Use cold compress. You can also take 400mg of ibuprofen and 1000mg of acetaminophen together for insane pain. Also warm up mouthwash to room temp or slightly warm and rinse the tooth. This way the mouthwash won't trigger the sensitivity but it will clean and draw moisture out of the gums. Book a dentist appointment. Edit: If your toothache is so bad that you can only get relief by holding ice cold water in your mouth, it means you have gasses from bacteria stuck in the tooth. The warm causes expansion and pain. Combine the Advil and Tylenol and keep using the cold water. Mix in wouthwash or salt into cold water occasionally. It might seem like it wont go away... But it will if you keep at it. I'm sorry, but forget sleeping for the next 24 hours as you will only feel relief with water in your mouth. But give the meds time and keep soothing the tissue with the chilled mouthwash. Once the the gasses dissipate I recommend to cease the cold water and get yourself some clove oil. You can get it at a pharmacy. It's a natural anesthetic and it gets rid of that nagging residual irritation. And of course... book an appointment.

AND I can finally chew on my right side!

Im on day 11 of pain. Its been all levels of pain, tears, anger, giving up, staying strong, mental breakdown, emotional mess, throbbing, stinging, aching.....i had an extraction, 3 weeks of terrible dry socket..that never completely healed so here i am with a mysterious case of excruciating pain from this area. I wish this apon nobody, this is the worse, i somehow feel better reading others in same pain so i dont feel alone..but wishing we all get out fast from this nightmare experience.

In my 24 years of living I didn't experience the pain this intense. It so unbearable I get all lightheaded and sweaty feeling like passing out. It comes in very sharp waves for 3-5 minutes and goes away for around 20, which give me more happiness and relief than any possible life achivenment or a drug on the planet. It hits my neck, shoulder and the half of my spine like a needle so bad I want to punch walls. I really feel like climbing any mountain possible, after my pain finally goes away. All my past problems and general laziness, when in comes to dentists, seem so incomparably small to what I am going through now. I hope I will survive this night. I am writing this with a mouthful of salt water to make it easier for me. Brace, my man or a woman. You're not alone here.

Thank you very much! I am on day 2 of the 3-3-3 method and it works! I feel so much better. I had swollen gums on the left top of my mouth. I like many in the prior comments was in agony. It took longer than 30 mins or so on day 1, but I was able to finally sleep and just keep gradually feeling better!

This is the absolute worse pain I’ve ever experienced. My dentist told me I need a root canal but I really think there’s other options. If not I’ll definitely be going down to Mexico for the procedure. I’m not spending $2300.

A toothache can bring the strongest man or anyone to tears especially if it's touching a nerve. My 2nd time experiencing this horrific pain, I'm at a point when they can take all of them so I don't go through this again 🤣

Listen to me people : if you don't have medicine or anything else available for some reason, do this. Dissolve a hefty spoon of salt in very hot water. As hot as you can (while still being able to keep it in your mouth). Not boiling but not lukewarm. Needs to be hot . Swirl it in your mouth, syphon it through the teeth and affected area. And spit. And repeat. 2 to 3 times. Initially it well feel like it's making it worse but keep going. After you did it 3 times,hold the same glass with the very hot water inside to the side where it hurts. Press it firmly against your cheek, jawbone or wherever it is. (but not so firmly that it hurts).keep it there'd for 3 minutes +. Trust me, the pain will go away for a good 30 minutes to an hour. When it comes back, repeat. And after hours it will subside. Just make sure you catch it early when the pain is incoming but not yet at "I wanna bash my head through the wall" levels. Give it a try (if you feel like you have nothing to lose, try it). It works. I don't know why but it works

Yup, I too am sitting here with a pretty bad toothache on Christmas Day. I believe the tooth may be broken and I want it out. I took 2 Aleve (before finding this video). I'll have to run to Walgreens tomorrow and get some Advil and try the 3-3-3 method until I can get a dentist appointment. I also rinsed my mouth with Dr. Tichenor's. Now I have an ice pack on the side of my face where the pain is. It seems to be helping a little! Hopefully I can get a good night's sleep now. I hope everyone who's here for the same reason I am, gets permanent relief sooner rather than later!

I appreciate the advice in the video. I am 56 years old, no cavities and always took good care of my teeth. I developed a toothache for about a week. We ruled out abscess and cracked tooth with exam and x-ray. The 3-3-3 formula worked well for me. I had no idea gingivitis could be so painful. My dentist said I may have injured the gum by brushing. Anyhow on day 3 of the ibuprofen regimen the swelling and pain got much better. Thanks for the advice.

To everyone who’s experiencing extreme toothache right now, you can get through this! Buy some amoxicillin and ibuprofen and make sure to have regular intervals, it can help get rid of a tooth infection but it won’t completely stop it. I cried a few nights ago from the pain and I still am experiencing mild pain even after going to the dentist cause I may have a tooth infection in the pulp or something. Good luck and dont stop yourself from crying, its painful... very painful. Hope you will feel better bro 😭👊🏻

The pain hurts so bad I had to go to the er.. I havnt been in over 7 years I hate the doctors I get panic attacks but I had to go.. if you can’t make it into the dentist for whatever reason go to the er they will give you antibiotics and pain meds. I was finally able to sleep but now I only have 2 pain pills left and I can’t see the dentist untill end of august.. Try brushing your teeth as soon as it hurts and try swishing warm salt water and get orajel mouthwash and numbing cream… we got this 💪also if the pain is xterm don’t waste ur time with Tylenol stick with advil or best in my opinion is Ibuprofen

Sometimes I want all my teeth pulled and just have dentures. That's coming from someone who still has all their teeth, but more than a fair share of tooth pain.

I get really bad toothaches on my upper left back area and my lower right back tooth when I eat sweet food and when I drink really cold drinks or when I chew on ice. And the pain is there to stay, not temporary. Sometimes I use mouthwash to sooth the pain and it works but it only helps temporarily.

for anyone still reading this , 2am somewhere , if you don’t like taking pills like me , or don’t have any to take , you can put an ice pack right under your throat on the side of your face around the area where your feeling your toothache, and right over your cheeks right underneath your eyelid and around the outside of your jawline , when applying pressure this will give some kind of relief , and putting a piece of ice inside your jaw and letting it melt , right after will help you at least sleep, if you need to put a couple more pieces of ice in your mouth to melt that’s okay , this will numb the pain for a while and at least give some sort of relief trust me.

I tried mouth wash with Listerine, salt water, then I even took Tylenol 3, nothing works. They said to call 111 if it gets way too bad, which the pain has gone pretty bad but my mum said we won’t call them cuz apparently it has to be “extreme” 😓 my tooth obviously hurts rn and honestly idk what to do at this point for my tooth bc it always hurts 😭. Next month we’re gonna get a “full check up” and then my dentist said we’ll do the first stage of root canal 🦷. We will probs have to get it removed june 1st: this is the end of my tooth journey guys i got that tooth removed

Got my tooth pulled after 5 days of being in pain. Turns out my tooth was actually fractured and got infected. It was the worst pain I ever felt and after pulling it out i felt immediate relief 🙌🏼
