For those that own the CloudEclipse and have this same issue (I had this on the surfer too). I found it was the front two holes that were squeaking on the toe off for me. Roughed these up with the back end of a pencil flossing through and the noise went away. Thank you for this video!
Sanding is only temporary since walking/running will make them smooth again so the squeaks return…..i ended up using a dremel to lightly scuff up the channels and leave the ‘flakes’ in there. No squeaking in months.
This works - thank you! Mine were squeaking terribly! People were stopping in the street to let me pass by them and it was putting me off wearing them - now sorted 👌
The location of the sounding hole will be determined depending on where you put your weight. This problem will not occur in the early stage, but it will do naturally as the elasticity of the midsole decreases. If the same problem occurs in more than 1% of products, it needs to be solved in future product.
It works for a little while and then they start squeaking again. I almost have to do this every day I wear the shoe. It really is a pain in the rear. Maybe I need better emery boards so something. It also seems to happen more often after it rains and the ground is wet. The shoes are very comfortable, but would tell someone not to buy them unless they want to squeak all the time. It is such a shame I paid so much for these shoes.
Thank you so much for this video! I needed this. My Cloudsurfers started squeaking past the 50-mile mark. Living in the Midwest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep them to run on the treadmills in the gym come the winter. It would’ve been embarrassing to squeak out the whole gym.
I’ve got the cloud surfer water proofs and this has started happening to me. The annoying thing is they are replacements from On because my previous pair (not cloud surfers) the inside of the heel on both shoes had worn through the fabric and was giving me blisters each time I wore them. Now I’ve got to start sanding my £150 shoes, I really like them but this is really putting me off getting another pair of Ons
Just watched the video and took a belt sander belt from my painting supplies. Then I cut the belt crosswise, then cut a strip off the belt - just narrower than the sole slots. Sanded 10x each direction - full length of the belt strip. Will advise on outcome. Note: the belt coarseness was definitely towards the rough end of the spectrum as opposed to a finishing belt.
i put a dab of vasoline in each of the back pods, the loud squeak became a quiet squelch but it was no longer annoying. it did turn those pods into dirt magnets though.
Great to find this video, was just about to contact on about my shoes, two pairs squeaking. Feel for the cost of them should not have to do this fix but grateful that I can as I love them in every other dimension.
Hi, this shoe is in my rotation for a few months after exactly 320 km, the squeaking noise came just after a wet tartan track session... I don't have sandpaper so, I put a thin layer of WD40 in those holes... There is no horrible squeaking noise anymore ! I bought the pair on the global release date, so maybe it's a common default for the first who has been sold ? Still sad that we have to do that on an expensive pair like this 😅
Just to chime in - I’d advise not using regular WD-40 as it’s a degreaser and ultimately a dust magnet. Though, the dust might actually help the squeak. Rather, I’d use a Silicone Spray which WD-40 makes as well. This should make it go bye bye for hopefully ever. If not, it’s easy enough to spray when needed.
The noise my CloudSurfer makes is more like a quack verses a squeak. Totally embarrassing. This fix did not work for me. I used a drill bit in my cordless drill to try to rough them up. Maybe I did not rough them up enough but did nothing to stop the irritating noise. I personnaly do not think that is where the noise I am experiencing is coming from. It feels like the green or hard part of the sole is sticking to smooth surfaces. I have hardwood floors at home and polished concrete on my office floors. I have never had such irritating shoes. My last pair definitely.
Just off the phone with On customer service regarding three week old cloudtec squeaking shoes (same thing happened to last pair after 2 months they told be I was not tying them correctly!) This time he said he would not say that but perhaps they were wet! (I am not making this up). Did offer to refund my money but I would have to package them up and drop them at a ups store (what is my time worth?). Sooo NEVER ever buy On shoes. Very unfortunate as they are comfortable but....
I have On cloudeclipse and mine also Start squeaking after 1.5 months I try sand paper trick but nothing it's the same. I also connect to customer service they suggest some tricks but they are not working like sprinkling some baby powder under the insole for socking moisturizer but nothing. Does anyone have any alternative solutions?
Do you see the same issues with the could eclipse? and does the same remedy seem to work? I'd like to buy a pair but this might be a dealbreaker for me
The orange ones seemed to squeak most frequently. My surfers or eclipse never squeak so it’s really down to weight of strike and strike position. I run mid foot and heavy heel strikers seem to suffer the squeak the most!
I own a pair of eclipse in 11.5 men’s. I bought them for work as I stand throughout my shift. They squeak terribly. I don’t like wearing them bc of the squeak. They started to make noise around 3 months of use for me.
Thanks so much mine are squeaking like mfs! Was just wondering maybe a bit of washing up liquid in the holes would do it too? Edit: yep I put some washing up liquid in the holes and squeak is gone. Mine are cloudstratas.
Didn't work for me. Emory boards are too short to get through the wide part of the shoe, so used that along with heavy sandpaper. No change in squeaking, not sure this is a real solution. Also as it is only on my right shoe, would say it IS a production defect, or it would be consistent on all shoes. I will have to try WD 40 next !!
@@pdjhh Will try it out. I've just received my emery boards and have thoroughly sanded through the holes/pods several times. I plan to test them out on a quick run next week to see if they're effective. I'm somewhat concerned that wet conditions, like rain or mud, might exacerbate the squeaking. Have you found the dish soap method to be effective in significantly reducing the squeak for an extended period?
@@xzzdmit works 💯 however I had to put a bit more in after a apple of weeks. The squeak is more profound when going down hills and only the holes in the rear need to be treated.
Avoid these shoes. Unstable causing knee pain, loud and squeaky. I may end up trying the solution that starts at 2 min 45 seconds before throwing these away
