Thanks for sharing Jim. Not quite what I was looking for in terms of advice for storage, but adding another perspective always helps.

Yah thats good awesome I agree on the simplified storage solution. I ended up getting some $40 plastic shelves from home Depot and $100 metal shelf for the bigger sets. They have some new nice red ones now for only $99 can handle up to 5,000 lb

Hey, great video as always Jim. Let me ask you something since you've been at this for quite a long time, do you feel the sales thus far in October from Amazon, Walmart, & Target, have been as good as they have been in the past through the first 3 weeks of October ? I'm seeing sets of interest at 10-20% off at most, with less desirables like Hidden Side, or particular sets within a theme that don't seem to sell as well, slightly higher. However, hardly any Architecture at 30%, or Speed Champions at $10.50. Walmart has run some very brief flash sales on better Creator Expert sets like the Winter Village Fire Station at around 50%, Volkwagon Beetle, but you pretty much have to be there right when they start to catch any blitz sale that good, that's why I prefer 30-40% off sales. However, the biggest dissapointment has been Target, because in October they always do the $10 gift card with $50 Lego purchases, which is great because you're already buying good Architecture, or Speed Champions sets at 20-30% off, and then you add that $10 gift card for each purchase, so its easy to accumulate hundreds, and even thousands in gift cards. I'm particularly interested in Target this year, because I have a Citi Credit Card that I accumulated points towards $625 in my Target gift card balance, but nothing so far, when I check every Sunday morning for their $10 gift card sale. Do you think the Lego Mexican plant shutdown in the spring means inventories may never catch up, before they retire these small/medium sized sets, & thus retailers are not going to reduce prices as much , because they have less stock to move than they normally do before retirement ? Or do you think Target, Walmart, and even Amazon may only be waiting longer than usual, but with the weakened economy, they'll still be forced to lower pricing in the very near future ?

@@BrickBucks I agree with your thoughts, & that little red Speed Champions Ferrari, has been stuck on $14.50 everywhere, while the others are a bit better. Additionally, a lot tighter purchasing limits per order, to discourage volume buying, particularly at Target/Walmart 2, or 3. So for now laying off, & hoping I don't miss out by laying off. However, if I don't hear about, or see the $10 gift cards soon, I'm pulling the trigger at probably Walmart which has the sturdiest shipping boxes for those flimsy Speed Champions sets, then possibly Target ( their shipping has improved, before you could only order Architecture from Target without damage ), & lastly Amazon. Also, been kind of slow thus far at Lego stores, fortunately I have a few in my area, but I normally like to spread my purchases out from 10/1-12/15, not all on Black Friday weekend because that causes a fair amount of stress, since I already hit the Lego stores each day of that weekend, as lately they feature different Expert, & Ideas sets on different days. The key with the stores is the discounts combined with in demand gwp's, this months Mindstorms gwp, not good, but when they do liscenced gwps, or holiday gwps, it's a great thing. Anyway, thanks for your response, because I know you're probably a busy bee during these times. One thing you might want to touch on, not necessarily a sole video on this, but when talking about volume buying, you might mention that while it's fine at Amazon, Target, or Walmart if they allow it, it's not recommended at Lego shop at home. A lot of buyers are not aware they can be banned from online buying with Lego, & although it's not a huge part of my purchases, it certainly is nice to have that availability again on certain occasions. Without notice, one day in 2014 they cancelled a couple of orders, & stated we don't sell to resellers in a generic email, & there was nothing I could do to argue that I was just a collector, because they looked at my UCS, & Expert buying pattern right before those were to retire. I was banned for 5 years ( with online purchasing, not store purchasing thankfully ) , & it was tough because they were using IP address to scratch orders to any other account, but I think the new VIP program may have saved me, and others in the same boat, because suddenly in the past year I was able to purchase once again. So I only order certain things, but no more than their limits, & try to mix it up within the order, & in consecutive orders over a few months time. No more ordering the 2014 Grand Emporium, in separate 8 single orders over 3 months, lol. Anyway, keep up the great work here, & have a super profitable, & enjoyable 4th Quarter!

Where do you store your sets that are not in your home? I am currently looking for store areas that are climate controlled. My sets are currently taking up a 5x10x8 space I my house and is getting larger every year.

What are the best size boxes or what size do you use most for shipping sealed sets?
@BrickBucks
@BrickBucks 2 года назад
there is a huge range of boxes I use for my business, so it entirely depends on what sets or themes you specialize in. My recommendation would be to add some box dimensions in to your inventory list, and then find commonalities (box sizes that are similar sized), then look for shipping boxes that will fit multiple of your sets. Uline, Starboxes and eBay are great places to buy them. And don't worry about the cost of shipping boxes - if you buy boxes that perfectly fit, you'll make the money back in reduced shipping costs (boxes that are much larger will cost more than you should be paying)
