Hi, I use a similar method to get through a course, including Reddit and FB, but I immediately jump to the PA. The PA, if aligned with the OA, allows you to have a targeted focus on areas that you’ll likely be tested on for the OA. The one thing I can say that is sometimes a downside to this method of going to Reddit & FB is that sometimes I allow the feedback regarding course difficulty from some students get in my head, which leads to over studying or doubting my readiness. Thank you for taking the time to do the video and providing your perspective with the goal of helping your WGU peers. I’ll be back for more of your insight and wish you success in your journey.
Thank you Sir. For making a great effort to put the video out. I'm 60and just registered for IT Security degree. With your input, it just encouraged me. Thank you very much. Btw, all my life, and thought our colleges are just a joke. They're in business to make the money, until I discovered WGU.
You are absolutely correct man. Most colleges are out there to get money. However, WGU is absolutely the opposite. Yes they need money to keep afloat. They need money to keep the college going. However, them allowing you to take as many classes as you want and not charging you an extra penny at all shows that they are in it to get students to be able to graduate at the most affordable possible way. I love WGU it is amazing. I am now seven classes away from graduating with my bachelors and because of my experience I have already decided I am going to continue on and get my master's degree at WGU
Hey man, thank you very much for your advice! I'm going to be starting WGU by August, need about 61 credits to finish and plan to finish bachelors within 6 months since I could only afford the $4k. It's exciting to me how many success stories there are, and how many kind folk are out here on RU-vid sharing their knowledge of how WGU works. I appreciate the time, boss. Best wishes!
Thank you for this video! I’ve been in IT for 10 years self taught. Finally ready to get my 1st degree. Starting the IT program in 1.5 months. This video really helped me out giving me an idea of what to expect.
@@jeffcousineau2933 ah ok, very understandable! my job isn't too demanding. and my wife and i don't have any kids yet. So i'm going to try to knock it out as fast as i can before any of that changes 😅
Such a informative video. All the points discussed in the video is just like how it is in brick and mortar schools. Students would reach out on social media platforms- creating whatsapp groupchats and get on discord servers to ask questions about courses and resources. I'm a mid 20s upcoming nightowl and a little nervous about adapting to a asynchronous online college program. Watching this video definitely gives me a hint into familiar territory from my previous bachelors.
I was able to earn both my bachelor's and my MBA at WGU it was the only college I could complete while working my job that had a super crazy work schedule. I had to have the at my own pace to be successful
This video is very underrated. You'll be amazed at how fast you can pass your classes if you follow what he says. I'm working on my BS in Software Engineering right now. I've had some classes where I took the pre test, studied, pre test again, then final all in one afternoon.
@@live42Day sounds like hard work, im struggling with a student/ minimum wage job double duty i have an online proctored exam today and i have lots of test anxiety so i will be taking it on a virtual machine so i can use google
Great video! I was looking for a way to get through US politics and constitution faster. Did you take that class? It’s so much information and I’m struggling 😅
Thank you for your tips. Im looking to join wgu but im hesitant on pulling the trigger. I wana go for HIM but...i dunno. Also can i ask, how is the grading? Do you get instant results? I ask because i went to Capella and during the holidays it grading was slow and it took away fron the days we had in the billing cycle once we completed classes and were ready to move forward. Thank you for the video, it eqsed some of my anxiety 😊
For a test you will know if you passed in about a minute. You have to close the window and refresh the page and it will show in your assessment section if you passed or failed. Three papers usually take about 3 days to get graded
Do you mean take the assessments? If so you can take the first one right after you attempt the pre test. If you do not pass your course mentor will require you to do something prior to them allowing you another chance. If you do not pass your second time then you have to do a lot more things to get approved for your third attempt plus you have to pay $65 if you don't pass by your fourth attempt I think you get removed from the program
I am starting the bachelors in HR management. I’m very excited but more nervous because I’m coming from the dental field with no experience in HR or business. I’ve never even took an online class let alone a whole degree 😭😬
I'm on your boat! Starting BA in Business Admin, Healthcare Management....got 9 yrs Exp as a CNA, and Paraprofessional work....no Business Administration whatsoever ...but I know I'm ready for the change in pay and credentials! Stay determined and persevere! Blessings we got this! 🙏 🙌
Sweet video, I just started at WGU i failed my first course, and debating on when to retake it. I get a lot of test anxiety I'm not sure if this is something you combat with but got anytips on how to deal with it?
All right so this is how I deal with that I failed a few OA. But the reason is I'll take an OA if I think I have a shot at passing. If I don't pass I study the areas I did poorly in. And I do whatever I'm told to study because there's usually a requirement from the instructor prior to a retake approval.
Hi, thank you for this video. I would like your opinion on my situation. I graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science at a central new york college. Afterwards, I worked for 2 years in a position unrelated to my degree but then my contract ended and I have been unemployed and unbale to find a job that I am interested in which will accept me. I have money saved so I am able to survive. I want to do something in software. So I found WGU and talked with an enrollment councilor and sent them my transcript to get into the software development program. (What is suspicious to me is that they accepted me way too fast. As soon as I applied, I received a phone call from them not even 20 seconds later). I am now waiting. Am I choosing the correct path? I have no real work experience in IT and the only experience that I have with independent study is differential equations in college. I am completely unsure if I have the capabilities to teach myself if there is no help at all from other students/teachers. But at the same time, the low tuition cost at WGU and potentially quick time to receive a degree is very tempting. Should I give it a try?
So honestly they accepted you because you met certain criteria. I initially applied to the IT college and I was not accepted because I did not have experience in the field. I believe it's your bachelor's degree you already have. May have gotten you into the program or accepted into the program. One thing I know is you're really never alone at WGU. There are so many services there that will help you learn something, if you need it. WGU has been absolutely amazing. Any quick time? I have a question. There was someone I could ask. I know the IT department or the IT courses offer a lot of free credentials like Mike like in your a+ certificate and all those different type of certificates at no additional cost. It really is a great value
Hey man how has this gone? I'm currently working in IT, considering going to WGU soon for computer science. Have you finished since this video was posted? And if so, how has the job search/promotion been?
Yes, they are all proctored, and have strict guide lines. That being said, by the time you are ready for an OA or performance based Assessment, you'll be ready if you do the things you need to do to prepare.
I can't speak on difficulty because everybody's different. There are some classes I thought we're going to kill me. They were extremely difficult and there were other classes that were extremely simple and I was able to complete in like a day or two. So it all depends on you, your knowledge and things of that nature. What I can say is no class is impossible to pass because they give you everything you need to know to learn
There's usually a few things your course instructor will want you to do before retaking the test. I always recommend reviewing the areas you did poorly in studying those chapters and whatever is the instructor says to do prior to retaking the test. Because that is your last free shot and after that if you fail it gets a much more involved on how hard it is to get approved to take a test
I’ve graduated already with an AS-T for Business Administration & Economics from a Community college and transferred to a university but dropped out because of my mother, she had to get emergency surgery and I’m her prime care taker. Im putting her first. So I can’t take care of her as easily if I do in person classes so I’m looking to transfer to WGU and finish my bachelors in Accounting but not sure how to go about that. I submitted my application already though and since their doing it for free rn with the transcripts too, I’m just waiting to hear from them but kind of nervous to be rejected 😔 Is WGU actually accredited and will employers and cpa-firms accept it? Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance 🙏 🤲
When you took the objective exam over the second time would you say it was just like the first objective exam you took? Did you find both final exams similar when you the in any way?
I'm having such a hard time its ridiculous, I've been to school 3 other times already, and was successfully and now that I've decided to get another degree , its making me feel some kinda way. Today I took an exam today and failed it, it may have been 5-7 questions that was on the study guide really discouraging
I am planning on starting in September Business in IT management. They are evaluating my transcripts now. How fast can you go for Business in IT management?
What kind of jobs can you expect with a business degree, salary etc? I was planning on an IT/ networking/ cyber security degree but I figured I could get some certs instead and get a job so I think a business degree is more valuable since you most banker jobs require a degree? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Right After graduation I got a 55k salaried position. This was actually a pay cut for me because I was a top paid truck driver. However I have a much better work life balance. I'm expecting to earn 80+in the next 5 years. I'm currently working on my MBA
@@thumpertorque_ yes I am. I just started on September 1st. And just submitted my last task of my first course. I am hoping to have passed my first course
Hello all I’m getting my bachelors in cloud computing from WGU. Has anyone done the cloud computing degree? If so, what resources did you use to accelerate your progress? Any help would be appreciated.
That's super exciting. I took business administration IT management. But my company promoted me from truck driver to logistics management. Not really the right field but the money is good for me
@@live42Day this is refreshing to hear. How fast did you do it??? I am currently a stay at home mom so I kinda have more time on my hands than the normal adult I guess. Did you start from scratch? I have some college transfer credit that they might take. It is all exciting and scary for me I never took college online but it is good to hear you are making good money after your degree
@@skyfalldeadpool1633 oh I am still making more videos but not much about WGU because I graduated. I can say it is worth it. I got a promotion after graduation that came with a 55k salary
@@skyfalldeadpool1633 it took me about 1.5 years to graduate. I had 10 classes already completed from the previous time I attended WGU in the past (2015) so all together 2 years.
@@live42Day D080-Managing in a global business environment (I’ve failed 3 times😳) this will be my 4th attempt. & C429-Healthcare operations management. I took the PA and did so well so I took the OA and barley failed 😩 kinda at a hard place considering I haven’t passed a class since November when I had Covid. I had been accelerating. I have finished 7 classes so far and have 23 days left.
Check out this Reddit page if you haven't yet. There is a Quizlet in the feed that help me out a lot. I do remember this class was a pain in the butt. It was very hard but I believe you can do it. There's a lot of good tips on this page. If you need help, make sure you reach out to your course instructor and maybe they can set up a plan and don't get down on yourself because everybody has a hard time with things. You got this I know you can do it
Hi thanks for this informative video. My question is what Bachelors Degree are you working on. I am thinking of doing the Information technology management but I need someone to who is already doing the degree for more insight in related to the causes, and job related after graduation. So I don’t know if you have any information on that degree I will appreciate if you can share your information experience with me. Thank you.
I have 13 courses left for graduation. I have not looked for a job yet because it's going to be a career change and I'm in the process of building a home. After I close on my mortgage I'll be looking for a new job
@@samuelo.9761 That's hard to say. Everyone is different with Thier strengths and weaknesses. I personally haven't found a single class that I couldn't finish ahead of schedule. Even the more challenging classes can be done quickly if you discipline yourself and just get the work done
I highly recommend getting grammarly because a simple grammar mistake can cause your paper to get kicked back and it's always good to have a second pair of eyes, look at your paper. Also make your paper simple. Only answer the questions. Don't try to add too much extra information that could potentially get your paper kicked back. Simple is better
I want to pursue a masters . I graduated from a big ten school with a bachelors . I don’t know how credible this school looks on resume that is biggest thing for pursing it
I got a promotion right after getting my bachelor's. And I'll finish my MBA in 3 months. It's like anything else you still have to sell yourself. The degree is just a box to check. The biggest difference is that you will be missing out on networking with piers that could help you get higher paying jobs in the future.
You aren't really learning anything or observing knowlege by skimming over everything. It basically defeats the purpose of pursing a degree. You are better off just teaching yourself and obtain certifications on your own.
@@live42Day I broke into I.T without a degree. I work with mostly RHEL today as a Linux Sysadmin. I think obtaining certifications and hands on projects is the quickest and cheapest way to advance your career in IT. There is an on going trend right now with many employers adapting skills based hiring over college degrees which is becoming the norm.
