@@saltNpepper952 yes this is exactly happening with my cat My mom gave everytime food to cat whenever she meowed and now she is so much spoiled that day and night she shouts like hell even after eating too much food
Not mine. Spoil mine but I have a punishment cage. Its one of the cages meant for multiple cats but it restricts hiz movements around the house. He knows to stop when I'm eyeing the cage. Put him in there an hour and he knows he's in trouble
I'm literally watching this because my cat has been screaming for over an hour and keeping me awake until 2 in the morning. He is always extremely vocal but nights are horrible.
How hard is to say, Thank you for the video and the advice? Let him do whatever he wants to do with his cat. It's his, Not yours! So disrespectful by saying "dude"
@@kylerainier8508 for me, it didnt completely stop but its not as bad as it used to be. i did this by letting my male cat go outside in the backyard with me for about 1-2 hours a day, so he can get some energy out of him.. because usually i keep him inside all day.
My mom died and I trying to rehome her 7 year old cat with me. I have it all planed, leave her in bath room tell she gets somewhat used too us. 2nd night she insist on coming out. I cave. She found a register for the old heat pump, not part of the new unit that had come uncovered my son had stuck a pillow in it for ferrites 10 years ago. Cat thinks she'll squize her big ole self in there I can just see her shock when out she dropped. I can laugh now for we have her back safe in the house. But she said not one loud peep the 2 days and 1 night before she fell through the rabbit hole. AND not one peep PERIOD the 6 DAYS she was under the house. AND THEN the 2nd night back the 2nd time she let her YEWOLLE come out too play! holy Toledo ! Man banging on the wall so ok I cave everything is secure, I let her out and she doesn't shut up to take a breath. I think she is wayling cus she misses mom but no she goes down to daughters room and bangs on door like she going to breake it down all the while YEWOLLEING! She wanted to go deep in her closet. That wasn't going too happen. So I got her back on other side of house and my poor granddaughters are like BE QUIT. I'm like saying ignore her just listion and be greatfull ,we thought we'd never see her again. I'm like laughing so hard I'm going to pee my pants everybody's and the poor cat is YEWOLLEING and grandmas trying to get to the potty. LOL HAHAHA 🤣😂 She is one spoiled putty tat. I had to put her in her animal carrier and cover the whole thing up like a noisy ole parriet. We slept and had school on line 3rd grade, 1st grade and kindegarten. Desperate measures. I think the bathroom wasn't small enough. She needed to be contained and she calmed down and she wasn't mad at me I the moring tonight she is snuggling with me. All is well faster than i thought. Sometimes you have to be the alpha cat😉😼😸
I just adopted a cat she kept me up all night to school by meowing but it sounded like "ow ow ow" but she is very quiet, but she is okay with lots of attention
My female cat Emma who is 19 has started yowling. My male cat Oliver who was 13.5 years old, passed away 4 weeks ago. I think she misses him and it's like she's crying for him. I pulled up a picture of him on my tablet, and she couldn't stop staring at it. She sometimes sniffs his toys. His bed is still sitting there with his blanket. I never washed it because I thought that his scent might comfort her. I feel so bad for her.
@@Boats_N_Hoez Yeah Emma is still around. She turned 20 in June. Her health is declining though, so I don't know if she'll still be here for Christmas.
Thanks for the insight Doc.😃 Other things that may keep a highly active/chatty cat busy: * dog treat dispensing ball (add cat kibble & easy setting) * interactive dog puzzles * hiding a small portion of its meals (kibble) around the house so cat must use it’s nose to hunt. * regularly scheduled play time. * have chatty cat wait in separate room while prepping meals. * set up a guest bathroom or catio w/ cat bed, water bowl, toys, soft music..., so your cat will have a safe space to meditate and reflect. 😄 * wear noise canceling headphones while napping/meditating...and remember that your cat is very attached and dependent on your loving kindness, care and affection. Note: to prevent weight gain, deduct the kibble from the cats regular meals. Also, I’m not a professional...So please also share your tips!
Yeah, dude needs to take a hint. Not really gonna trust the word of a guy who continues to hold a cat for several minutes who's clearly pissed off about being held.
@@gracepennell2337 The cat is clearly pissed off. Your comment is akin to telling me I could've left my abusive father's house if I wanted to. Nope; I wanted to; couldn't; trauma is real.
@@LadyKjell Jesus Christ who the hell was talking about your fucking abusive father, there was no reason to bring up YOUR trauma this is a Cat you weirdo. Cats don’t stay because they feeling obligated. Keep your freaking trauma to yourself dude wtf
My cat is a black cat and he keeps yowling and walking up and down the hallway at night.... is something wrong with him? Because he has a full food/water thing every day.... I dunno what his problem is._.
Freefeeding a cat isn't how they should be fed. Feeding a cat 3-4 times a day is ideal. Before each feeding, they need to exercise. Out in the wild, they prey hunt catch and then eat. So doing that for them will help with many behavioral issues. I use the laser pointer to play with my cats and if your cats aren't use to exercising/playing, just be patient about it, they will come around. Keep trying. Some cats just like other toys more. Jackson Galaxy has many toys that cats like so I'd get some from him, get catnip and definitely a laser pointer.
I used to leave out for my cats too so I know how this is. Cats need you more than you think. They need exercise and a lot of it. Try doing it at least 10 minutes 3 times a day. If that can't be done, do 20 minutes on the last feeding before bed. They will be exhausted then eat and won't want to do much besides sleep. Many behavioral issues are solved by doing this. Now I'm not sure if this will solve it fully because there is a chance that something else is wrong with your cat so go to the vet if you can. Either way, please try feeding your cat the right amount, don't let the cat choose how much to eat and exercise is a MUST.
Just a note about NEGATIVE result using L-THEANINE. I gave my yowly 19 year old female cat about 12 mg of L-Theanine sprinkled on her moist food. She was out of it, sleeping, for 2 days. Took her another day and a half to start eating and feeling like herself. She is a pretty healthy old girl. Not sure why she reacted this way but it wasn't good.
Flicking and flapping your hand in front of her face and your other hand not letting her go to the floor to get away from the annoyance is frustrating her and pissing her off. Seriously, if you're going to talk about cat behaviour and ignore when she's frustrated and uncomfortable just seems stupid. Please listen to Gussie more? She's trying to tell you to leave her the heck alone!
mine has this annoying habit of being all friendly and loving and at other times dashing off and running from me when i enter a room or make even the slightest move like im constantly abusing it...it will run off to the other room and yowl for 3 minutes and its SOOOOO annoying. it never did that for 4 years and now its like a daily thing. im honestly at my limit
My cat whines so much and it’s so fucking annoying it’s like she yells at me just for attention smh 🤦🏾♀️ i suffer from misophonia and my cats pitch really bothers me. I want to give her up for adoption but COVID really messed that up Idk what to do with her.
Great vid, Dr. Andrew, except for Gussie's distracting growling. Why didn't you put her down? She wanted to get away. Other than that, I love your vids and the wealth of knowledge and experience you generously share!
LauraBeth Scibetta my proof is that im not a vet im a 15 years old teen while hes a grown up and "a vet" but i can still treat a cat better then him. I think a real vet would know when to let go of the cat even if its for the sake of the video
It’s 2:18am and my cat won’t shut up so I took him outside he wanted back in so I open the door and he wouldn’t go back in, so I had to drag him in, and when I tried to go back in my room the door was locked, I live by myself with my dad who’s asleep on the other side of the house..... needless to say we’re sleeping outside tonight✌️✌️
my female burmese and i have reached a point that i have to separate myself from her to save my sanity, ive taken to locking her outside during the day (depending on her attitude) ive tried methods to teach her the constant whining gets her nothing but she wont learn. she has constant access to dry food and i feed her once a day with wet food she starts from 2pm until i feed her at 5pm. whines when its cold, whines to get attention even whines when she wants to cuddle. i wouldnt mind AT ALL if it wasnt such a soul crushing sound lol.
I can sure relate to the soul-crushing sound part! I really think that's just part of the personality of some cats, and it's better than pissing in the house. Separating yourself from her at certain times is quite okay, I think, to make it possible to keep loving her, and to sleep. I'm sure you take good care of her and give her everything she needs.
Some cats are just shit talkers, I put mine in this category. Typically just playing with the cat helps for me. Otherwise ignoring it he eventually chills out and finds a cozy spot to lay down.
@@banzaihenozu1468 well he was okay later. Ig he didn't like rain. He just used to scream during rain. Now he is not with me. He used go out for a long time then come back after few days. He used to do this sometimes. But one day he went but didn't come back for a long time. Still he isn't back. I tried to search but no trace ☹️
My cat gets everything he ask for. I feel he playing games with me cause he knows I’m coming to the rescue. He is quite in the day and sleep all day. Never falls when the night comes he turns cray cray. Jumping on the bed scratching the mattress. Running like someone after him, bitting me when I’m sleeping. The meowing is the worst like I’m beating him in here. I know he’s Possessive like I’m his property and I don’t like it one bit. Oh yeah Doc, your cat don’t like you at all. Watch your throat at night cause she’s going to get you.
All these people complaining probably don't realize as a veterinarian, this is probably the mildest cat behavior you see all day. You seem like a nice guy. Sorry Gussy had a cranky day.
Yooooo my cat meows and yowls all the time. We arent even holding him either, he just meows a lot. What do i do?!? D: we play with him and give him rubs. 😔😔 i feel like we spoiled him too much and now he is accustomed to being pampered. 🤔😔
What the cat behaviorist at Humane Society recommended was playing with my cat every morning for 30 minutes and putting het food in a food puzzle. We thought it was anxiety but the behaviorist said she just has too much energy. It has stopped her from meowing in middle of night but she still does it sometimes when she thinks I “should” be awake. Also sometimes she stops for weeks on end but then something happens-a winf storm, for example, and she does it again. For weeks. I try not reinforce and just ignore but it seems so random. It’s nerve wracking and it really irritates me.
my cat does this too and he doesn't even like human food. he will scream until I at least let him see what's on my plate then scream in disappointment if its something he doesn't like and im like "what? my foods here your food is over there."
Might be because human food taste so much more better and I mean I've never had cat food but I don't imagine it would taste good anyways try getting your cat a different type of cat food every time you run out of cat food
My cat meows whole night , and donot let us sleep all night , he's now 1n half years old . From last one day he's hungry and is not eating food but drinked water at night Kindly help me out what I should do like he donot allow us to sleep all night and used to meow and yowl whole night
My cat does the same , he is only 11 months and he is also avoiding food sometimes, I tried to keep it with me at night but again at 2 am he wakes up and starts yowling...
Petting a totally annoyed cat in that manner...really? Introduce the cat and then put the cat down. This was stressful to watch. I hope things changed in the past two years of how you might handle cats in a video.
My cat keeps Meowing at me. She sounds like she's crying. Ive given her tons of attention and made sure she wasnt hurt and had clean food and water. What do i do? Also I know she's not in heat.
Sometimes my cat just sits down in front of the bathroom at 4 in the morning meowing, even though there is a perfect water bowl downstairs. How do I stop this?
My cat keeps meowing even though she has food show me out when she wants food but there’s times that she’s meowed when there’s food and water in her bowl in the cat litter is even clean I just hope there’s nothing else wrong that we would have to take her to the vet she does eat perfectly fine we feed her when she’s hungry or when she supposed to be fed she just runs around the house meowing we even play with her and give her attention but she still seems to meow
There are a lot of stray cats in my area but today I found one with its tail cut off. Luckily I had cat treats with me so eventually it started to let me pet her. She was so thin I could feel her very bone. She followed me home and is very loving but she won’t stop meowing. And I don’t know what to do. She meows like every 5 seconds real,y loud. And it’s 3:30 am and I’m trying to sleep.
I have a 13 yr old male cat. He's part russian blue and part orange tabby. he's fixed and has always been a indoor cat. I feed him Blue Buffalo can chicken or chicken and turkey. Anyways, about last month he started meowing alot 2 hrs before his feeding time (8am -4-pm). He acts paronoid. He runs up and down the stairs for 2 hrs meowing. How can I stop him for meowing 2 hrs before his feeding time? He wakes me up around 6 am every morning meowing non stop till I get up at 8 to feed him. He sniffing the floor all the time and I have to vacumme all the time. Can you please help me . I cannot afford a vet appt with labs and God know what else.
My cat has a clean litter box, bowl full of food, a comfy bed, bowl full of water. But STILL wont stop meowing to go out of my bedroom at night. I cant just leave my door open because the kittens (my cats kittens) will run out. She gets so annoying and usually keeps me up till 3 AM even on school nights. If anyone else knows what to do when they do this, please help. Edit:My family rescued my cat from a store she had been dropped off at. She is probably about 1 or 2 years old
I have 2 sphynx one is perfect an dthe other is so annoying. She meows so much when I'm trying to sleep. She is 2 years old and is spayed. How do I get her to shut up.
It’s funny how people are reacting to gently growling Gus in the video as if she has been mistreated ! Relax people ! If you have cats you know this is not mishandling or holding the cat wrong ! Gus is just a spoilt diva. I got one of those at home . The Vet isn’t mishandling her or anything . And he is very gentle. you think if Gus didn’t want to be there, the Vet stood ANY chance of recording the video for over 8 minutes ? 😂 I can’t even get a selfie with my cats 🐈
My Birman never stops. I average four hours sleep each night. He’s nearly two; neutered and has more toys than Toys “R” Us! I decided to just ignore him. He jumped up and began to meow directly into my ear! He demands my full attention for as long as he’s awake, and I’ve got to the stage where I really can’t take much more. I thought purchasing a kitten may help. But my VET stated that he could resent any attention paid, by ME, to the kitten and become hostile to it. There has to be an answer? I love him so much, but his constant meowing along with lack of sleep is making me ill.
Outside of going to the Vet (we've made an appointment), would our cat be hurting in any part of her body? Say when we're holding, petting, or brushing her.
Out of desperation for my yowling cat I put a dog sweater on him. It's slightly small and worked like magic. He's hyperthyroid. Less pacing, less restlessness, more normal behavior.
I just ignore mine. She has everything she needs so I’m not giving in to her noise. I tune her out and don’t make eye contact as if she’s invisible. She pipes down eventually. She’s not the boss.
My cat was sick from last night she couldn't even move an inch but today at 6 O'Clock she get up and start meowing.... Movie here and there......... She even fell into washing machine not eating anything..... What to do m so much worried 😥😥😥😥
Hi Dr. I'm quite frustrated. I just adopted a 2 year old domestic short hair. He meows excessively and it's so annoying..he doesn't stop. It's at all hours of the day, It sounds as if he's crying for help. I'm not sure what could be wrong.
YOIR cat is STRESSED OUT because you're waving your hand-arm right IN TO HER FACE the whole time while you're talking AROUND and AROUND AROUND and AROUND IN HER FACE OVER AND OVER IN HER FACE!!!!!! Now I'm stressed too. Doctor watch your own video PLEASE! I have no doubt that you're a really good Doctor and that you really care about the animals put your care. I clicked on your video because my male neutered 3yr silver Siamese 4am Starts LOUDLY moouuowing a haunting howling) everyday He summonsed at least three coyotes to my open bedroom window. Its GOT TO STOP!! I NEED HELP! I appreciate what you do for our fur babies and I appreciate your answer. Thank you doctor.
you could have explained most of this without putting your cat through unnatural behavior like speaking to a screen. It's weird. You're supposed to be a professional. Do better.
My cat gets a swipe from a tea towel when he's meowing incessantly. I am sorry I have to keep sane. Cats bite and scratch each other without mercy when they behave badly.
My siamese cat stay up start to mew as soon as I go to bed. 3am, 6am and then 10am. Is it okey to give them cat melatonin, cat hemp or cbd ? He also have separation anxiety. When I live my girlfriend tell me that he stay by the door and mew, scratch the door. I have 2 Siamese brothers. Thank you.
