Not at all. The plugins which are heavily loaded with features and files may reduce the speed. This is just a minor plugin. I have been using for 6 years and working so well

You need to install and configure WP SMTP plugin and insert the mail details with host, email, password and port number. Once you do this, you will start receiving emails in your inbox.

Might have been a good idea to show a final result.. Maybe even send an email to see how it works.. So, I'm not saying it doesn't work, I'm saying you didn't do enough to convince me.. Hope this helps!
