Izzo, with all due respect your wingchun will never work in the street. you are to tight to muscle bound, to slow .stick to your wrestling, and leave the wing chun to those who could truly do it.

I'm glad I keep on watching..I got into WC in 1986 up until now... And I was going to say... from my first day.. God 🙏 Bless Sifu Brian Edwards... Fayetteville NC.Fort Bragg..,82d Airborne.. and also because I was so amazed and scared 😳...I would always strick first... What if the guy faints or fakes... I'm gonna hit him as though he threw the punch anyway....If you're in WC you'll know or at least understand when I say that I'm gonna pak sau ( Not Playing but blast it ) your lead limb and strick you until Jesus comes.. People don't even talk about the true leg work and foot placement of a simple pak sau... But when done right 👍 the Gap will be bridged in such a way until your opponent trips out of your shen jam.. and suffers pain in a mighty BIG way.. Am I making sense??

@@paksau1 it’s 2022 and people still quote the ridiculous “it’s not the art, it’s the man or fighter”. This ridiculous quote was started by fake masters to fool their gullible students into believing they were at fault. When in reality, the Bullshido martial arts they were teaching were useless. The art is just as important as the fighter.

I was a wing chun practitioner long ago, and I thought I could beat any one with one or two hits, and that I was able to watch every punch thrown at me. Then I had a real fight and I landed a few punches, but I also received a couple od hits and I understood that most people under adrenaline rush are stronger than they look, so I had to improvise a headlock (I never had experience at grappling) and even when I won, I never wanted to fight again.

Appreciate your more realistic approach to how things can really happen. Soo many videos focus on techniques where the instructor knows exactly what's coming at them and at speed they can easily handle (and look good doing so). On the street you can anticipate the punch but it may not be thrown the way your partners in training have thrown them or it's a different punch. So I like the what you speak of here about attacking the mass. Thank you.

I'm glad you brought up the problem of only staying in one spot during combat. It's a problem many martial artists have, with the exception of boxers, who in my opinion have the best footwork for combat. I'm sure Traditional Martial Arts once had footwork similar to boxers in the past, but sadly it's the whole watering down of styles that has caused this problem. If you want to learn how to defend yourself, First Rule: Learn how to take a punch 👊

Wing chun effectiveness is illusory. It works alright against someone who is not fighting back effectively but does not work against western boxing. If it did, you would see wing chun players dominating boxing matches and MMA but you won't find many instances of a good wing chuner using his wing chun to defeat a good boxer.

This is a great video it highlights a key aspect of Wing chun which most people neglect which is simultaneously attacking and defending.. This is what gives Wing Chun and edge over even a boxer, I would love to see you explore this more. As an example a boxer will parry, then punch or dodge then punch but, in wing chun as you showed here it's block and punch in the same movement, all while moving forward...the same with evasive turning movements you turn and punch in the same movement... Most RU-vid Wing Chun fights always fail in using this concept ofcourse it's really hard to achieve too. You highlighted it here perfectly! Great video as always!

As a WC practitioner who has never been in a real fight but constantly bears it in mind I know the techniques will only help me when rolled into my natural instincts and reactions. If you are too robotic with the formulaic movements and ignore those you're gonna get clapped. Use the WC tools to increase your chances of survival and don't be fooled by the mantra of letting them come to you and think you can just keep defending cus it's so unlikely that'll work. Please don't take this as disrespect. But I'm going to ask if you can create a companion video showing a real jab. As a boxer - arm length and speed are crucial elements not being shown here. As well as the stutter fake ( Tyson Fury loves doing this, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s is almost imperceptible) Maybe if someone doesn't know how to fight they might leave their arm out there to trap, but a boxer will test the waters with a light jab and if you attempt to trap and it fails, they'll set up a stutter fake double jab and follow with a straight. IF that doesn't take the wing chun practitioner out, then the boxer will have lost due to closing the gap and being in close range for trapping, etc. As always infinite respect and you have another excellent video.

Honestly I don’t need to. Here’s the deal, we don’t wait. We have no clue if someone on the street is a boxer, wrestler or bar drunk. So, we JAM IN immediately. Not going to wait to see if you jab correctly or not. If it’s a fight, I’m going right in no matter what.

I just find all those open fingers a problem. I am either in claw or fist. Thank you and good video.

The reason you do want to wait until the fight starts, is because nearby in the shadows, there may be a police person, that will jump out and attempt to arrest you for starting the fight. This happened to me, as the guy was raising his hands I punched both his hands to his sides and pushed him away in two, fast and accurate, motions, because I chose such technique, they let me off due to my claim of self defence.
