golden.

When towing a line that you want stuck in the runaway boat it looks like it would be better to go the opposite direction of the runaway boat.
@CaptainRetriever
@CaptainRetriever 11 месяцев назад
It would, but I had the camera on the starboard side, and didn’t feel like moving it. Starboard side I can more easily hold the tow line in my hand, and drive too..

As a welder, just throw some welding lead in the water. That lead will find something to get hung up on...

What percentage of bottom recoveries are insurance fraud? When a small plane is ditched in 100ft. of water due to supposed engine failure, the % of fraud is high.
@CaptainRetriever

I think insurance get out of paying a lot more due to negligence & depreciation to make up for it. If something smells fishy they’re not afraid to dig into it though.
