For me, the best thing that happened to me to stop spending was that I got sick and couldn’t work. I only earned $600 for two weeks. I HAD to stop spending to make it through. It made me realise how little I really needed to buy to survive. And, I kept those no spend habits with me for a while.

I love that realization! I am trying to kick my spending right now and should challenge myself to something like that

I 100% agree with sticking to a list when going shopping. I’ve been doing it for years and it saved us lots of money and unnecessary purchases that would clutter our space. Great video Kyra ❤

Gosh your skin is perfect! Don’t be too hard on yourself with the sugar addiction, humans are wired to crave high calorie food. The food system is really working against us. I think of you try eat whole food all day and have one small treat at night that’s a good balance. I maintain my weight, want to lose a few kg like 3, but I feel like if I deprive myself too much I’ll binge one day!

First tip: Be so poor that you can’t afford anything. Ok, The end. 😂😂😂 Honestly I can’t relate because I don’t have the pleasure to even buy myself the things I need! I’m struggling with just the basic essentials but I absolutely love the points and advice you give in this honest video! More people should definitely be aware and talking about this ❤🎉

I can relate and with both the shopping and sugar addiction. I'm currently trying to quit both. Because I want to save some money and I need to do it. Because I don't have a lot of money to waste. The hardest thing is the cravings with both. If only I could crave saving 😂. Anyway I have always budgeted for bills and necessities but not my spending money. So now I'm going to give myself a spending limit that I have to stick to. Good luck with kicking your addictions!

Making a grocery list is something I have started to do in the last 3 years, I'm still doing that to this day.

One of the things that helped me stop buying clothes I no longer need was to stop watching clothing hauls and unfollow influencers that did them. I was addicted to them and bought so much clothes!! It kind of sucked at the time because I really liked watching a lot of those influencers. But almost 2 years later of me unfollowing their channels and they don't even pop up on my feed. I don't miss them and my bank account thanks me for it 😂

Me too. Shein and skincare/hygiene products were my weakness.

This advice is easy for me. I don't have spending $ to spend! I do believe if you need to spend a little extra for healthy food it's ok. Because nutrients and water sustain life. I literally saw a loaf of bread for over $7.00! Bakery fresh, but still. I hope you will include more grocery hauls, grocery products and maybe cooking in future videos. Great video today. 🌱

The way that I do my decluttering is: put the things in a box or tote and put them in a closet or the spare bedroom. If I do not go back and get the item before 6 month is up, then I will get rid if it. Some things I do just give up the item at the start.

Hi Kyra, I can relate so much to always buying things to make my house feel perfect but after recently getting my kitten (along with his bed, food bowls and other things) I feel like now my home feels perfect and that urge to buy things has decreased a lot. I think just having him around brought that cozy/homey feeling I was looking for. I’m wondering if you felt this way after getting Milo? Love your videos! ❤

I am vegan and stopped buying beyond meat because of the ingredients and how processed that type of food is and switched over to more whole foods and my grocery bill has gone down so much. Also, grocery pick up or store pick up in general if I’m not in the store I can’t wonder down aisles and find stuff I don’t need. This is most helpful for target trips.

I think its a cultural thing. I'm Hispanic and I didn't move out until I was 32. I know a lot of people who either still live with their families or moved out when they were in their 30s and it wasn't seen as weird or odd. I live in California, so its understandable that we stay home as long as possible

Loved this! Maybe you could do a vlog when you go grocery shopping. Or a vlog declutter would be awesome. Just seeing your mindset as you declutter would be great!

Just came across your channel. I started on my minimalism journey back in 2019. I took time decluttering and can't say that I regret letting anything go because I didn't rush through it.

An easy way I like to keep things manageable at the grocery store besides making a list, is, if wanting something “extra” at the store is to buy fresh food or healthy options from the store’s hot bar on the nights I don’t feel like cooking or can’t. From prepared fruit to chicken strips, I find this option useful for on the days/weeks that meal preparing just isn’t in the cards. While some things may have or be plastic, most hot bar foods I find are fresh/healthier than the typical frozen meals in the freezer sections, so they work as an alternative. Another way to consider groceries is buying store brand over name brand. Unless you’re diehard committed to it, you can usually save a lot of resources buying the simpler or more generic version of a food, medicine, or drink item. Keep it mind though that it may or may not work for everyone, and I have sensory issues with food as an autistic person, so prepared foods do help me with saving time and food waste. But at least personally, I’ve found fresh things from a hot bar or deli help encourage healthier eating because I’m buying fresh food made by the store’s bakery, deli, or fruit stands instead of relying on frozen TV dinners. However, no judgment on TV dinners, some of them can be really tasty, too. But for me, at least, buying from the hot bar greatly simplifies meal planning or prep, and things like shredded cheese, ready to go vegetables, cooked chicken, sliced fruit, etc. make the cost worth it on saving time to prepare it because I have sensory issues cooking. Even if something isn’t always organic, I feel better at least eating something healthy, even if it’s prepared, then going without, or buying the name brand because I think it will be better out of bias from the possibly tasty store brand. Those are just my humble suggestions though, for making a grocery trip easier. Do what works for you!

🏃‍♀️‍➡️off to delete my card on Amazon. I have previously done this on almost all places I shop but not for Amazon because I have subscribe and save. But honestly, I can just reorder manually when I need to.
