First I quit smoking weed, and only ate weed to get high. Then I quit that too, and it was a great decision.
Quitting weed in a time that it’s becoming more accepted and respected might make you feel a little unsure at first, but there are some very solid reasons to end your weed addiction, and I share mine here.

I am a university student of 22 years that lives in Barcelona that is saturated because of marijuana. I wanted to thank you because you have been the only person who has explained in an unbeatable way the reality of a smoker and I have felt more identified than ever. After your speech I have more strength to leave her and become that person that I have been hiding for a long time. I will remember each of your words during my progress. Thanks from Spain.

long term use changes your brain. so normal stuff isn't as fun anymore and also boredom is harder to endure. you develope more dopamine receptors over time so you need more dopamine aka fun to get stimulated and feel good.

For me, getting high became like being completely alone in your own mind. At 1st it was fun, but the longer I did it, the more I felt I was completely isolating myself. I think you'll get your appetite back and sleep better eventually if you quit, but it does take some adjustment time.

Just thought I would comment as the partner of an addicted spouse for over 27 years. It literally stole from me a marriage due to his inability to be intimate on every level. It robbed our 4 children of an engaged father. My children always knew when he smoked and his mood swings. The past 6 years have been the worst as it has now made him impotent and he is fine with it because he loves weed way more than he ever loved me. PLEASE stop and develop who you are emotionally and spiritually without substances that heavily affect your brain chemistry and the straight people in relationships with YOU! Your private sin does not just affect you it affects all of the people around you who love you! Jesus most of all loves you and wants you addicted to Him only! it’s too late for me but you can change! God bless!

That's my problem too bro, what I do is just watch the scariest horror movies you can find, ding-dong-ditch houses at midnight with friends, play Fallout on Legendary. I'm afraid you have to become more do-er and less watch-er, if you know what I mean. Weed is good to make you enjoy time while _doing_ nothing. So you have to start doing things. Draw, cook, study, exercise and write. Instead of sitting on the couch, maybe go bowling, hiking or go and take pictures of things you find interesting. Do things and improve yourself.
@kkiller81
@kkiller81 7 лет назад
I know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately I felt the same way for way to long in my life. I smoked regularly everyday for about 20 yrs started when I was 13 I'm now 35. My best advice is force yourself to stop for at least 5 months. Give your body a chance to refresh feel what life is like without it again. The habit doesn't go away overnight just like it didn't develop overnight but you will get better with time, you should notice some positive changes around the 2 month mark, and it only gets better from there. You can do it! Good luck to you hope this helps.

I’m only 21 years young but smoked my first at age 12 and started smoking heavy at age 16 until age 19 very very heavy. I quit early on because I knew my potential. What helped me is my dad and I moved states and I had no more weed friends and no connect to buy. That helped me . That first year I put on 40 pounds of pure muscle. A discipline you usually get going to the army. I ate like a body builder. Very strict. No soda . No chips. No candy. They may sound hard but it wasn’t for me. I relapse thoe and what made me relapse what saying to myself “I’m sure I can do it occasionally” and also tough times in life. That was never the case. I relapsed about 4 time sustain my two years of wanting to quit. This was my last relapse and never plan on going back. I feel high on life. I feel at the moment . Simply just great. I started my business. My RU-vid Chanel. And I started packing on some good weight again.!!! If I want to quit. Quit!!! It is not impossible

probably the best video on why to quit smoking or using marijuana.. when you’re a teenager it’s fun and “different” kinda like a whole new life experience but you are so spot on with your points and how it can become excuse to be less productive and to be free from your stress with the real world. i like to live life like if i was still in my child-like mindset, being in tune with what’s around me and taking life for granted even if i’m stressed.

It has removed the lathergy to move forward in my career..funny thing is, I wasn't even that aware of how much I was missing.. just sort of knew it was time. As a music producer I always had this idea that weed was the key to tapping into my best creative self.. couldn't be further from the truth! Its videos and writings like this that have kept me from slipping back. I have done more towards my life goals in the last month than I have in prob 4 years without that devious lil herb. This was so meaty and rich with depth and because it's a psychedelic drug it needs to be explained in a psychedelic way. I totally understood when you mentioned about feelings we don't get when we are high. I had quit this thing for a couple years and ran into a really stressful situation, I had a friend of mine mention it (it's always around me, I cant get away from it) and convinced myself to just buy a dime bag, this was 7months ago and while a joint will last me a few days, I'm still smoking every day when I get off of nightshift and have been for 6 to 6 months now, also smoking on my off days here and there. I'm right back to where I started. It seems to have a little hold over me at the moment. However, I will push forward and kill this thing once and for all. Not to mention dreams will come back (we never dream when we are high) our bodies are operating normally when we dream. Something to think about.

Sleeping is difficult still and I'm having depression, but now I drink chamomile 6-7 cups a day and it helps me sleep a lot. My motivation is barely starting to come back this week. Brain fog is still present at times. I lost all social skills, but hopefully I go back to normal soon. All this is true in the vid though 👍🏼

Y’all will succeed in giving it up. Weed is thankfully not the most harmful substance to the body and detoxing from it while still a challenge is much less extreme than other substances. Just continue on until you begin to remember the feels of life before you tried weed. If your still using the substance rn you’ll underestimate how much you’ve truly forgotten about your past life and the feels that we’re attached to it. It’s hard to describe the moment when you’ve given it up for awhile and this unbelievably familiar feeling comes back and surprises the living shit out of you. At first you’ll feel like you almost lost your past self and your just glad to have it back but it’s never going to be too late to transition back to your pure form, it just might take longer for the full transition to take place the longer you’ve been away from it thus stopping now is the fastest way to become reacquainted with your beautiful intelligent creative self you always knew you were

Well put! I've been smoking for 40 years, have recognized for a long time that I'm psychologically addicted. Have built in long breaks because of that to recalibrate and get back to health and normalcy, knowing I'd pick it up again and accepted that cycle as the cost of doing business. This time around am strongly considering quitting for good, so have listened to half dozen other testimonials. This one nails it for me, well done, Sir! Thank you for sharing your story.

Very great analysis. I must say, as someone who also has quit recently for many of the same reasons you did, it is frightening considering the reality of legalization. People who depend on mind altering substances that don't "need" them for medical reasons literally become zombies within their dependencies. People need to find their inner strength to enjoy life without depending on things they don't "need". Life isn't just going to be daises and roses, but it provides all of the tools necessary for you to create happiness. You must create happiness. Weed isn't just going to give it to you. That happiness is entirely synthetic.

You don't have to completely cut out the things you love. Same as junk food or whatever, just moderate and try not to do things compulsively and 24/7. Take a 1-2 week break to bring down your tolerance that saves money and makes it more enjoyable. Like people on diets they cut out all sugar treats to begin with but they will likely cave back into old habits after a couple of months. If you really want out you'll get out but if it's too hard for you I think a part of you really loves it, so don't torture yourself too much. Be reasonable but also take your pleasures where you can in life 😘

I have a theory about weed, weed makes you feel good, feeling good all the time is bad, people getting a stronger mind when they have resistance when they have issues and they try to deal with them, if you solve all issues by weed your mind tolerance become weak , like body muscles don't grow or become weak if you don't have resistance on them if you use weed, you should not do it for the immediate pleasure of for the external world, you should NOT try to do it to resolve your depression or sadness immediately when they occur but try your best to deal with them, if you cant sleep at night don't sleep at night, the way to use weed is INDIRECTLY, meaning , wake up at 4 am in the morning consume your weed and go back to bed without eating anything without consuming any content, when you wake up later the weed high effect should be out of your body,but the effect on the rest of the day should be good. you should do it only on the weekend. that is the recipe PS: don't consume diff strains, choose one and go with it, if you want to change a strain, make sure that the old one is out of your body, meaning don't consume for 2 weeks. we are the host of the cannabis (flower) like the movie VENOM , and the flower don't like sharing the HOST (us)

EVERYTHING you are saying is sooo spot on. First time i saw this video I wanted to wrap my last nugget in a kilo of duck tape. I wanted to trap it the way it trapped me and leave it in some dark place, the way it left me. But then I realized, my brain is just playing another MANIPULATIVE GAME to keep it, to keep the feeling, to keep false memories, so i flushed it. The thing about distorted memories hit me so hard man, because its so true. I smoked basically daily for past 7 years, and it pretty much destroyed me. I wanted to be a physicist, I still want that, but it kept me away from my dream because I was basically cognitively impaired by it, brain fog kept me away from life in general, let alone complex calculations I needed to do. I always found excuses, Richard Feynman smoked, I'll have new insights etc. etc.But the truth is, it created an aura around me, aura of not giving a f&&k about anything, it acted as a spiritual and psychological sedative or suppressor. That aura WILL NOT let you to see yourself and your goals clearly. Its crazy how insidious it is. It will make you live a HALF LIFE, with UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES (gamers will resonate) that will destroy you when you see them clearly. I respect you so much for this, and for saying that "smoking sometimes" is NOT okay once you jumped on an addiction train, because it is a trap, and I have fallen in it HUNDREDS of times. Once I quit for 8 months, thought lets do it one time again, just for fun, then 3 years passed while stoned... I tried lots of things, nothing posed a problem (even f$c(ing ketamine), except for god damned weed. Too long, I started to vent out here, sorry. Thank you man, peace and love from F&$C/INg Bosnia and Herzegovina (problem reaches that far). P.S. Your kid rocks the piano :)

I’ve been sober for 2 weeks now and I completely agree with this. After a year of smoking every day multiple times a day, I fount myself way to dependent on it, wether I could eat, sleep, be happy, and just being able to to enjoy myself and what I’m doing all depended on if I was high or not. After I stopped, about a week after I found myself much happier, sleeping better, and found that weed was no longer even on my mind.

@controllerbrain

Good video. The way I see it, if weed becomes priority in your life, if you're putting it first above other things, then something needs to change. Examples include declining social outings to stay indoors and get high, getting pissed off when your dealer can't supply you for the weekend, interrupting (or cutting short) something you're doing so you can go pick up. If it's not priority, you'll be happy to attend social outings and not get high for that night, you won't care about this weekend being weed free, you won't care about contacting the dealer too late and potentially miss out. When it's priority, the idea of not getting high scares you so you'll seize every opportunity to get high. When it's not priority, you'll be happy to miss out and get high on some other unscheduled day. Being weed addicted means you want to be high all the time at all costs. *If you want to include weed in your life but in a balanced way, then you need to be ok with being sober at times. You need to enjoy sobriety. That way, you'll actually enjoy being high more.* Easier said than done, but that's the key.

Cortney P I've also been smoking heavy for 6 years and I'm now on day 16 of quitting. My health has started to suffer in the last year, which I'm convinced is due to my heavy smoking. High blood pressure, nose bleeds and constant migraines. I do believe cannabis is a medicine but not the way I've abused it. I also believe that my mental health is suffering due to living in my spaced out bubble,I just can't seem to do life anymore. Anyways I've decided enough is enough and I'm now a non smoker as far as I'm concerned now. Good luck with your addiction, I hope you manage to turn you back on it. All these problems what marijuana brings to your life, lack of energy/motivations etc. It all comes down to the _person_ using the drug. All these associations we have are made by us, made by our thoughts into our memory and experience. I feel like when you see and observe this movement of thought and all these thoughts associated you can actually get rid of all the "problems" and have all the energy you need to achieve whatever it is you want. I honestly believe the cause of these psychological problems is not the plant, but the user. The user is the Core and whatever is going on in the core, all the emotions life situation etc. are getting amplified By the drug, the drug is like Input to your Core.

While this may be subjectively true relative to the individual, it doesn't remove any of the objective effects of marijuana on the brain. Which begs the question even if you are motivated enough to do these things are you as effective at them as you would be if you were sober beyond withdrawal? Are you crashing your dopamine receptors? Since dopamine encourages motivation It's important to know if this habit is wreaking more damage then it is helping you. Is it worth it to feed into something for the illusion of relaxation?
@391C
@391C 6 лет назад
Indeed it is really important to know if the habit is wreaking more damage than it is helping you, knowing and seeing what substances are doing to you, and seeing the thoughts it is bringing to your mind is important in order to use the substance correctly

The longest ive gone is 5 days within the 3 years, which was my last attempt to quit. I don't want to quit. I have a subconscious need to always be hyperfixated on something or someone, emotionally primarily but literally anything. And weed has just become my copping mechanism, my creative fuel, my study fuel, my anxiety attack reliever, my depression and self destructive thoughts reliever, sleep aid, meditation aid, fun, everything. And I've felt lost and forgetful and sad and this video actuslly helped a little Idk if i'l stop anytime soon... idk if I can but i hope somewhere along the lines, I get the motivation to

Im doing a philosophy degree now, im 45 have smoked weed since i was 21 and still do, but ibecause i still do Ive been failing subjects, and procrastinating like a mofo, i consider myself pretty intelligent, people have been saying this about me since I was like 8 not to brag but i say this just to highlight the fact that if I hadve quit a long time before starting this degree, I would probably do even better than ive done so far as I have achieved a few HDs (a High Distinction grade) for my essays and had other not so great grades because I just stubbornly refuse to quit and cling to weed like a damn crutch, now im reading about all this PGR stuff thats in the weed in Australia and was horrified recently that most of the weed ive smoked these past 20 years has had this awful chemical in it, anyway i will be alright because ive pretty much cut it down to juat doing it a week on and a week off for about 8 years and have tried longer periods of abstinence from time to time, from a philosophy perspective, I read years ago that the french philosopher Baudrillard said drugs were like 'plastic surgery for the psyche' and this small idea has helped me demythologise weed and see it as something less positive than Ive done in the past. Peace out.

I've been watching a lot of videos about tolerance breaks recently and have been recommended many videos similar to this one about quitting marijuana for good. I've never experienced any negative affects from marijuana and still get everything done that I need to do for work, my goals, relationships, etc. I'm watching this video because I'm trying to have an open mind and see if I really do need to quit, but I feel just about the same that I do normally smoking daily at the moment. I have been saving money and that's good so I think I'll quit for that reason, but soon I'm getting my own house. It's a cabin in the woods and I'm going to grow my own food while working from home to support my family! I'm really glad about this lifestyle change and I think I'm going to only start smoking weed that I grow myself, that way I'm working for every part of the high I'm receiving. Thanks for the insight man, it's really helped me be more self sufficient!

The best way to quit (if you're having trouble quitting) is to take a two week vacation to someplace where you don't have access to it.

@Metal Mystic You have to go someplace where you have zero access to it. And delete your connects numbers. It worked for me...after 7 years of smoking and numerous times trying to quit.

@Metal Mystic I live in Michigan and it's medically legal. But ANYBODY (18 or older) with $120 and a complaint of headaches, back pain, trouble sleeping or eating can get a medical marijuana card. I had a medical marijuana card when I faked back pain. Too easy. The dispensaries...I just ignore them or avoid them. How many years have you been smoking? Were you smoking everyday sun up to sun down or only a few times a week? And about how many grams per day? So many factors.

I quit for a good job. I smoked for years and the first week clean was tough, but after that is was fine. I still love everything about weed even though I don’t smoke. It’s a great plant. 🙂

Thanks for your perspective. I am on day one of quitting the herb after a little over 5 years of daily smoking. I picked it back up after retiring from the military and initially used it for physical and emotional pain control. I don't remember the withdrawals being so bad as a teenager but its doing a number on me and I have to get past it. Of the dozens of video I've watched on this subject, you really hit home why I feel I need to make a change. Thanks again.

I am actually really happy to see so many comments from people who acknowledge how difficult quitting is. I don’t personally indulge more than once every few years, usually to remind me that I honestly don’t enjoy it that much. But I know FAR too many people with this monkey on their back. Some for a few years, some for several decades. One in particular who suffers from CHS and STILL can’t quit. If being hospitalized due to severe pain and vomiting won’t make somebody stop, they are an ADDICT. Full-stop.

I'm sure anyone can stop smoking weed easily if they wanted to. It's nowhere near as addictive as alcohol or cigarettes. The plant isn't the problem. It's lack of self control that is the problem. Marijuana doesn't change your personality or your rationality. I stopped smoking weed for 6 years after smoking non stop almost daily. I had no cravings for it or any sort of desperation whatsoever. Piece of cake. Marijuana isn't like cigarettes or alcohol other than the fact that it's a drug. What people mistake for addiction is just them actually wanting to smoke it. It's like eating your favorite food. No one wants to stop eating their favorite food do they?

Good for you, but for me i can't sleep like at all, i will lay 8 hours in bed awake until i have work, if im so lucky to fall asleep i wake up few hours later in a bed that is wet as the ocean with sweat, so wet i have to change sheets, eating is a task aswell, no appetite so im force feeding myself. I get extremely restless, i feel like a elefant in a 4x4 room on adderal, boredom is to the point you get crazy and wanna pull your hair out, and because of all the above i have a high temperament and will get angry over the smallest of things, it's easy for you to say it's easy when you don't have any of the withdrawl signs, the process is not the same for everyone...

Also difference between your weed addiction and mine is i dident smoke "almost" everyday, i smoked every single day 6-10 times a day, only time i dident smoke was when i was at work or school, i have friends that i smoked with that also smoked "almost everyday" and non of them are addicted to this day, but all my daily smoking friends feel the same way as me....

Thank you for sharing this honest and thoughtful perspective of your journey through and out of cannabis usage. For years I have glorified this herb and believed it to be my best friend. I used alone and didnt like the pace or the methods that others used. It was a very special clandestine relationship that I had with Cannabis for a whopping 18 years. Then when I quit (cold turkey) it was.... what can I say.... a blessing. Yes it was hard and still is but I have supernatural help I think. I hurt myself, cried buckets, itched and ached to become comfortably numb again but I knew that giving in means disease that my insurance wont cover, loved ones will be devastated, I can be blackmailed by those who knew, I can never live or work in countries that have a death penalty for cannabis usage (Like singapore or even philippines), I can never find love/friendship/companionship in a non-user, my circle will be restricted to users and sympathizers of weed (many of who are just pushers in my world) and the reasons go on... The universe came together to help me see the problem. We need grace and blessings to get out of a problem that disguises itself as a boon. I am grateful for the life Ive lived but I now want it without the haze of a stoned head and contorted emotions
