I have suffered from this nightmare for a while back. It was so strong that I spent many badly slept or sleepless nights for months. I do not wish this to my worst enemy. The eppley maneuver helped me a lot but the cost was high. It triggered the vertigo so bad there was times I almost cried. It took a lot of courage to keep doing this exercises. But this is the way. You gotta go through the motions, Literally. Don't loose hope. As bad as it sounds it will pass.
@@ZAY902 yeah, I had to do them at least once per day for a long time. It only helped bppv, doesn't do anything if it's some other type of dizziness. At least for me.
This doctor is an excellent presenter.....clear, easy to understand, right rhythm of not too slow or fast, and really has excellent breakdown of each exercise. Kudos to him--great job!
After about 18 months of not having any vertigo episodes I was all of a sudden experiencing some of the worst vertigo I have ever had. I was afraid to drive. I did the Brandt-Daroff exercise for 1 round and now my vertigo is completely gone! Literally 15 minutes of self treatment has freed me. I obviously don't know if/when it will come back but this has seemed cure me. I guess my crystals have been reset. Who knows what's gonna happen but right now I am elated. This is worth a try if you're suffering.
Something that can help with vertigo as you are doing these maneuvers is to put in tight fitting earplugs or a few drops of olive oil and some cotton. This works because there is generally an increased pressure behind your eardrums when you are suffering vertigo and adding in either earplugs or oil and cotton, creates a bit of equalization from the outside. I have had vertigo for more than a decade and when I feel it coming on and I need to function, I plug my ears and do either the foster or epley
I have suffered from extreme motion sickness for over 3 weeks. PT did Epley manuver etc . Your example that worked for me was the somersault positioning. I am forever grateful for your example.
I had that happen to me. It was horrible. I did the Epley Maneuver 3 or 4 times that resolved the issue. Thank God for good teachers like you. You have to hang in there and do the maneuver several times until the symptoms are gone It works.
I was working on my truck in very awkward positions with my head and after a few days I felt so off balance and dizzy and sick to my stomach .. I went to the hospital after I almost passed out from walking and they told me the problem and gave me one exercise but didn’t seem to be enough to help , so I went back to this channel to see if there were any more exercises and sure enough you never fail ! Thank you so much for posting these exercises it’s really starting to help me get back to normal ! Been a long time subscriber to this channel and this is why 🙏
My first bout with this vertigo was in 2020 and it put me in bed for 5 days! The first 6 hrs I couldn’t leave the bathroom floor because of the nausea! Went to doc on day 5 and went through the eply and started to get better right away. I have mild bouts now every now and then! I get well enough to forget about it then out of nowhere it reminds me it’s still around! Fortunately it has been fairly mild but bad enough to keep me from being motivated to do much except exercises. This couch method worked really well for me today! Thank you!
My mum had this during lock down for a number of days, couldn't see a doctor etc. The first one was a bit too hard for her because of her age and mobility, but the couch method worked basically the first time, like magic after suffering for days.
Thanks for this technique it worked me through I was uncomfortable from the beginning. I threw up in the process. Feeling much better now. Forever greatful. We pray to God to grant you more wisdom. Amen
I am having vertigo for 3rd time in 20 years. Have been to chiropractor & acupuncture & ER. ER doc says all I need is exercises. I have tried the first 2 exercises on this video & so far they seem to be helping. Thank you.
Thank you! The first method worked. I was skeptical but it totally stopped my constant vertigo that I have due to a cold. I was getting worried because lt was getting so bad that I couldn't even drive. Your a life saver
I am in the same boat. Bad cold, sinus issues leading to blocked ear and balance issues. I haven't been able to drive for a couple of weeks now. It really is debilitating. I am hoping these exercises help 🤞🤞🤞
This actually works, did this for the first time yesterday. Had vertigo for the last 7days , this is the first bit of relief I've had since. Thanks doc!
Thank you so very much doctor your exercises have changed my life I was suffering from vertigo from 1 week I used to cry I come over your video now it seems that vertigo never happened God always bless you 😊😊😊
It works! For the 1st one i felt nothing, but the 2nd (Brandt-Daroff) made my head spinning a lot & throw out, when lye down sleep later another spin. Took a lot of courage to continue doing it(weekly :p , next time already seen much improvement) At 4th week, vertigo totally gone! Now i can sleep on left side after 3 months of suffering. Thanks a lot Dr Rowe, and everyone else who shared their experiences.
@@ElMachoBorrachoDepending on the severity of your BPPV, be prepared for some potentially severe spinning, nausea and sometimes vomiting. Suggest instruction by a qualified medical professional to guide and assist your initial maneuvers. Then when you know proper techniques you might continue on your own. When I was taught, the room spun at a disturbing speed. 🍀
Thank you Dr Rowe. Woke up with vertigo this morning. Did your exercises an felt some relief in 30 minutes. Will continue doing them today until the symptoms are hopefully totally gone. You are a godsend 🥰
Thank you! I thought I was stuck with the feeling forever. Extremely noticable relief first try. I will do this a few times a day for now but thanks! I now see/have hope!!!
I'm so glad this video popped up in my feed. I've been having horrible dizziness and vertigo for about 3 weeks now and it's really crippling. I work from home but I've had to take time off because this has been so terrible. I'm seeing a PT tomorrow finally and I'm betting they'll help me with these exercises 🙌
my attack happened at my Brother's funeral, 2yrs ago, still have a problem, but has reduced over time, but that makes me forget sometimes, then I get a sharp reminder again,
I had vertigo so bad this past Monday that I had to call 911. I was throwing up and the room was spinning, horrible headache and neck ache. I will try the exercises. I pray they help me.
I just got over what I believe was a stomach virus (or food poisoning), and my vertigo was so intense I couldn’t pick my head up from my pillow. After whatever it was left my body, I was still left with a horrible spinning sensation - it was like I was permanently drunk for 5 days. I couldn’t figure out why I still had spinning when I knew I was rehydrated. I looked into vertigo and found this video, I tried all of the methods and they worked!!! I’m basically back to normal now. Thank you for this!! Literal magic.
@@DrRowe I just found you, thanks to my mother. Could you do a video on disembarkment syndrome and how to help it? I have a family member who suffers TERRIBLY with dizziness. She has been diagnosed with DS but I'm not so sure if that it a correct diagnosis. She is resolute to stay in her current condition because after all, these techniques are fpr BPPV
Mine started with severe vomiting that I thought was food poisoning or a virus too. After two trips to the ER they said it was vertigo. Now day 5 hoping it leaves soon. It's so scary.
Thank you for this video. I did the Foster maneuver and immediately afterward, was able to lie down on either side with zero dizziness. It worked for me. Feel completely fine today. However, doing the exercise to check which ear is affected it was a little scary. Immediately made me vomit. So make sure you have a bucket ready just in case.
I am suffering through this disaster after getting my both ears infection. In this condition I am unable to sit, stand or walk. Even while sleeping, I feel like falling from the sky and spinning head. Dear Dr. Your way of making it understand to us is really amazing. I am feeling better now just by watching it. I will try to fix it with your directions. If I am not able, then I will walk to the local hospital. Thanks for this life saving video.🙏
When I went to ER in UT, they asked if had a hard bump on the head. I guess under certain circumstances, that can dislodge the crystals. We all get bumps, but mine was not even a hard one. I laid on my right , affected side I learned..& w/read..before the event occurred. I was told to keep my head elevated above my heart when sleeping..ever after. This has never happened again, but would if I lay on my right side. So this is good news in case needed. I won't try any unless forced to..again.
You are welcome so much!! I am feeling much better today. I am so grateful for your channel for all of the issues you have helped me with, thank you so much.
Day 1 of my first (hopefully last) episode at midnight was dreadful. I thought I was dying. Yelled like I was in he'll. It was addressed by Epley maneuver and 80% problem resolved in 10 minutes, thanks to diagnosis by my daughter. Rest 20% stayed in the form of dizziness and nausea. Then I saw these video. Did all of them on Day-4. It was 100% relief in few minutes!!. Hundred thanks for making this video. If you have BPVV, you will definitely get relief.
I was alone and woke up at 6 am to pee when I realized the room was spinning and I could not walk. I had to crawl on my stomach to open the door for the medics. I thought for sure I was dying, I didn’t say a word. Just said, ok, god help me.
This particular presentation was very helpful. My instant from nowhere vertigo came yesterday. I suffered through it because I was busy. Finally, I tried the maneuver from memory of a different video but then watched this one. I was “treating” the wrong ear! So in this video you’ll discover which side is giving you the trouble. Two times carefully following instructions, It Is Gone! Next morning now, no signs of dizziness.
I suffered this awful nightmare for more than eight years. I went through an ayurvedic treatment to get rid of it for the most part. But I learnt how to stop the vertigo in a few seconds whenever I had a crisis. This was to spray ear cleaning liquid into the ears. Two squishes and you're done. Of course it's important to have this handy at all times. I have it in my handbag all the time. Otherwise, use a dropper and just put water. For long time relief use a few drops of warm to hot sesame seed oil in the ears say once a week to keep ears clean, healthy and devoid of inner ear imbalance symptoms. Clear ears with cotton bud say half hour after oil drop. Works magic! The exercises you recommend are extremely difficult to do when the whole room is spinning at lighting speed and you can't even move your eyes.
Thanks for giving us several options to help us when those dang “spins” invade our lives! So much emphasis is put in the Epley Maneuver to help with vertigo that I think many people are not aware - until NOW! - that other relief movements do exist. Keep all this good info coming!💕
Doctor: Thank You for the video and the professional advise provided. I must say as an active senior/retired veteran it is very much appreciated. Al sends
Thank you for giving several methods of therapy to try for relieving vertigo. I suffer with it from allergies - sinus, post nasal mucus, headaches, feels like cotton in my ears, etc. Problem is i also have tinnitus, & eye, head movevements & ( sometimes) even deep beathing causes tinnitus to sound staccato instead of steady noise. Also nausea with the dizziness makes me want to cry it's so relentless. I will try these exercises, hopefully they will be successful. Sinus meds helped, but now with heart issue, I'm not supposed to take them. Blessings to all who suffer ❤

These same symptoms have been a nightmare for almost 10 years. At first I was not able to understand the reason for my vertigo but now i know while sleeping on my right side I get vertigo. Medicines are a temporary relief. I do exercise quite similar to this which is nauseating. I still avoid looking at my phone while lying on the bed and when I am in the car as that increases my symptoms.
I had vertigo so bad, woke up with it. I vomited, and it completely cured it!!😮 i think maybe the motion of being sick, moved the crystals in my ear. I feel so bad for people who have this.
I've been feeling i am going to fall out of bed. Fall over while walking, etc, it's s really weird feeling. Yes, there is some on/off dizziness, brain fog , edema(whole body) just a whole lot of rotten. I'm so excited to have found you today ..I've been praying.
I've had dizzy spells before as well as what i believe was a mild vertigo episode ... But this morning i experienced a truly terrible vertigo episode!..I tried a couple of these excercises and within about 25 minutes the vertigo and added nausea was completely gone!! The intense vertigo spinning around feeling took less than 5 minutes to dissapear! Thank u!
ty for sharing info for free vertigo is awful, my first experience was a month ago when I awoke in the middle of the night with the bed spinning. It felt like I was having an outer body experience and felt as if the I was levitating out of the bed, when I tried to get up off the bed I had no balance and almost fell my legs felt numb and my feet were also. After changing my diet considerably and with the help of quite a few chiropractors it has subsided considerably. Ty LORD for these compassionate chiropractors for sharing this info as I am 69 yrs old, with no car or way to get to a chiropractor for an adjustment. Praise GOD -YAH
Okay somethings very wrong when so many people are suffering from vertigo! I’ve gotten my crystals back in place I think! But I’m still experiencing some degree of dizziness today! 🤷♀️
I had an MRI done very recently. Results show a brain lesion on the right side of the frontal lobe which is responsible for Bell's Palsy. I'm also very dizzy most of the time. I will try these exercises and pray they stop the dizziness.
This is a great video, but what I think might also be helpful is if you demonstrate each maneuver in real time so we can see what it looks like fluidly. Again great video and the doctor did an amazing job slowly explaining everything
THANK YOU, for your video of vertigo exercises..It really helps, I am 76 and I also feel the Vertigo is not good each day that I experience it..I will do your proposed exercises to help..THANK YOU..
Thank you so much for all these knowledgeable exercises. I've been living with vertigo for a very long time and I just find it so difficult to do these because it just makes me feel sicker, but I know I have to keep doing them to try to get rid of this. It can be very debilitating. ❤ What I'm curious about is that there seems to be more and more cases coming out with this. What research is being conducted? I also read that colds, flying, carnival rides, also can bring this on. How and why are the crystals being moved out of the middle ear anyway?
Thanks for sharing this information with me. I just started getting this vitego symptoms . The doctor sold me I have crystal in my ear he gave a couple of excises to do I had a CT scan done he said I was just forgetful i had a bad case of dizzyness 2 days ago i will try this exercise you have prescribed
Today is day 36 of vertigo for me. This has been debilitating and severely impacting my life. I’ve gone to the ENT just to be told “wait it out” then back again and told to do PT and go low sodium. Nothing has been helping me. I found this video and while I can’t imagine doing the somersault exercise week 1 with how much I was spinning, I did it today and I felt better! I think if I can keep this up for a few more days I might actually be done with this horrible vertigo. THANK YOU THANK YOU . I honestly wanted to cry because I have been so sick dizzy and unable to do anything. I will keep up with this
Wishing U all speedy recovery from this scary conditions I have had it fr almost 30years sometimes i feel is gone forever I get relief fr a few months then it comes back with a vengeance.life is not good but now gotten used to it.i have done all that i cud but i guess it's frever
I'll be praying for you. Mine lasted 8 months and I had no ear infection or anything showing in an mri. No clue what caused it. I worry all the time it will come back.
Couple weeks ago vertigo hit me out of the blue. Never had it before, and never had problems with balance or anthing. But it was so debilitating, to say the least, that I couldn't move without help and severe motion sickness. Hospital had to stop diagnosing me that day because my reactions were frightening. They put me on a drip of ondansetron and kept me for 3 days. Still can't thru the full motions of these maneuvers and have to do very basic exercises atm and using a walker for safety. Even watching you makes my stomach churn LOL. But I can do most daily chores as long as I keep my head up (literally). I hope this resolves quickly.
I had BPPV many years ago. Also battling Tinnitus for years. MRI soon hearing loss worse in left ear. Woke up at 3am and hardly could walk. Loosing my balance room spinning. I did this excersize 3 times today and will continue to do just because. I don't vertigo to return. It's horrible. Can't believe I suffered for years with vertigo. Once the ENT set my crystals I felt amazing. Good luck everyone.
Just came across this yesterday, ive been through hell for the past 6 weeks, i fainted and ended up in a&e the doc told me i have bppv and its really taking its toll on me, im dizzy, nauseous, off balance, i have headaches and im at the point now where it's just too much for me 🥺 the doctor done the epley on me once i had a small bit of relief but feelings came back again, im gonna try do some of these exercises because im desperate, i just want to feel better, Christmas is in a few days and i just need some relief 🥺
So I tried the BBQ roll and the epley maneuver for the first time today at home and it worked! I got relief for the first time in weeks 😊 it felt great , I'm so thankful to Dr Rowe for making this video because I have felt to down and miserable and felt like I would never feel good again, I really recommend that everyone tried this because it worked for me I felt absolutely horrendous before this and literally 10 minutes later it went away! I'm going to continue to do these exercises and manuveres 3 times a day everyday until my vertigo is completely gone Thank you Dr Rowe for your help
I was at a match event for singles and this guy who was in charge mentioned vertigo. I didn't know exactly what it was. the exercise I will take as you have decent videos. appreciate what you do.

I have to try these!! I’ve had this since I was in high school and now I’m in my 30’s, I get really bad dizzy spells riding in the car, especially on the freeway (passenger) Once I screamed out load because I couldn’t take it, I take Dramamine and at times Bonnie (if that’s what it’s called) they don’t really help much anymore and I tried getting help from doctors but all they have said is “it’s fear” I still remember how I got it (if it is vertigo) I flew for the first time and was fine until a week or so after, we just got in the car from a party. We were crammed in the back because we had several people with us and I put my head down and then that bit of claustrophobia happened and since then I had a hard time at first riding in the car in which if I wanted a haircut and it was a far distance I preferred walking and walking we did and that took several months to conquer. With nobody really helping me it’s gotten a bit worse and I don’t really know what to do anymore so thank you for this!
I had 26 vertigo attacks over 2 years. Found out how to stop it in its tracks, when an attack was impending. I believe it's cause is congestion in the head esp in the lymphatics and sinuses. Anything else is just a trigger. So I deeply swallow it away in half to 2 hours. I'm probably clearing out the sinuses...then swallow any mucus that comes down. After swallowing, instead of breathing out, I take a deep breath in to create some sort of vacuum, to help dislodge or move more mucus. Since I did this for the last 2 attacks, I have been free of them for 2 years now. Unfortunately I have been left partially deaf in the right ear. My opinion is, that the rich 20/21st century diet and lifestyle in so-called civilised countries has contributed to the vertigo problem. Eg. Sugar, dairy and processed foods, esp in colder countries. Find out about detoxing the body, mindful diet, exercise, plenty of water intake as an improved lifestyle to avoid these savage attacks on our sensibilities.
